Question for anyone out there, do you think HSS drill rod would be a fair substitute for the steel used in ejectors? (Not asking about the economics of fabbing $5.00 parts, just the material!) When trying to drill the old one out, my guess would be HSS or maybe 5% cobalt in hardness. Needed solid carbide to really cut it.

Second project with the new benchmill. First project was the mount/ spacers for the over travel switch on the x axis power feed.

Tough little bugger, wouldn't come out on it's own, and milling / drilling with the spring behind it was problematic. Broke a couple of carbide endmills in the process. Bore a couple thousands oversized, thinking about making a couple of O/S ejectors out of a #22 or a 4mm drill rod. Probably easy enough f I do the AR15 style cut.

Just saying, before you do anything else try shutting it down a bit. I have had builds that extracted unreliably from too much gas, closing the gas block down a little fixed it right up. Last one, mid length 6.5, running at about 2 in from full open. Before that, 308 somewhere between carbine and mid, 2-1/2 in or so. Ports at around .08something if I remember. Seen other posts that bleed off blocks don't bleed enough for 308's to make a difference.

@Scott76 But what i'm asking is did you try turning it down, the other way, not bleed off but closed a click at a time? What brand block?

@Scott76Just curious, did you try cranking the gas block closed until the bolt wouldn't lock back? I think I saw in your original post that the BCG always locked back. It's possible some of the blow by type AGB's will not vent enough gas to make much of a difference in 308's. I have one on a midlength and that seems to be the case. EDIT Bleed-off, Superlative Arms is the one I'm referring to.

If it is the Billet Aluminum one I use the Radian Talon Ambi's on identical ones no problem. BUT, the Radians are a generous fit on the forged AR15 lowers. PS Welcome to the forum!

OK, without the rear takedown pin installed, does everything look correct? Gaps all line up? close up all the way? If no, maybe takedown pocket not deep enough. If yes, I've seen slotted rear takedown holes, no big deal. Takedown is the "Give" when aligning the 3 points of 80% frames, front pivot and extension tube the other two.

I have the 3000bdx paired up with a Sierra 6.5-24×52 bdx, the weather meter would make the trifecta! It's a great system, love the binos. Just ordered a new mill, no gubment money but spent my Mexico money, cant travel so what the hey.

Sprinco Hot White, H2 buffer, non adjustible gas block. Fired a couple rounds in the basement this evening, feeds correctly and LRBHO. Couldn't tell where it ejected, ping ping pingggg. Need the optics to show up and the range to open!
