What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
billymagg replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
Goes in a hurry doesn't it! I bought the last 18" Tactical Hunter 300 HAM'R that Brownell's had, it is threaded but at least its fluted! still looking for a slick sided BCG! -
Both very nice, though I noticed a couple of reviews mentioned issues with eye relief on the Primary Arms, that was one of the issues with the vortex, but I loved the side focus, that was very helpful... I was trying to upgrade my Redfield Battlezone 3 X 9 X 32, but actually the Redfield is pretty good. I found myself maxing out at about 10 to 12 power at 145 yards or so, as it was getting dark.. I really like the Athlon, and I really like illumination. and I could have gotten a cantilever mount, I just have rail on the receiver, I have a tube handguard.. are there any US, JAP or Phillipine made scopes that are affordable? I hate giving my business and money to China, I really do!

But to be honest, I'm plunking down some cash for a Wilson barrel for that Wilson Small frame billet, I'm still leaning toward that Wilson 30 cal in the blown out 5.56 case, they have LOTS of ammo, and it looks like it would be very straightforward to reload. There is no 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel to be had in these parts, but 6.5 Creed out the butt... The 18" Wilson Ultra Light Hunter barrel has been discontinued, it was fluted with no threads... Wilson is putting the brakes on some of their more labor intensive barrels, and cutting down their line of BCG's to all F/A... they have added more billet uppers, standard, lightweight, standard with F/A, and lightweight with F/A... I like all three of these rounds for the small frame AR, and the 30 cal uses the 5.56 BCG and 300 Blackout mags, a lot simpler conversion, and you can always buy another upper with a 5.56 barrel... any idea on a small frame non F/A BCG that's in stock??

Sounds good, we had a farm between Murfreesboro and Nashville on the Stones river, miss my Southern Life... damn Yankees!
-
I'm not sure I've got the mil ret dialed in, but I"m willing to listen, what do you have in mind?
-
Hey, were can I get a nice BCG with no Forward Assist cuts, and I mean in stock, or at least hopeful... I like the Youngs and Wilson, but all Wilson's new BCG's have FA cuts. small frame right now, but I will probably build another large frame soon, I need a 6.5 Creed... thanks billy.

No doubt, Shooter did you save me any of those??? I shot some 150 gr Fed's and some 62 gr Fed green tip in my rifles the night before last, at 145 yds. Both rifles did well, but I don't think either rifle is terribly happy with them. Much better than the Tulammo though! I bought a 6x24x50 Vortex Diamondback, not bad for Chinese glass, but terrible eye relief even at lower magnification, and I hate the reticle, its great for daylight, but kinda slips as the light fades.. its going back.. any recommendations for something reasonable with a lighted reticule?

Your Aero Precision BCG is out of stock at "Cheaper Than Dirt" , I didn't check the rest, but looks like you're on the right track... actually its showing in stock in Clearance AR-10 goodies, so your are in luck...

Wilson is of course my favorite, because they have not only the billet receivers, but barrels, bcgs, and that work well with their receiver sets, they also offer a light weight billet in addition to the regular cut, and of course they are gorgeous. The Wilson billet upper and lower were priced at $439 with the armor coating, but they have recently gone up a little. I like Mega, Cross Machine and Tool, Grey Ghost Precison, Rainier, and I could go on, the Aero Precision is a very nice, and widely used receiver set with lots of support, that functions very well, and is as edgecrusher stated a "very good bang for the buck, and our member's highly recommend them! Even Billet sets with Flags, crazy camo, and a skull machined into the exterior surface of the magwell. Gibz isn't the only one with issues either, maybe Edge can list some to avoid, or 98, he's a wealth of information, cause He's tried em all!!

Well, they do have a 20" fluted, slick muzzle 6.5 Grendel barrel for 314.00 I may have to take 98's second or third favorite cartridge choice for the small frame AR.... but I was hoping to go with a shorter barrel?? thanks to 98's other current "official observations" that short barrels are better than shish kabob! -
I'm happy to hear that, this crap can knock you on your azz, if you have pre-existing conditions, or other previously unknown health issues, so I'm out and about every day with all the chillin at school. I used to substitute teach after losing my Hospice Chaplain, Volunteer Coordinator, Bereavement Coordinator position with TIP HOSPICE! Thanks to that poop Obamacare! I've been pretty fortunate to avoid most of shiet over the years, but folks here in down state Central Obamastan are currently under a "lite siege", LOL... but hell, that's what happens when you turn gorgeous prairie farm land into a third world former Soviet Republic,, Hell the only thing that has kept me going is God, and family, and this wicked sardonic sense of humor that scares the hell out of 98% of the general public! I drive a school bus now for grin and giggles, and health insurance!

