  1. GRIT: infantry definition- intestinal fortitude
  2. beautiful gun and nice shooting. you'll have to keep me posted on the Firefield scope, may be in the price range I can convince my wife to let me spend. haha
  3. welcome from somewhere else in Wisconsin. lol. Seems Wisconsin is taking over this forum. whahaha
  4. I don't ever see a chance of standardizing the "ar308" because many companies are getting profit from both AR10 or LR308 platforms, such as magpul for example who has parts for both. Or individual companies keep business by making it so their parts only work with their rifles (or maybe just fewer companies), such as rock river arms, who is great but there is trouble when it comes to using many parts from other companies. AR15s were only standardized because of mil spec from the military, although there is also commercial too, and there are other companies that make their own specs, so there is no true standardization and some times you got to do little modifications to make parts work if they weren't meant for your platform. If your question is basically you trying to get an answer off of what platform you should build off of, thinking of which platform will be easier to get parts for now and in the future, my suggestion is to not worry to much on that. My suggestion is find an upper and lower matching receivers that you like and fits your budget and just go from there.
  5. Welcome form somewhere in the middle of all the other Wisconsin people. lol. I believe 20 in should be just fine for hunting if you are the type that sits in a comfy box stand, and good for target shooting, especially at longer distances where the extra velocity can help. but if you stalk your prey at times or hunt in an area that takes a rough walk, might wanna shed some ounces where you can.
  6. it's kindergarten, is there even a right or wrong answer? lol. besides, the DEMONcrats have been ruining the school systems, so what does it matter? lol.
  7. Welcome from... well I thought I was western Wisconsin... hmmm, who is farther west now. haha.
  8. lol. like I said, I like to save money to use on other things. The kids put me on a tight budget. lol.
  9. I think the federal government is afraid we will end up with more firepower than them if they don't regulate us.
  10. haha. happy birthday SS. buy yourself something nice to show all of us. :P
  11. besides, pretty sure plenty of people here have experience with them. :P Welcome from central Wisconsin... The frozen marsh!
  12. Looks like meat in the freezer to me... I'll shoot basically anything as long as it looks over a year old. I hunt for meat.
  13. save money to use it on more gun parts, duh.
  14. cant go wrong with .308. :)
  15. So I switched stand locations yesterday. was so close to my house the DNR would probably want to range it to see if it was legal. lol. but there are deer there and I figured what hunter in his mind would get close to a cop's house? Well 30 minutes before dusk I hear a deer. Finally! All of a sudden I see a white tail and the deer takes off, I'm wondering what spooked it when all of a sudden I see blaze orange walking towards me. I was thinking, you got to be freaking kidding me! Who walks around 30 minutes before dusk? This is the first year I have hunted on public land, and I hate it. Thousands of acres around here, but all the hunters have to be near my house. wtf
  16. ok, so the mobile 1, after soaking it for weeks till it has absorbed it all in the pores, you just wipe it off and don't need to add lube? or you add some more mobile 1 when shooting? Just trying to get specifics because I love the sounds of saving money. :P
  17. does mpro7 make a lubricant? I've always just used their cleaner, which wasn't bad but also didn't blow me away either.
  18. you know what would be cool? a buttstock with a slot to place your phone in it. so you can have a firm cheek weld while shooting and talking on your phone!
  19. the wind was horrid! I had a couple of idiots just walking around my stand. stupid public land. so I didn't see a thing. on my way back to the house I jumped a few deer about 20 yards from my garage... might just sit on my back deck tomorrow with a beer and my rifle.
  20. what do you use for lube? everyone I know uses rem oil and I hate the stuff. I've tried several types but so far I like gold old CLP best.
  21. Welcome from central Wisconsin! What do you plan on using your ".308" AR for?
  22. oh boy, here we go again
  23. oh cool. I likey. do you use that for your bolt carrier group also?

Lol. fair enough JJ. I just don't have the money to just have fun... I have kids. lol. if I did have the money to shoot like that though, I would want to shoot from a belt fed platform. http://www.beltfedar.com/belt_feed_conversions/ https://fightlite.com/collections/belt-fed-uppers a carbon fiber wrapped barrel to keep it cool would help too. Wash, is this a build that should be liquid cooled?
  25. yeah, one day at the range I put 17k rounds through my m4, had to clean it a few times that day. lol. Shot so much my barrel ended up so bent that I could practical curve my bullets to shoot around corners! haha. now that I have to buy all my own ammo, besides the 4 times a year my agency supplies ammo at the range, I cringe at the cost of just 17 rounds. haha.
