Have you cleaned the BCG lately? Did the gun work ok for a while and then start this? Has it done this since the first time you tried to shoot the rifle? If the safety was in the SAFE position then the firing pin may be stuck. My DPMS LR-308 has not slam fired while I have had it. It was lightly used when I got it. It does NOT have a firing pin return spring in the BCG.

I had a load of Black Powder brass come out looking like Black Chrome plated once. Figured out that I did not clean the media good enough after cleaning real dirty brass. Just ran it through again with Dawn and Lime-shine. looked new again. What media are you using ? Stainless pins or ceramic pellets? I have tried both and I like the Stainless better myself. I deprime with a Lee universal deprimer first. Then tumble, size with Imperial Wax, then vibrate in corn cob and Lyman Turbo-Brite Polish. I have to check the flash holes in the brass because the steel pins may stick in them once in a while. Just use a small punch to clear the flash hole. I don't tumble my brass every time just when they start to look bad. I deprime and size then vibrate every time I reload them. I run large cases like 30-06 and 45-70 100 at a time because my Thumbler Tumbler only holds 1 gallon of water. I use distilled water because there is a lot of minerals in our local water. Cut down on the water spots. 😊😊😊 Steve

Looks more like a WW II Jap hand grenade or a WW I German Potato masher grenade. I could be wrong but I would not try to take it apart with a hammer.

Now what am I go to do for laughs and giggles this long cold winter? Sorry to see him go. I don't know how Matt let Shaffe48 go as long as he did. 😁 Steve -
Sorry to say. Your hooked now. I started with a 18 inch square table with a shelf on the bottom. I lived in a 2 room apartment. I now have a 8 foot work bench that has no extra space on it. Took 50 years to get to this. I still enjoy the time I spend reloading. I tried loading 9 mm but I kept pinching the F out of my fingers. 9 mm and 380 are just to short for me to reload. I can reload over 8 pistol and 8 or 9 rifle calibers. Gives me something to do in my retirement. Getting to old to get out and shoot much anymore. Sad. ☹️☹️☹️ Steve P,S, That is a good looking reloading bench.

that is more true than I want to admit. Like most news now the rest of the story almost made me throw up. Makes me think of politicians in general.

I remember that in basic at Fort Polk LA. 1968 Lucky I was in the Army Reserve and never got called up.

My Hornady Custom Grade Die Set is working great for my LR-308. I use a EGW ammo checker and the Hornady dies will pass with no trouble. The ammo checkers are a little expensive but they save a lot of worry about ammo chambering. The ones I have are 7 hole in 5.56 and 308. I check twice when working on new to me once fired LC brass. Once after sizing and then after seating and crimping the bullet. If it does not fit after I size the first time I run it back through the the die and it fits close enough to chamber almost every time. My 308 dies are not marked small base but they do the job. I have Redding body dies for 5.56 and 308 if I have trouble with resizing the once fired brass. I have to use the Redding body die on the 5.56 a lot more often than I do on the 308. I also use Imperial Sizeing Wax. I do not skimp on the lube. I have stuck 5.56 cases when I fail to lube them good. I have run into 2 or 3 308 cases that I could not get sized good enough to pass the ammo checker. I just trashed them after 2 or 3 tries to size them. YMMV JMHO 😀😀😀 Steve

Yes she is. Thanks for asking. 😊😊😊 -
Finally got around to installing the LaRue trigger. What a difference. Now ALL I have to do is get out and shoot the LR-308. Things just don't get done as fast as when I was in my 60's. Get to go out of town to watch my younger grandson play football Friday. Wife wants to make it a short camping trip to see the game. Just won't get in a hurry to get there or get home. 😁😁😁 Steve

Magwa With your permission I would like to Print Your statement on LIFE. I would like to hang it above my computer so I will remember to try to live by it everyday. Steve

You will be happy you did get the heavy version. I have one and love it. I still use a vibratory to take off the sizing lube and apply polish to my brass. The TT will take filthy brass and make them look like new. Steve

Just bought a Magpul bipod at Academy on sale for $99.99 + tax. They have gone up some in the last month. Steve

Grandson has a habit of leaping before he looks. It was an AR and he got it at a good price. I don't know when he figured out that it was not a 5.56. He may not have known that they can be other calibers. He will have to learn the hard way that he has to pay attention. Hope that it does not hurt to much to learn. He may get a good wake-up call the first time he shoots it. I have a 45/70 Marlin 1894 Guide gun with a factory ported barrel. If you do not hold on to it, it will jar your teeth.
-
A week after he bought the AR he looked on the Barrel and it is a 458 SOCOM. Hay Granddad what is a 458 SOCOM? He now thinks he wants to reload for it. I think he should try to make a deal to swap the upper for a 5.56. He has a limited income at this time. Options?

Where you save money reloading is to reuse your brass. It takes a little time to pick up, sort clean and check the brass every time you shoot. I like that I can try to tune my loads to my rifle. I am not as good at that as some of the guys here but I can tell the difference in my groups between my loads and cheap factory loads. It takes time to reload. If you start with the basics you will find out if you like it. Be careful. You may end up with a room full of reloading tools. It may grow on you just like rifles do. 🙂🙂🙂 Steve

I have read that the legs on the new light weight model have a lot of movement in them. just trying to look before I leap. I now have a spare trigger that I bought before I asked here. What model Magpul and which height ( 6 to 9 or 9 to 13) do you like. I have a cheep no name that tries to come apart every time I use it. It had a rubber washer between the mount and base that won't stay tight. It is also very heavy. 😏😏😏 Steve

I guess no body wants an EOtech now days. Offer withdrawn.

I tried to search and did not find much. Shooting from a a bench mostly. 6-9 in or 9-13 in? What medium price range bipod do you like? want a picatinny rail mount. Do not have a sling stud. trying to stay in Harris and below price range. I know I say that and then blow the budget at times. Thanks. Steve

I like my Hornady Custom Grade Die set. It so far has resized my once fired L.C. brass with one pass and chambers in my DPMS LR-308. Did not notice it saying small base on the box. I use a Lee Factory Crimp die as a final step. Will see how it works on brass fired through my LR-308 as soon as I get the new trigger installed and go to the range. 👍👍👍 Steve

No. They see the outcome and it is exactly what they want. They don't give a D** about anyone else. They just want to control everyone and everything anybody does or thinks. They are so much smarter than the run of the mill uneducated masses that they think it is there calling to GUIDE us to the light. 😡😡😡 Steve
