  1. The current party in government here in Canada here has announced a $600M media industry bailout . The government says it will be transparent and non partisan yet one of the stakeholders involved in allocation of money is Unifor( Canadian union that was Canadian Autoworkers Union) which has publicly come out and said they would do everything in their power to fight the Conservative Party( currently leading in the polls as we approach a federal election) But hey I'm sure a financial battered industry will not be influenced by the promise of bailout money
  2. Being a responsible pet owner these days now means more than just spaying...
  3. Much easier to get a scared people to give up rights and freedoms for the promise of security.
  4. and way more qualified to be in Congress then Big AOC. Sadly AOC is not an army of one as to the stupidity that politicians are capable of on either side of the 48th parallel.
  5. We have the same issue up here with the antis. While most people focus on the tragedy, the antis almost seem to delight in their 'I told you so glee' and then take advantage to further spread false information to further their agenda. An example on 23 April 2018 a person used a rental van and killed 10 people and injured 15 other people in Toronto. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_van_attack Then on the 22nd July 2018 also in Toronto a person with a handgun killed 2 people and injured 13. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Toronto_shooting I think we can all agree that both these incidents are tragic yet without going into a lot of background guess which incident was used to blame an inanimate object? While it seems acceptable to label gun owners with a broad brush based on the actions of one or two peoples action we are told after an attack it is wrong to blame a whole group (race, religion) of people for the actions of a few. Within a month the van killing was no longer a news item and it was the 'actions of a trouble' person, while for month later the shooting was used to run stories and editorials about how guns are evil. More people in Canada and even Toronto are aware of the shooting then of the van attack primarily in that the antis dance on the graves of the victims to promote their agenda with no real interest in actually trying to solve the real problem.
  6. For me,I used YouTube to get the basics and procedure down then reloading books and bullet manufacture's sites for specific values. I have the Lee Classic Turret and it's been a great press for me. Not sure what you plan on reloading but I suggest starting with an easy cartridge ( straight wall pistol) to start with and get a feel for set up and cycling through the steps. A ridged bench to bolt to and good light, especially to look into and see powder in case goes along way. Might I suggest starting a new thread with a more appropriate subject tittle, as it's more likely the guys on here with way more reloading knowledge/experience here might see it and help educate the two of us.
  7. Strange in that it shows up on my screen still. I'll try this...
  8. Seeing as you do it for free, whore is not the word I'd use ... A good day of shooting is never long enough.
  9. There is some hope that this was leaked pre election to gauge reaction and to see how much push back the gun community would give. On the plus side it got a number of people off the fence and buying
  10. A lot of rumors and some leaks have a number of people believing the Liberal government will be using the incident to further their agenda banning of fire arms. In particular the AR-15( so deadly a rifle no army in the world uses it). The talk is that this will be announced June 4th at Women's Conference Vancouver and the Prime Minister of New Zealand is supposedly a guest. When asked to confirm or deny this government spokesperson and ministers have been vague neither confirming or flat out saying it's not true. While a ban is quite possible a confiscation is highly unlikely. This in part due to the number of ARs would make this an expensive thing to implement. Current owners would be grandfathered so those not possessing couldn't posses, buy or trade ARs in the future. The reaction of the fire arms community has to put on sale ARs and stripped lowers( this is the part considered a gun) and trying to find a stripped lower right now hard. People with several AR or stripped lowers have gifted to close friends and family that don't have an AR to boost up the number of owners. One thing we have over New Zealand is the number of guns which is estimated at around 12.7 million in Canada, so the cost of any buy back would be expensive. Also in our favor we are going into a federal election in October. Once the election is called all legislation on the table dies. The current government is polling in second place this could further weaken their chances in rural riding that they barely hung onto. Quebec which has the most anti gun legislation in Canada, brought in it's own registration of non restricted firearms unlike other provinces and has only seen approximately 30% compliance since law came into effect. It's going to be a long week... TL;DR- possible gun ban announcement coming to Canada beginning of June
  11. As we say around here 'That's pretty skookum'
  12. Thank much appreciated,I'll be doing that once I've done now tracking down dies and brass
  13. Barrel(20 in) and parts needed to build a 6.5mm Gerndel upper have been ordered.
  14. They filmed Catwomen up here and at the time my girlfriend's father was working on the set. We went down one night to hang out while Halle wasn't on set her stunt double was and
  15. Thanks, What I saw on paper had me leaning towards the 20 as there didn't seem to be a real world advantage to the 24. A dealer up here has a package with barrel,BCG etc, pretty much everything but the lower and the stripped upper with a choice between 20 and 24. Because the build is going on a limited run Canadian lower I wanted something accurate and not common. I haven't come across anyone up here shooting the 6.5 Gerndel, luckily I reload.
  16. Due to some peer pressure from here...well more of a slight nudge, I'm going to do a 6.5 Grendel build. I have the option of a 20 or 24 inch barrel so which should I go with? The rifle will be range rifle paper puncher not a hunting rifle so weight difference isn't an issue.
  17. My trick for stitches removal is to soak the area in baby oil 10-12 hrs before I remove them. Don't even feel them slide out,my theory is the baby oil wick up along the stitching. Staples suck when they twist up and have to be removed.
  18. Well I didn't win so I'll try and try again next year, it's not like I feel I lost this year either
  19. That's all fine till you get hungry and want a sandwich made...
  20. Gun safes are like garage/workshops while there are brief fleeting moments in time we achieve a balance of space and stuff. All that really is just a pause in the endless journey of exceeding capacity after having increased capacity
  21. Well when the people writing firearms laws know nothing about how guns works other then what they've seen in the movies there is no need to talk to people that actually know. The only thing restricted magazine laws do is force the shooter to practice mag changes more often thus becoming faster.
  22. So a Quebec anti gun group twitter post about a gun sale( Ontario company) I guess trying to show how cheap and easily available 'assault weapons' are. Of course ignoring in Canada assault rifles are prohibited, no army in the world uses the AR-15, this fire arm is classed restricted so you need a restricted licence( 2 day course+thorough police check + references) and the store must submit your name to transfer registration into your name before you can take possession. Well the comments are amusing.
  23. Hopefully they aren't smokers...
