  1. yeah, I would never recommend a cheap Remington. if you need an affordable rifle, Thompson center or savage is the way to go in my book.
  2. My father in law purchased a Rem 770 in .30-06 last year and with little practice he took it hunting. during opening weekend he had several jams/failure to load with the rifle. Just a few minutes ago I took a look at the rifle, seems that the rounds get caught on the feed ramp possibly. At least 50% of the rounds will not chamber. I plan on poking at it a bit more and shooting it to continue to see any problems, but I figured I would ask if anyone here is familiar with the feeding problems of this rifle and any possible fixes.

    Classic!!!!!

lol. got to love the accuracy of the hellfire trigger, and it even works while holding the gun over your head and shooting! got to have one! notice they weren't even gripping the weapons, wonder why that is. i need an annihilator 2000! who doesn't need a microwave on their gun? i would use it.
  8. I see this thread heading off in another direction, like usual. lol. Magwa, thanks for the information and article on the wolves/disease. but I still would probably keep the pelts, I have gloves and protective gear the state issues me for dealing with people that have diseases, so I will just use that gear. :P
  9. yeah looks really cool, but I think I would rather have most of my parts in FDE Cerakote with the barrel, buffer tube, and some smaller parts being black. would blend in better to my surroundings, plus a little bit cheaper. need to buy little bits at a time with my funds anyways. but yes very cool a pretty good deal.
  10. lol. I have connections. I am not one of those people that just wants to shoot wolves because I think they are bad. everyone around here says to shoot them but I find them beautiful and don't mind them. But when they aren't afraid of humans and could harm my family, they got to go. just like a porcupine that was eating my stairs the other day, all I need is my son walking up and petting it. lol. and actually when my son did see the wolves, he pointed and said doggy... not good.
  11. bore lasers are great for mounting new sights or scopes, never had much use for them beyond getting the general area. still can safe a lot of time and rounds if you aren't hitting paper.
  12. the fugly ones try so much harder in other ways though, just keep the lights off.
  13. lol. I would want the shots to be good and I would keep the pelts. I know the dnr around here and I think them being in my yard and threatening to my family is justification enough.
  14. I did have 5 wolves in my yard two days ago... might have to shoot them, they weren't scared of my wife, just stood there 20 yards away
  15. yeah we still have mosquitos up here shepp, has made bow season suck!
  16. Why is a forward assist and dustcover so important to you? I've used ARs for my job/s the past 8 years of my life, the only time I ever needed a forward assist was when I was doing night ops in the stan and as we went outside the wire in the pitch black we would slightly bring back the bolt to finger check that a round was chambered, we would then release the charging handle, let it go forward that short amount, and then push the forward assist. no other time did I have need for the thing, all it did for me was catch carbon on the inside and dirt on the outside. so I don't believe it is needed for anyone not in a combat zone doing night ops. as for the dustcover, that is slightly more useful, but the average person isn't crawling around in dirt and mud abusing their weapons. when ready to rock, the bolt is already forward covering the ejection port, so chances of debris getting in is minimal for the average hunter/target shooter. and when the bolt is open, you are either letting your weapon cool down, reloading, or having it open to visibly show the weapon is clear on the range. again this is another part that collects dust and dirt and is difficult to clean around, and simply not needed for the average person outside of a combat zone. I understand personal preferences, we all have them; but maybe think about need vs want and if it is even really worth it. and I have to agree with shepp, it seems very silly to spend money on a rifle that it seems like you want to change everything on except the lower. I suggest getting some nice glass, shoot what you got, it may surprise you how much you like the simplicity of the setup, and it may be as accurate as you need it to be already. besides, most of the time, the weapons are more accurate than the shooters that wield them.
  17. yeah, I shoot with my weak eye, but I have to close my left eye in order to do so, which the firearms instructors harp on me for all the time. lol.
  18. then again, if you are one with your gun, your other firearms might think you no longer love them.
  19. what I do when shooting my ARs is put my nose against the charging handle to get the same cheek weld each time... but then again I have a big nose. lol. having the scope about even with, or slightly before or after the charging handle depending on your cheek weld should be about right for most people. before tightening it down, find what works best for you so you can get a consistent cheek weld each shot. it is about what works best for each person and what is comfortable. but I believe wash is right, the scope does look to far back. with any rifle, you want to lean into it whether you are standing or in the prone, a scope to far back means your head will be back farther which naturally moves your shoulders back. you wont be absorbing the recoil as much.
  20. just the Obama administration weakening our military for the future invasion of America
  21. I do practice left handed. during our qualifications, many of our shots have to be with the reaction hand. but my right side is my dominate side, so teaching myself to shoot lefty as dominate wouldn't work that well because I have a lot of other tools on my belt other than a pistol. I would have to learn everything over, including defense and arrest techniques. not to mention, idk if they would issue me new gear if I was to switch sides, such as pistol holster and taser holster. so while practicing left handed is useful for anyone and everyone, trying to change someone completely in almost every tactical way would be in my eyes not worth it. I'm good enough and fast enough with a pistol even being funky eyed, that I would rather continue dealing with it than put that much time and money into switching the way I have been for so long. bullseye might just be a quick fix though, if not, no loss, will just have to deal with the handicap. lol.
  22. lol. I'm not gonna judge, he's rich.
  23. https://www.thegunwriter.com/21393/product-review-meprolights-ft-bullseye-pistol-sight-wvideo/ I was able to find this review on it, the glare problem might mean a no go since I operate around bright emergency lights. who knows though, might still give it a try for my personal someday. https://www.botach.com/meprolight-ft-bullseye-fiber-optic-reflex-pistol-sight-w-tritium-reticle/ cheapest I was able to find it.
  24. i took an astronomy course in college, and i found that funny also. maybe he was talking about going a shorter distance that most people don't usually go because asteroids or something. haha
  25. rifles and shotguns is no problem because most optics and sights you close one eye anyways. shooting pistol is a different story. I often find myself needing to close my left eye. maybe I will see if my wife can get the Bullseye for me for Christmas, we will see. AR-10 build first.
