  1. Pure envy. What a great time that had to be. Well done.
  2. Yowza!!! Now THAT'S a good fish!!!
  3. That intersection is just under 4 miles from the homestead.
  4. First snow in the Kansas City Area this morning. Temp in the upper 20's and just enough snow to cause the various municipalities that make up the area to send out their damn salt trucks. It'll be 50 next week, but they started laying down the corrosive like it was a blizzard. Typical
  5. Glad the S&W AR-10 I got is stamped for both .308 & 7.62 x 51. Takes the guesswork out of it for me! I bought this rifle a few years ago and still have not been out with it. Perils of ageing. Might go on the block soon. Y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year!!!
  6. FYI that screen shot in the opening post makes a dandy background for my laptop. ;)
  7. I think Tulsi ran as a democrat because in Hawaii, that's pretty much the only way to get elected to anything.
  8. Belated welcome from just across State Line Road. :)
  9. I'm so glad to see what I had thought to be a lost art now flourishing. I see various threads on a lot of forums about canning and preserving. It's a little late in the game for the wife and me, but I hope I can convince our kids / grandkids the value of learning these processes and procedures. My folks always "put up" [their expression for canning] a variety of vegetables, jams made from our berry bushes; anything that could be preserved. I REALLY wish that I'd paid more attention -- and participated. Another memory was my dad and a work friend making sauerkraut - starting with raw cabbage. Huge ceramic crocks filled with shredded cabbage and the secret ingredients provided by and supervised by dad's friend's German grandmother. Our house ended up with dozens of jars of the stuff. Years worth. My dad also got into wine making, using berries that we grew [some kind of cherry bush] and crates of grapes that the grocery store could not sell. He never drank a drop of it, but what he bottled became eagerly sought Christmas gifts among family. WELL DONE to all who pursue canning, preserving, bottling, etc. Teach everyone that'll listen.
  10. I've only put about 300 rounds through the Extar, but I've not experienced any jamming or other issues. I used several varieties of 9mm though it: plain old Winchester ball, Hornaday Critical Duty and Critical Defense. No problems. It's a well built gun; made here in the USA. :)
  11. For my initial HD, I went with a pistol like most people out of initial ignorance. but later augmented that with an Extar EP9. AR pistol with brace in 9mm. I paid the tax and got a QuietBore suppressor for it. I went with a rail mounted streamlight instead of a laser. Personal choice. Light, maneuverable, and it uses Glock magazines.
  12. Interesting. The only suppressed boomer I've seen was in the movie "No Country For Old Men".
  13. Most of my horror stories are similar but less impact. My daughter once mailed a package and paid for their "insurance". Naturally, her package never arrived. She inquired, and USPS told her that it was indeed delivered...but the address they gave was the wrong address. She filed a claim, and it was rejected by USPS because even though they delivered it to the wrong address, it was indeed delivered. Typical government BS. USPS should be near the top of the list of federal boondoggles to eliminate completely. What they do could be privatized and save billions. Perhaps we should have a separate thread for USPS "issues". Sorry for the hijack. I've got nothing on order right now, but after seeing that stars & stripes rifle.......
  14. Well, shucks. It's still a great rifle, though. I like the color scheme!!!
  15. 2005? Nothing to see here. :) While one less Chinese sub is always good, I am more concerned about their ongoing hypersonic anti ship missile development / deployment.
  16. Never any harm in telling the truth about the US Postal "Service". Typical government inefficiency, augmented by incompetence and indifference. Zero accountability.
  17. Outstanding. She reminds me of my fantasy range buddy:
  18. This is why I take inventory a couple times a year. I'd forgotten about this one; I'd stuck it in a radio bag a while back. It's going back on the belt. Colonel Blades NCO
  19. I used a trust for the first two cans I got, so I'm somewhat committed. What I can't get past for my recently bought .22LR is paying $450-600 for a suppressor for a $130 rifle. :) Maybe I should have invested in a decent pellet rifle that I could use on the squirrel infestation within city limits.
  20. We'd considered starting a couple of hives. There are great resources to help newbie beekeepers in both Kansas & Missouri, but our city is so extremely regulated...about most everything...that our place could not meed the setback requirements for even a single hive. This is a city where they can give you a citation for leaving your trash cans at the street too long, as well as a vehicle ticket for leaving a car on the street overnight. Not often enforced, but still on the books. Maybe that bee keeper that rescued the wild hive will bring back some honey for you!!
  21. The Tippmann's have jumped up a little in price. It looks like it's worth it. I've also been looking at the Mossberg 715T. Since ammo prices for .22LR have been really reasonable lately...at least compared to the Covid years....I've been stocking up. It finally occurred to me that I don't own anything in .22LR. Either the Tippmann or the Mossberg with a can on the barrel would be a fun way to rid my place of squirrels...at least for a while.
  22. On the way: A suppressor cover for the new Lahar-30 can from Rauch Precision. This will be the second purchase from them. 4 week lead time, but worth it.
  23. Yes! I’d like to get another unit but I sense that the door may slam shut again right after I pay for everything.
  24. Any update Magwa? Fingers crossed.
