I can understand why someone who has been here since September 1st might feel that way, but those of us who have spent more than a decade diagnosing this platform and participating in this forum for that period have seen a great deal to the contrary of your opinion. Then there's my own experiences with the company and it's platform, which is consistent with it's reputation here. I bought one so I wouldn't have to conjecture about whether or not it would work off the shelf. That's been within a year of today's date. If you wanna make some guesses about how well that worked out, I can tell you firsthand that as a random recent sample of one, mine didn't work.

I moved all the threads marked by the "Grinch". I'll clear up the rest on my non-holiday time. -

It's now in General Discussion. -

Aero 308 build short cycling with slo mo video
Matt.Cross replied to Bjj51's topic in Building a .308AR
Put lube on everything, bolt carrier and receiver. Remember that the lube is going to move & flow during firing, you want some of it to be moving from free areas into contact areas. -

Sloppy wet with lube has been a tried and true recipe for getting these big mamas broken in, sounds like your experience is directly in line with that. -
That's right, and their bean counters aren't discerning about using the same kind of policies across all their child companies. Let's just hope that when they dissolve, all those child companies are robust enough to become their own entities again.
-
The good news is that when PSAs bean counters ultimately send PSA belly up, whoever buys PSA and DC by extension, will have a ready-made company that can generate a top-tier product immediately.
-
Truth be told, they'll be ruined by their bean counters. They aren't unaware of what it would take. The simple fact is, they're selling heavier buffers and better springs in sufficient volume to make money after they've sold a defective product. As long as they're making money off both the problem and the fix, the bean counters will leave the spec in place. DC Machine knows what it takes to fix the platform. PSA owns and specifies the platform. PSAs decisions aren't based on the fact that they don't know, nor are the manufacturers decisions based on the fact that they don't know. DC Machine sells parts to PSA whether or no not PSA has them well specified, and therein is the issue. The blame lies completely with PSA in my book, they know the issue and how to fix the spec and have done neither based on the almighty dollar. DC Machine can't be blamed for supplying their primary customer with precisely what they're asking for, that's what any respectable machine shop would do.
-
Did I mention I took a personal tour of DC Machine here a few weeks ago, and spoke to the main armorer/tooling manager? I must've forgotten... Yup, I sure did. I might've mentioned my experience as a Tool & Die Maker, and that I knew the magical gas port size for making this platform run. Might have. We may never know.

Me too buddy, me too....

Gotta call Damien now and make amends....

🤣 I'll be here all week, don't forget to tip your waiter/waitress...

Yes sir. Goes back to the old adage, "I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you."

Next step is details about your recoil buffer system. Spring manufacturer and specs, internal depth of your buffer tube, size and weight of your recoil buffer. See this thread:

Soft-point ammo has been known for quite some time to have some issues in this platform. I'm not saying that's the source of your issue, but it's an observation based on the picture. Polymer-tipped ammo will work better if you need an application for taking game.

There's no prejudice here, only experience. I can appreciate your desire to have what you want and your ability to defend that desire much as a 3 year old might when they spot something that they can't leave the supermarket without. However, I will be the grownup and opt to shut you up instead. Your posting privileges will be revoked, but you can otherwise benefit from what information the forum can still give you. You're welcome. You mentioned it in your original post, I made a poorly informed assumption that the information you gave was consistent with your intent. My bad. The answer to your question of if the trigger is bad enough to prevent you from learning the basics is as follows: No, the trigger is not what's going to hold you back. What's going to hold you back is your inability to listen to people who are in a position to help you learn anything. Consider your question answered. You strike me as extremely enlightened, maybe one of these days somebody will do us the favor of reversing the decision to mute you, and then we can all be enlightened. What passes for logic in your mind is downright comedic. You asked for feedback, you got it, then you cried about it. What you need is a lobotomy to replace whatever is in your brain space with a rock, that'd be a favor for you, as a rock possesses more natural and inherent intelligence than you do. That's what's quite interesting about your build, it's the first of it's kind. You're literally the first person who ever showed up to forum wanting to build a gun that served no meaningful purpose. Even the most extraordinarily foolish kind of build that was ever proposed on this forum up until the point you arrived, still made more sense and had a clearly defined set of attributes and intended purpose, and that's saying a lot. Congratulations, you're the first person to ever make me miss that guy. I'll take it under advisement and ignore it as such. Thanks. Good luck with that!

It's a natural progression. We've nationally witnessed the increasing militarization of police forces, adding F-15s and nukes to the precinct near you is to be expected. *end sarcasm* I submit that the following should be required viewing under duress for every moron that has ever made the argument that .gov is better armed than the general populace.

Yo my man, you will soon find that some people (not gonna say any names here) that raise a fuss about posting in ancient threads, are also prime suspects every time a perfectly good thread gets derailed off into some kind of nonsensical ADHD shiny-object blather.... To quote our dear founder, "Don't sweat the petty stuff, pet the sweaty stuff!". Welcome to the forum, enjoy yourself here!

Dear Diary, December 18th, 2021 @ 12:58am, I got the upper hand on Tom, and now that my life goal has been accomplished, I feel aimless and lost, completely unsure of what to do with my life now....

@SubGrub allow me to make an attempt to help you out here a little bit; This forum has been around for a little while now, and in that time we've all seen our fair share of newcomers to the platform who show up wanting to build a large-frame AR platform that's perfect for everything from room clearing, to 3-gun, to precision long-range shooting, and they want all of that to come in under 6 lbs as well. Well, it's never happened yet. That's because these platforms will excel at a specific purpose if you build it for a specific purpose, but you need to figure out what your biggest priority is for this build. When you state that precision shooting will be an expected function of this build, your binary trigger becomes an immediate reject, here's why: A binary trigger is most useful for a high rate of fire, everything that will suffer due to a high rate of fire (namely accuracy and therefore effectiveness) goes right out the window with all the dynamics of a high firing rate. Will it dump out expensive ammo really quickly? Yes, but otherwise it will be very unimpressive. Will it dump out cheap ammo really quickly? Yes, but it will be otherwise unimpressive, unless you're interested in communicating how much more money you have than sense to onlookers. You haven't clearly communicated any real priorities for what this build needs to accomplish, usually folks can at least articulate that they're looking to do one of the following as their goal: minimize weight (it's a large-frame AR,duh), maximize speed (it's a large AR, everything is bigger, heavier, slower), maximize accuracy, maximize effectiveness in terms of terminal ballistics, mock up smaller AR roles and platforms in the larger AR (DMR), hunting, plinking, wasting ammo as fast as possible, etc etc. Right now the only thing we know with any certainty is which trigger you want, but that tells us nothing definitive about what you want the rifle to do effectively.

That's 'cause you're so nasty that even infectious organisms know that you're a hostile environment... 🤣
