  1. OK, who photo-shopped 40 pounds off her ass?
  2. OK, I just didn't know where the hell to put this, because we don't have a "dumb-schitt stuff" topic. Jeez, hope nobody's offended... http://thevalleyreport.com/2016/02/13/florida-man-dies-in-meth-lab-explosion-after-lighting-farts-on-fire/
  3. So how about my M&P .40 S&W? It's FDE AND black! Does that just confuse the hell out of the Californicators, or what? In fact, my .308AR Ghost gun is also black and FDE, not to mention huge magazines and no bullet button, so I might be doubly screwed if I came to Cali. Is there a penalty if your rifle color matches your pistol color in Cali? So it's really, actually, another $25,000 for each color of identical pistols?
  4. Screw it, rattle-can the grips and you're good to go. Works for me. Goes great with my stained sweatshirt, ripped jeans, and split-seam Keds. I used to have that OCD thing, but mine matured into a case of CDO.....same thing but in the right order..........
  5. Should be used as a guide for "thinning the herd". Or maybe "improving the gene pool".
  6. Why shouldn't he poop in the house? The damn cat does!
  7. Here's some accurate info on the memorial. I think it's pretty damn spiffy. Screw the media!!! http://www.snopes.com/rumors/tributes/teardrop.asp
  8. Insanity. Stupid. Gun people are good people. This doesn't happen....... But, on the other hand, she DOES kind of make me WANT to commit a crime......... Never Mind!
  9. Right toward the 3/4 mark of a busy, fairly ugly damn work day, 2-3 more hours to go. Man, that picture just unwound and relaxed the hell out of me. Thanks.........
  10. That is going to end up as one slick-lookin' shooting machine.
  11. Bet your shooting improves, also. That oughta put a smile on your face. It's impossible to do your best at anything, including shooting, when you are in pain. Really glad you are feeling better. Relax and enjoy!
  12. Had a similar problem, different brands of parts, but similar feed problems. Like you, swapped BCG and it cycled perfectly. I swapped out an Ares Armor bcg for a new Rubber City Armory bcg, and VOILA! runs like a watch. My advice is don't complicate your life. Grab up another bcg (what the hell, steal the one that worked-lol) stuff it up your rifle, verify headspace and go sling lead. Simple works. Send rifle pics and a range report when you're done. Welcome to the forum from WA
  13. I'm not gonna second guess the motivation. I've done the 80% thing three times, and have another lower on hand to do. Not the same as a "weld-up", obviously, but a few folks here made the point that 80% doesn't really save any money, and "why would ya?". Best reason is, because I can, and I want to, and I get to gently poke a finger in the eye of the "regulate-you" bureaucrat freaks. I'm all about egging on any gun nut. Buy a finished 308AR, build one from parts, 80%, 90%, 100% or if you are really talented, grab a chunk of aluminum (or a bunch of steel plates) and have at it. Just show me the pix..........and the targets. And/or the carcasses. Jeez, lighten up! Just my two rounds downrange........
  14. Mine has (right side) a laser-engraved ghost, and says "Civilian Use OK, Not only for M&P" Left side has an identifier number, caliber, and city and state, all engraved. Kind of fun putting a little "tweak" to the powers that be on my project.
  15. Hey Arch! Fascinating! Given my level of welding skills, I can see me ending up with a paperweight, but I'd love to see pix of your 308 as it progresses. I've done a few 80% lowers, but have never seen these "weld-up" kits. Given the price, I'm tempted to mess with this. Got about 7 million questions. Pictures! Pictures! I second this. My 80%'s are all identified so I can prove they are mine, if necessary. And photographed. And oh, yeah, welcome to the forum.
  16. Got mine from 80percentarms.com. Fit was interesting. Had a problem with router chatter on the first blank, did some minor damage, got a 50%-of-cost replacement (and a new router) and did #2. JB-welded the first one and re-routed, so ended up with two lowers. The first one was a little too snug at the pivot pin, could use a very minor filing job. The second one was a super fit at both pins, and everywhere else. Robo is dead right about fit and alignment with different brands in the wonderful world of 308AR. And it's almost certainly more pronounced in the 80% part of that world. That's probably why God gave us small files, polishing compound and Dremel tools. Reliability and accuracy are important and achievable. Cosmetic perfection is, in my opinion, over-rated.
  17. Yeah, me too. Troy Alpha, Aero Precision. I don't really give a rip. Plan is to put BUIS on at some point, but the height difference is minimal, easily allowed for with the front sight adjustment. Would look better if it was flush, but I can put up with a little ugliness, since my "ghost gun" runs superbly and shoots better than I am capable of. Hope yours comes out super smooth and super accurate! But no, they don't match up.
  18. Not a problem....Cali will just issue a recall and have the manufacturer replace all the camo parts with hunter orange. See, that wasn't so hard. Appropriate fees, taxes and penalties for non-orange weapons will be enacted, plus the appropriate new bureaucracy.
  19. +1 Bolt catch issues are not all that uncommon in the world of 308. The Armalite 10-B is a good choice, but might need a little "surgery". I had the same situation and my solution was to pick up a taller bolt catch, which I got from Mega. No idea what model or brand name it is, but it's a tall, beefy catch that dropped in and worked perfectly. A call to them wouldn't hurt.
  20. Nasty indeed! Nastier than a hicky on a hemorrhoid. Hey, if it's carried by a nudist, is that considered "open carry"? Just curious.....
  21. Well written explanation, and helpful. Thanks.
  22. Heckuva find. I agree the "tactical/operator" stuff is overused hype. Gotta admit, however, I'm sucked in enough to want to do a little testing of my own. Will be interested to see how it goes over here. Yeah, I'll probably gamble a few bucks and play with a couple of calibers. Not like I'm short on gun projects, or anything.
  23. Well, maybe used.....I don't know..... I suspect that right out of the box, it's a real pisserrrr.....
  24. http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/rifle-tools/receiver-tools/ar-15-m16-upper-receiver-lapping-tool-prod20220.aspx This one is available for AR-15, but I don't think they have one for a .308. I've used this one a couple of times, on AR-15s, and it works great, but mainly just for truing up. I'm not at all certain shaving a bunch off the length of the receiver extension with a tool like this - or any other tool, is a good idea, as noted by others.
  25. Does it go off if you inadvertently fart? Is it marked "this end in first"?
