  3. So a few years back some fellow Canadian tried out an Appleseed event which then led them to instructor bootcamp in Waco. The events are so popular they sell out and we're seeing some locals in training to be instructors. It's a great program not only for shooters but as a tool to introduce new people to the sport. This is my second year going and had a blast. So a shout out and thanks to Project Appleseed for and if anyone has done it would like to compare similarities and differences between Appleseed and Mapleseed.
  4. Did a job at a transmitter station for local TV up on the mountain. On the notice board inside was a poster about spotted owls( local here). It took every bit of self discipline not to tack a recipe to the notice.

  12. Just to make it more interesting... make a couple of the targets critical targets that require a hit to allow the brake at the end to engage and slow you down gently...
  13. Not sure how it is in New Zealand but here in Canada only prohibited and restricted class firearms are registered, non-restricted were not registered then registered and we had a slight win a while back and no longer registered. It's estimated that currently 10.5 million unregistered firearms in Canada. Up here the Grande is non restricted along with Stag 10 rifle. A lot of stuff will disappear before it gets turned in. Quebec which is the most anti gun province of all recently created it's own registry for non restricted rifles, the deadline has passed and compliance has been about 25% with a large number of that being store inventory. The current government saw a huge increase in AR sales in the last month on rumors of a ban, pretty much all stripped lowers and AR rifles sold out across Canada.

  18. Complete And Finished. (Possibly fiction) In a linguistic competition held in London and attended by, supposedly, the best in the world, Mr. Samdar Balgobin, a Guyanese man, was the clear winner with a standing ovation which lasted over 5 minutes. The final question was: How do you explain the difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED in a way that is easy to understand? Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED. Here is his astute answer: When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE. When you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED. And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED!
  19. To be honest till now I'd never seen let alone heard of Sweet Sue Canned Chicken. Is eating a whole can a hazing thing? 'cause eating a whole BBQ chicken is doable.
  20. You say that but a bush pilot up here taught me that dried dog food is the perfect emergency rations( he carried a large bag in his plane) It is high in protein, keeps well in sealed bags and most importantly taste like crap. The taste is the key factor as you'll only eat enough to take the edge off the starvation so a Ziploc back will last a lot longer then equivalent weight MRE
