  1. Carbon fiber is a great heat sink as long as the proper fibers are used and its bonded to the surface correctly. That said it would be great if someone published data on the subject. Being a curious guy I would like to know the thermal properties, the temperature curve the barrel goes through and what really has me curious how much carbon fiber is enough to dissipate the heat properly? Does matching the barrels diameter just happen to give you what you need? Is more better? up to what point. I sure like the idea of these barrels of course Im drifting off topic here
  2. Cobra1/MechArmor good to go too <thumbsup>

  13. I am using some of the other Tubb upgrades. ;D
  14. The basic idea is with a free float nothing contacts the barrel. With standard handguards its possible to slighly influence the barrel because of pressure on the handguard whether from your hand, rest or sling. Given the choice between a free float handguard and a match trigger get the trigger. The improvement will be much more profound imho
  15. Are you certain the buffer and buffer spring are for 308?

  22. Yeah the GG&G's are my standard. The Bobro has a very clever QD system. Hopefully when on vcation Ill get some quality detailed images. Given the prices if the Bobro was readily available that would be my go to. Without that I the GG&G is the next best thing
  23. just cuz your not hearing it doesnt mean it's not hurting your ears ;D
  24. I wasnt aware of any Armalite magazine issues in recent years. Interesting. In my opinion the PMAGs were a life saver for DPMS folks for two reasons besides cost. DPMS had a run of out of spec magazines as well as some rough chambers and such. The PMAG's helped operators to determine which fault to hit up DPMS with for warranty work. Today the Armalite mags are often closely priced to DPMS factory magazines. The PMAGS are a steal. There was a time when magazines were tough to come by and I stated that the PMAGs were a game changer because they were available and they made the DPMS's rifles in many cases more reliable. I no longer feel that way. With the industry a little more stabilized DPMS seems to be turning out a more consistent product these days. Sadly with CProducts out of the picture we have lost a second source for quality magazine for DPMS platform. We have heard rumors from Magpul that they are looking for a way to handle AR-10 magazines too. Who knows if that will ever see the light of day.
