If I lived in say Chicago, D.C. or L.A. calif. I would probably stock at least 250 rounds of 00 and own a flock of Rem 1100s and a pair of Rem 870s. in 12ga and a few 20 ga 1100s. for the lady of the house.

This is from a Springfield commercial built .308/NATO 7.62 x 51 M1A manual. The red text is my editing. Ammunition 3. The M1A is designed and built to specifications to shoot standard factory .308 made to SAAMI specifications or 7.62x51 NATO ammunition. The specifications for standard military ammunition include harder primers to withstand the slight indentation from the firing pin when the bolt chambers a cartridge. This slight indentation is normal. The use of civilian ammunition with more sensitive primers or handloads with commercial primers and/or improperly seated primers increase the risk of primer detonation when the bolt slams forward. This unexpected “slam fire” can occur even if the trigger is not being pulled and if the safety is on. Use of military specification ammunition will help avoid this. Every shooter should use extreme caution when loading this or any other firearm. See page 17 for instructions on proper loading to help avoid a “slam fire”. Also see enclosed article on “Slam Fire” written by Wayne Faatz. WARNING WARNING 5

Damn, I can resemble to that stuff!

I know that, but on a revolver even if the first shot is a bad primer or fails to fire , all you have to do to fire the next round is PULL THE TRIGGER!.... now unless it is a life or death situation, anytime you have a fail to fire you need to check out the failure before pulling the trigger!. . . .be sure it wasn't a round with no powder. a centerfire primer has enough power to move a bullet a ways down the barrel, and if a second round is fired your pistol/revolver can become a bomb.

You come into my house uninvited you are going to be greeted by a 40 or 50 year old Ruger security Six .357 loaded with jacked HP ammo. I am proud of my 1908 model .32 auto, my CZ .40 cal 11 shot, even my Ruger .380 auto pea-shooter, and my series 70 1911 45 ACP Govt. model with the Crimson Trace green laser grips, but it has failed to fire a couple of times on the second shot. Security Six has NEVER failed to fire on the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, or sixth shots. It shoots where I point it, maybe because I have been shooting it since 1982 when I bought it second hand from a coworker.

I think it is a reliability thing since a 6 cylinder revolver isn't prone to jamming like a single chamber, with a detachable magazine pistol is.

AHHHHH SCHIDT!!!!!! so it is, sorry I never ever seen that position on a parachute harness before.

I reckon I am just a hopelessly set-in-my-ways old codger of the old, old school variety, what else would you expect from a old peacetime brown shoe (actually the shoes were Cordovan in color) Marine?

I bought some Herter's magnificent stupendous case lube back in 1965 and it worked on stubborn 3006 cases fired in my M1 with the original barrel and it worked well in the full resizing dies, it smelled like Texaco 140 wt. gear lube, so I started using 140 Wt. lube oil after running out of the $4 for 3 oz. Hearter's stuff. Worked as a good M1 & M14 lube on our DCM target rifles. I got a free sample of Rat-A-Tat and it is good. and it also smells like 140Wt gear lube. I always have trusted my smeller to detect good stuff like Hoppe's #9, hickory smoked ribs, banana pudding and tuna tacos. I even like the smell of hot liver and onions, for what it is worth.

Watch out folks they were forecasting possible snow showers and 36*F. I haven't seen any snowflakes (real ones) but we do have a couple of snowbirds from Ohio here for the winter. I just saw my neighbor drive by pulling his boat, he has been out running his trotlines, caught a 32# blue catfish. I think I'll be warm enough today in a tee shirt and my bib overalls, high around 55 degrees American, South wind of 10 MPH.

I have used Timney triggers in Mausers,Springfield,Remington 700 bolt rifles and never had a bad experience. Calibers from .22-250 2506, 3006 and..243 both for personal and customers. I never saw a need to go with another brand. Once when the Timney plant had a fire I had to.look around to find one for my Remington 700 .243.

Nice thing to do for any boy! Keep doing it! Back in the olden days I was a Boy Scout and spent a lot of time being outdoorsmen, we learned how to start a fire several ways. The Boy Scout Handbook (The Handbook for Boys) had a lot of info about starting camp fires. But, that was during the time boys were being boys and girls were being girls. Did you know that you can download several editions of "The Handbook for Boys" on Amazon? I have the electronic Editions for 1911, 1951 and the current one for 2016.

Hey Shepp guy , No way did I mean to leave the opinion that I didn't like the beer topic, and I don't care if you like to drink Coors, Bud, Blatz, Millers or horse piss, sweet tea, or buttermilk, whatever makes you happy, it makes me no difference.
-
Okay I am old and grumpy and I was burnt out on Yuppy beer when you were just a gleam in your daddy's eye, so just mind your own business and I'll take care of mine. Have a Merry Christmas!
-
Yes I do drink Coors on a regular basis, however I also drink other beers, but think beer with oatmeal and peanut butter etc., etc. is double yucky maybe adding some rocky peppermint grape jelly flavor would be better. Question was : When do you reach the point where beer is no longer BEER?

Double YUCK! When do you reach the point that BEER is no longer B E E R?
