  1. New 28-round "J" mags are in. I ordered these late Wednesday afternoon and they were on my doorstep today. Look great. Nice coating job, just as described. If I could figure out how to do a decent photo I'd post some on here. Never done photos on websites much. I also wish this crazy weather would stay away so I could hit the range and see how they perform.
  2. Headspace gauges came in today from Amazon purchase. Go and No Go. Field gauge should be in next week from Midway. It's getting closer. :))
  3. Nice range. 300 yds. is better than just 100. Looks like fun. <thumbsup>
  4. I think I saw it in the sidebar stuff on FB. I really don't remember.
  5. Outstanding thread, Token. I need this information myself. Glad you put this up here. <thumbsup>

A cousin of one of the members of a deer lease I used to have got attacked by one of those things. Supposedly he had just gotten out of his deer stand, which was a box blind only about 4 ft. off the ground. He had just taken a few steps and something jumped on his back with some sort of loud yell. Scared him so bad he dropped his weapon and ran and wouldn't go back for it by himself. Supposedly whatever jumped on his back was equally as scared trying to hold on to him while he was making' tracks and finally let go. When asked he said he never really saw what it was that well because it was getting dark but said it definitely was a monkey. Some of those things were supposedly used in disease research so there's no telling what they would transfer to you via a good bite.
  7. "Varget powder and moly-coated 168 gr. Sierra Match Kings work for me." This is the next subject I'm going to have to research. I know nothing of reloading and I don't know where to start with powders, projectiles, etc. Got to be a world unto itself.

Yep ... that's how we got all of our exotics here. A good friend of mine shot a huge Red Stag several years ago on the Y-O ranch. Red Stags sure as hell aren't native to Texas ... LOL I really think some of this should be curtailed. I cannot imagine why we would ever want to allow warthogs in Texas. Nasty pack-running little buggers that will no doubt become a constant and uncontrollable pest like all the pythons and boas released in the Everglades in Florida and the lab monkeys that escaped several years ago from a lab in our hill country.
  9. Congrats Yoda. Thanks for the great job in getting everything out to everyone. <thumbsup>

    What is that, a warthog?
  12. SWEET ... Looks like a job well-done. <thumbsup>
  13. Good question ... I offer 3 reasons; 1. I have an AR15 in .223 / 5.56 caliber and one in 7.62x39. I do not have an AR in .308 caliber at this very moment but it is well in the works. 2. After I complete the .308 I'll have at least one weapon in the most common calibers of all hostile nations, to include the corrupt and worthless scam-and-scum UN, and violent criminal cartels. I feel with the current world situation and the fact I live in a border state these are some of the basic necessities. 3. I got bored and needed to build another weapon in a caliber I didn't have.
  14. That Ellis is an absolute JACKASS ... he's the "Anointed One" of Texas, with LUNATIC Queen Sheila being the female version thereof.
  15. Right on ... (same here) ... :hethan:
  16. MAJOR BUMMER ... :wtf: Hope it all works out.
  17. AWESOME ... CONGRATS BOB !!! <thumbsup> That's one fine looking gun. Everything looks to have turned out real well. 9 lbs. is what I had targeted for max. weight on mine. Looks like it's going to have a good balance too. I'm sure the BCG and the bolt catch will ease up in time. Needs some rounds put through it for break-in. Think positive. <thumbsup> I'd like to know how that Leapers scope turns out. I've had my eye on one for my 7.62x39.
  18. Got a nice little shipment in today ... got a couple of new ammo cans, boresighter, AR15 lower receiver, buffer tube and castle nut, BCM A2 stock (that's missing the top stock screw), 60 .308 rds., preceded by my .308 carbine barrel, 5 Magpul 25 rd mags, .308 bore brushes, carbine gas tube and spare pins that came in the past 2 days. Might have a chance to get a little busy with all this over the weekend. :))

F.Y.I. Texans ... OPEN CARRY HAS PASSED ... on it's way now to Abbott's desk for final signature. <thumbsup>
  20. Open carry (by permit) has passed in Texas. On it's way to Abbott's desk Just a few minutes ago from the Texas State Rifle Association; " HB 910 Licensed Open Carry Finally Passes Just now in the Texas Capitol HB 910 by Rep. Larry Phillips (R-Sherman) was taken up in the House today to clean up differences between the House and Senate versions. This happened around 5:00 pm and it passed! Half an hour later in the Senate, Sen. Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) was recognized by Lt. Governor Patrick to take up the conference committee report, same reason, to clean up differences between the Senate and House versions. Sen. Rodney Ellis seemed a bit surprised! You see he had threatened to filibuster the bill and talk it dead. That did not happen and minutes later, HB 910 by Phillips and Estes, is finally passed and headed for Abbott's desk! " Constitutional carry is next. <thumbsup>
  21. Good point but with the way open carry and campus carry is NOT going, along with the death of the sanctuary city and in-state tuition bills for illegals, I wish this session would be extended. If they don't pass the carry bills this time a lot of folks are going to be understandably VERY PISSED. I can't figure out why they even have to waste their time on sanctuary city and in-state tuition bills at all. Those issues shouldn't even exist. At least they passed the no-sharia law bill, but as I understand that one got closer than a lot of folks expected.
  22. Thanks again for the information on these bolts. I think I have a JP Products bolt but I'm not sure as I bought it long before I actually finished the weapon and I think I got it at a gun show. So far it has lasted 40 rounds ... LOL
  23. Thank you. I stand corrected.

Canned heat ... WHAT CANNED HEAT ... ??? The only "Canned Heat" I remember was an awesome rock and roll band. None of the first MRE(s) had any sort of heating capabilities. If you ate any of it hot you either soaked the sealed package in hot water or you reconstituted various dehydrated items with hot water. We were not allowed any heating element, etc., whatsoever. This is NOT good when you're on the flightline all day / night in the Netherlands, the land of 60 degree summers. And I don't know what all has changed with USAF chow, but to date the best military meal I ever had was breakfast at a US Army field kitchen in West Germany, and that was just once.

We dealt with a lot of the same stuff but without weapons and the humps, overnighters. Never any real range time. Believe me, we did get to enjoy the great outdoors in my AFSC. :)) We did not have hot water to make coffee or any way to heat our meals. We were prohibited from having any heating elements in our area. C-rations were not bad when cold but when the MRE(s) came out we had no hot water to reconstitute more than half the meal.
