I'm with SS, I've always just called them "large frame AR's", but if AP's coming out with a long action set (which I've been looking for since I first heard of the BM36), maybe make long and short action divisions of the large frame category, like Robo sez. -
First off, welcome! Feel free to hit up the intro section and introduce yourself. Did you get the rifle directly from Noreen? The one on their website looks a little different, yours may be an older model; http://onlylongrange.com/bn308/ The company does have manuals on their website, I would think they had one for yours. I don't know anyone who has a BN308, so I'm just going off your picture, but it LOOKS like it would disassemble just like an AR, short of removing the charging handle, seeing how the BN308 is a side charger. Your best bet, before I spend another 30 minutes trying to reply on my phone, would be to ask the company. If you can't figure it out and are unfamiliar with the platform, you might be better off clearing the rifle, removing the upper receiver, and giving the whole upper to your gunsmith. That being said, there's a plethora of information here, search around and you should find something helpful.

The I think it's something called sonoluminescence. Sonoluminescence: the emission of short bursts of light from imploding bubbles in a liquid when excited by sound. Oh man, it's too early to try to spell that schitt......

Welcome from up the road a lil' ways, Gator, hope you like it here!

I think the issue with PSA receivers came from the use of mid-length gas barrels with them, which just so happens to be what the OP's two barrel choices both use. I think this was the thread on it: http://forum.308ar.com/topic/11808-a-word-to-the-wise-about-the-palmetto-state-armory-pa-10/#comment-160786 If you use one of those barrels, HMM, you might need an Armalite carbine length gas tube instead of a standard mid-length.

That's like the Hoffer's naming their son Jack, that's planning for the future right there XD

Sorry I'm late, but Ares Armor has a sale until midnight. Use the code UPPER30 to get 30% off everything they've got.

area between rear take down and fire control pocket... required?

And good luck finding a DIAS, I've heard some pretty scary stories about their legal status.... -
Would I steer you wrong?

I'll be down for a spare or two -
The uppers I've used all accepted the barrel extension easily, but I've heard from a couple people that the barrel extension flange on their MATEN uppers is excessively tight and had to be heated for assembly. It has been a while, though....

I was actually checking out Childers last night after I couldn't find any more 80%ers at Apex. Looks like that'd be the best way to keep her all Polish, even if it is technically a compliance part. Not bad prices, either. Can't wait to see your progress, brother! That'll be a sweet build. BTW, we have threads showing how to build ARs, suppressors, etc, but one thing I haven't found on here (yet) is an AK build thread from start to finish. Just throwing that out there....

Checked Apex yet?

Chris is a great guy to deal with, and always has a good price. I know it's unnecessary, but I had to throw this in: https://youtu.be/YzE4ILFgHzo

I'm a little late this time. I don't know about AP's barrels, but I got Black Hole Weaponry to cut me a barrel out of 416R, and when I got it I had to clean the schitt outta it, as there was still thick, black machine oil from barrel extension to bore. It took hours to clean it all out, and you can STILL see where some of the oil stained the face of the barrel where it meets the extension. From the amount of black schitt I removed, I deduce the barrel wasn't test fired (could be wrong). Maybe you just got a barrel straight off the line that didn't get a thorough cleaning before shipping?

I think what KC means by truing is he's getting the barrel extension collar on the upper lapped to increase contact surface, like with scope rings. As for the loctite on the barrel extension, it SUPPOSEDLY helps keep groups tight by keeping the extension from moving when it heats up, not that it sticks, but the loctite seals up the tiny gap between the two. Or something like that, I've never been too worried about it myself....

Great job, Hemi! Great timing, too, what with all this talk about the hearing protection act going on...

Now if I could only get a 240....

I think the US Military did that back during WWII so they could train on rimfire and save the good stuff for the war. That's awesome, dude, I can't wait to see the pics ;)

If it's 14x1mm LH then it's standard AK threads, but make sure that's what it actually is. I believe the MSAR STG uses 13x1mm LH threads, and I've seen 13.5 and 14.5 LH pitch on a couple others. Measure twice, cry once, right?

Don't forget, Criterion has that .308 16" rifle length barrel now, mine was around $350ish and weighs about 2 lbs.

There are definitely more than a few of us with a pitcher (or 10) tucked away in the safe, stuff's better than Faygo

I believe there's a link to some solvent trap kits for sale that you might wanna check out, very entertaining comments. So if this passes, we won't need a tax stamp to build one, just like an 80%er? I've been waiting my whole life to hear that :D

I was going to edit my post, but for some reason it won't let me at the moment. I think I just found an answer over on ARF (I don't want to link over there, but you guys can find it). According to Seekins, as of 9/20/15, all the adjustable gas blocks they made/make (I assume) not only have the locking screw up front, but have a larger adjustment screw, supposedly allowing full cutoff of the gas system. Sounds like they took in everyone's feedback and upgraded, but kept a decent price, something that seems a little uncommon these days.

I thought that it was, and the review on the website says the same thing, but doesn't the one they advertise have the locking screw in the front? http://www.seekinsprecision.com/seekins-precision-low-profile-adjustable-gas-block-750-dia.html Look closely at the ones pictured, it could be a mistake
