  1. So, uh, this happened today...
  2. Welcome to the forum from Oklahoma!
  3. Good news! Just got an e-mail that my LaRue order has shipped. Seeing as how they're in TX and I'm in OK, I'm hoping to have my box o' triggers by the weekend.
  4. That sounds painful... Glad I jumped in on the LaRue Easter sale when I did. Wouldn't want to be walking around with half my a$$ missing. Half my stomach, now that wouldn't be so bad...
  5. Got a call from my buddy who owns the local pawn shop. My FA lower arrived yesterday. Picked it up and, just as I suspected, it's a lower. Not sure what else I expected -- sure doesn't feel like $120 worth of anodized aluminum...
  6. I'd have demanded that they reimburse you the fees to re-inspect and re-title (you'll be on a salvage or rebuilt title now, not a clean title). And that's not to mention the fact that you'll never be able to sell it for anything close to market value (again, salvage/rebuilt title -- nobody will pay top dollar). Insurance is the oldest form of legalized gambling in the U.S. Therefore, I look at insurance companies like casinos. You pay them month after month, betting they will pay you more than the total premiums you've paid them at some point in the future. On the flip side, they're betting they'll never have to pay out or, if they do, it will be less than the total you've paid them over the years. So, if you have at least a leg to stand on and insist that they pay you more money in order to get you to go away, they generally will. EDIT: Having said all that, seems to me you ended up in a pretty good position. I agree with everyone else -- tube bumpers would be a great place to start burning that money. Next step should be a decent Calmini suspension...
  7. 10-22, just checked the MBT sale thread and found the definition. Lol!
  8. You lost me at 65b...
  9. 4 LaRue MBTs and a Fulton lower. Damn those Easter sales!
  10. Well. Hell. Just saw where LaRue is having an Easter sale. MBTs for $99 again. Ordered 4 -- 1 for my .308, 1 for the wife's AR, 1 for a friend, and 1 for this, umm, box of parts. Right after I clicked 'Place Order' on LaRue's website, Fulton Armory sends me an e-mail about their Easter sale.15% off all receivers and barrels, and 10% off everything else. I now have a lower on the way. I kind of hate myself right now... Any of you Texas guys have a doghouse to rent out?
  11. Ordered up 4 just now... 1 for the .308, 1 for the wife's Bushy, 1 for a friend, and 1 for the rifle I may build sometime in the future... Thanks for the heads up! They're also offering one of their A-PEG grips as part of the package for an additional $10. Picked up a couple of those to try out.
  12. Looking at the pic of the plate above, it appears to be PACA (Point Blank).
  13. I'm a trigger and lower away from having a rifle in a box... I've been waiting for LaRue to put the MBTs on sale at $99.99 (as I understand they do a couple times a year), but I'm thinking (hoping?) I'll have permission and a built rifle before they go on sale again. Jumped on MidwayUSA just looking for a mil-spec trigger on the cheap, just to hold me over until I can pick up a couple of MBTs, and stumbled upon the AR-Stoner Enhanced Trigger Group for $29.99. I read the reviews and the vast majority were positive, with some mediocre and a handful of negative reviews. I figured for $30, worst case scenario I have an interesting paperweight for my desk. Anyone have any experience with that trigger? I'm not expecting it to be much better than mil-spec, but it was priced right.
  14. Still waiting for LaRue to have a sale on MBTs so I can order one for my LR-308 and one for my Dissy project (that I'm not buying parts for...). In the meantime, ordered up an AR-Stoner "Enhanced Trigger Group" from Midway USA to try out. For $30, what the hell? Lots of good reviews, some mediocre reviews, and a handful of bad reviews on Midway's site. Not expecting it to be much better than mil-spec, maybe I'll be surprised.
  15. I'm sure grandpa has a single-shot 12 gauge hid in his closet for home defense. Would he really ask the burglars what they have in their hands before pulling the trigger? Regardless... 21 O.S. §733: A. Homicide is also justifiable when committed by any person in any of the following cases: 1. When resisting any attempt to murder such person, or to commit any felony upon him, or upon or in any dwelling house in which such person is; 2. When committed in the lawful defense of such person or of another, when the person using force reasonably believes such force is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to terminate or prevent the commission of a forcible felony; or 3. When necessarily committed in attempting, by lawful ways and means, to apprehend any person for any felony committed; or in lawfully suppressing any riot; or in lawfully keeping and preserving the peace. B. As used in this section, "forcible felony" means any felony which involves the use or threat of physical force or violence against any person. 733(A)(1) and (A)(2) apply here. The threat of physical force of violence was present here. Possession of brass knuckles could be spun in such a way as to be used as a tool for breaking glass, but in Oklahoma they are still considered a dangerous weapon which is illegal to carry. The knife is unquestionably a dangerous/deadly weapon. Possessing these items during the commission of a burglary will strongly suggest to a jury that they intended to threaten and/or commit physical violence upon any person they discovered inside that home.