Dang, Dag Nabbit, Sum BEE!!!, I just pulled up my cart on Wilson Combat, and the 18 Ultralight Hunter fluted with NO threads is out of stock, dammit, dammit, dammit, and I pulled up the catalog and it is "no longer available", what the HELL Wilson Combat... I Love my Wilson, but as their inventory has been pulled down, way down, they are discontinuing a LOT of stuff that I like... I want a fluted barrel with NO threads! in 300 HAM'R... dang it! -

A "Zara Spook"??? what you probably have a 21 foot Triton with a 250 Merc on the back to go along with it?? -
Amen! and Amen! "DON'T TOUCH IT" a voice from the past, the first thing I remember watching on Television, talking about blasting caps that kids might find laying around in the 50's?... but if these Gents can't help their good buds make a Gibbz run?? Don't buy yourself a headache, there are much better billet sets to spend your money on, really amazing billet sets... Dad gummit, the 50's and 60's sure where fun!

Thanks Shooter, and I am still leaning 300 HAM'R and the 18" Wilson Combat Light Hunter profile takes the "intermediate tube" which I have in stock as we speak. The Wilson kit for their billet is expensive, some out of stock?? The barrel nut is the biggie as far as questions, but I believe their WC-15 receivers are "mil-spec" an will interchange more readily than their large frame WC-10 Bill et receivers... One things for sure, I'm going to need a lot of help, and any suggestions are appreciated, my gun guy is in quarantine as we speak, so it may be next week or later, but I'm just happy to have one of these on the way. -
Welcome from Central Obamastan!

"HEAVY!" To be honest, I'm really not impressed with any of the heavy chassis rifles, my idea of a rifle is my little Husky 4100, beautiful, comes to the shoulder like a quail gun, accurate as hell, and gives you a good azz kicking in the process. It's damnably handy, and I like to carry it, Miss Wilson the same way, 308 of course. I'm in love the Tikka Lite Veil in 308 of course, LOL!

Damn Brother! I bought a Wilson Combat AR-15 Billet upper and lower receiver set today, you know I"ve been dithering with a 6.5 Creed upper build for my Tactical Hunter, but that damn thing shoots lights out! so why? and of late I was lusting for a Wilson Billet 300 HAM'R on Gun Broker, went to pull the trigger this morning, ( I am so fooking pissseeed OFF, with this foooking "regime change", that looks like the dick head's have won, liberal abortion pushing bottom dwelling, tax increasing scum!), and I needed a "mood elevator", I clicked on my watch list and NO HAM'R, dammmit! Well I found this little W-15 Billet upper and lower in FDE, now I've got to pay for it, and my gun guy has been sick, my other gunny has covid, but he said I could pick it up next week... So paid for, should ship tommorow, and maybe in a month or two arrive by mule train here in Central Obamastan: Suggestions please? I may still build that HAM'R, but you gents know I'm a real professional when it comes to dithering! I will be ordering a Wilson barrel, does that have to have the proprietary handguard and barrel nut??? -

Nice, could I borrow that the week after Christmas, I usually have a Holiday Slump in January, and I know just looking at that damn thing would make me smile everytime, I'll PM you my address, I'll send it home with a 20 dollar bill to say thanks! -
Heh!, Heh!, Heh!, thanks for letting us help you spend your brother's money, and since he's got a precision rifle, I'm gonna assume that only the best will do: So lets get started! Wilson Combat matched upper and lower in FDE, 14" Wilson TRIM handguard also in FDE, Paul Howe 16" fluted barrel in stainless Wilson Combat nickel boron BCG, charging handle, and 4lb single stage trigger, Wilson Combat extended bolt release, and their complete matched buffer and spring and the Roger's Super Stock.. He will love it, and it will shoot "lights out"! I shot Miss Wilson last night, and she is just gorgeous, she goes above and beyond to put me in a happy place! billy not a doubt in my mind he will sell that Ruger and build him another Wilson, NOT ONE DAMN DOUBT!
-
that really ought to be fun, I'm down to 3 44 Mags, and those mostly get 44 Special these days, LOL. I do have .40 Smith and Wesson M & P which I enjoy playing with, but I'm a lot my accurate with my 45 ACP Springers... the 460 is capable of some real fire power, a very cool round, and that little hog leg ought to keep you entertained!
-
What will you build your Rowland on Doc??
-
Yep, I may have to plan a trip to Kentucky to help you test those out in a Wilson Combat Tactical Hunter,,, I'd love to see what my rifle does with heavier bullets, I've been shooting 150's to get myself acclimated to the rifle, I do have some 120's and several more 168's