  16. I believe the DA intends to file Felony Murder charges against her. In Oklahoma, if someone is killed during the commission of a felony -- even a co-conspirator killed by a property owner -- all surviving co-conspirators can be found guilty of murder. Essentially, the law looks at it this way: Had they not committed the felony of burglary, no one would be dead. Therefore, any loss of life that occurred during or as a result of the commission of the felony is the fault of those who committed the underlying crime.
  17. "It is not clear whether the owner wants the gun back." First, it's covered in sh!t. Someone else's sh!t. Second, I'd be too embarrassed to admit I'm the owner of a Jimenez to come claim it.
  18. I wonder if any other states extended offers that were even comparable to Connecticut's... The hypocrisy of this deal goes both ways. On the one hand, Colt is going to be headquartered in a state where they can't even sell many of their products. From a business standpoint, this was a good move. Low cost to start with, and if they hire 100 CT residents, they only have to pay back 80% of the principal on the loan. I understand the business side of the decision. The political side of it is the messy part. On the other hand, you have the state of Connecticut saying, "We can't trust our residents with these firearms and/or 'high capacity' (read: standard capacity) magazines, but we will gladly let a manufacturer bring in jobs and tax dollars while only selling many of their products to other, less fortunate states whose citizens are not as safe as we are here."
  19. http://okcfox.com/news/local/wagoner-co-sheriffs-office-investigating-triple-homicide-in-broken-arrow-area Looks like she may get charged with 3 counts of felony murder. Not sure at this point, but the 3 counts of Burglary I may be based on a conspiracy argument.
  20. I say that because that's essentially what they're doing -- adding AR-pattern parts (albeit aftermarket/modern/"tactical" parts) to non-AR-pattern weapons. Maybe "M4-ifying" would be more accurate. I added an UltiMAK rail to my Mini-14 to run scout optics with (was going to buy a Burris 2-7x32 Scout scope, then I bought my first AR... Guess where all my disposable money is going now...). I don't have a problem with adding rails to "conventional" firearms, but I fail to see the benefit of tactical pistol grips, collapsible buttstocks, etc. on EVER'DAMNTHING.
  21. Just ordered the last AR barrel nut wrench from Accuracy Speaks. Several articles online agreed theirs was hands-down the best. Called them up and they said they had one left and will not be having any more made. Just PayPal'ed the money to them. For $55 it damn well better be the best at the one thing it does.
  22. I still don't understand this concept of "AR-ifying" everything. See, for example... Mossberg 464 SPX: Mini-14 SCAR stock: And, to a lesser extent, the Stoeger Double Defense: Because everyone knows Tier 1 operators prefer lever actions and side by side shotguns over semi-automatics. And they would definitely run a Mini-14 over an AR platform. And they only run the best -- like Mossberg, Ruger, and Stoeger.
  23. Ordered up some Wheeler Delta Series tools from OpticsPlanet... AR-15 Roll Pin Installation Kit (2-sided brass/delrin hammer, punches, roll pin holders, and roll pin press); and AR Armorer's Bench Block (going to install the forward assist roll pin on my FA upper -- that should hold me until I order up the lower and can really get to work). Already picked up a Delta Ring tool and TD/pivot pin install tool from Academy a couple weeks ago. Literally all I need to have a complete AR15 in boxes is a trigger (waiting for LaRue to have a sale...) and a lower (trying to wait for FA to have another sale, but that's not working too well...). Wait, I do have the mil-spec trigger that came out of my LR-308...
  24. So...umm... Before FA's winter 10% off sale ended, I ordered an LPK, rifle buffer/tube/spring, buffer tube spacer, and upper buttstock screw. For the upper I'm not building. Because I don't have permission. And I'm definitely NOT building a rifle. Yet.
