Sorry to hear about your buddy, Ray, hope you find a suitable replacement soon.

The nature of the problem is the soft points, not the feed ramps. The short answer is to avoid soft points.

Had my math completely wrong, I edited and bolded the corrections. Good eye.

It's less than ten minutes work, and he's already out the initial cost + shipping charges. Besides, does me good to see someones rifle step up to it's potential.

Let's unscramble this and get you going; you don't need the extension, just forget it. You do need the short vented screw that Robocop posted. Go ahead and get you one of those. Next is your buffer, it's fully .250" too long, and needs to undergo the following changes: #1. Drive the roll pin out. #2. Remove the rear plug and bag it along with the guts of the buffer, they will dump right out. #3. Cut 1/4" off the rear of the buffer tube as cleanly as you possibly can, removing any burrs that result from doing so. #4. Measure the distance between the shoulder on the rear plug and the through-hole for the roll pin. #5. Use that measurement to re-drill the roll-pin hole in the buffer body. Roll pins are standard imperial sizes so simply use the appropriate drill bit, mine was 1/16". #6. Re-assemble the buffer minus the aluminum spacer that is rearmost in the buffer assembly. It's unnecessary and won't allow you to reassemble the buffer unless you cut it by half an inch as well. That's it! If you're not comfortable doing this, you can ship it to me and I'll fix it free of charge.

This is almost exactly the same issue I had some time ago, only I had a proper vented screw for the buttstock. It's easy enough to fix, Luth will probably provide the correct screw at no charge if you call or email them.

Your buffer is too long (specifically ~1/2" too long), you need to to cut it and re-drill it for the roll pin.

I have this mental picture of Mike atop the 500, looking down at his shin bone, which is protruding from the top of his right knee while his rubbery calf and foot flop about useless. Ron takes a sip of his MGD and says "Walk it off ya pu$$y!" to uproarious laughter from the rest of the group. Mike isn't concerned about his right leg though, he's trying to figure out how to get his left leg across the bike for a 2nd attempt at the kickstarter... GREG launches a flying tackle and sweeps Mike off the bike with one arm, preserving his vice-like grip on the beer held in the other hand. The scene ends with Tom securing a patched-up splinted Mike to a spine board with a series of pink straps and ribbons, propping him up against the shady side of the camper where he can observe the action for the rest of the weekend.

It'll have a motor and a steering wheel before the fall shoot.....

I'll get there a couple days early and we'll knock off some vagrant in downtown Phoenix and take his shopping cart. Teach him a real lesson in being resourceful.....

Put some terrain-appropriate knobbies on that sucker!

Does anyone besides KAC make a correct M110 barrel??
Matt.Cross replied to jdkno's topic in .308AR Parts
If you can find the specs for the sr-25, from what I understand the sr-25 and the m110 share nearly identical barrel specifications. -

The original M110 Barrel is an Obermeyer, they might have what you're looking for... -
It's fairly straightforward, sans discontinued chassis, but you could easily build the equivalent. Chassis: Mega MA TEN Megalithic http://www.megaarms.com/maten/receiver-sets/billet-upper-lower-sets/mts-4440-sa/ Recoil System: Armalite AR-10 https://www.armalite.com/product/ar-10-rifle-length-receiver-extension-kit-no-stock-ar10rekit02/ I use a Chrome Silicone flat wound spring, but the Armalite complete unit is every bit as good. Magpul PRS Stock: http://www.primaryarms.com/MAG672-BLK LAW Tactical Folding Adapter: http://www.primaryarms.com/law-tactical-ar-folding-stock-adapter-gen-3-m-ltgen3m Young Manufacturing 308 BCG: (My current NiB BCG isn't made anymore) https://youngmanufacturing.net/product/308-national-match-carrier-complete-w-forward-assist-chrome-only/ Armalite AR-10 LPK: https://www.armalite.com/product/a10lrpk-ar10-a-series-lower-parts-kit/ CAA UPG 16 Grip: https://usa.caagearup.com/upg16-interchangeable-ar15-m16-pistol-grip ATC SR Gold Trigger: https://americantrigger.com/shop/ar-platform-triggers/ar-gold-trigger/ (Be sure you specify the .308 version) Fulton Armory Mid-weight 18.5" Barrel w/ Rifle-length gas system: http://www.fulton-armory.com/barrelfatitan185nmmedss1x10936gasblock.aspx (Threaded stainless version) SLR Sentry 9 Adjustable Gas Block (and tube): http://slrrifleworks.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=57_103_105&product_id=126 The OPS Inc 12th .30 model is no longer in production, but this is the equivalent... Allen Engineering AE30 Suppressor & AEMB Brake: http://aesuppressors.com/suppressors/AE30.html http://aesuppressors.com/mounts/ (AEMB) GG&G LCB-3 Bipod: https://www.gggaz.com/lcb-3-heavy-duty-tactical-bipod.html I'd forego the fixed bipod though, and get a similar one with swivel capacity. https://www.gggaz.com/heavy-duty-xds-swivel-bipod.html And there you have it, the closest approximation of my build I can give you. Oh, optics info, I nearly forgot! 1908 was the year JMB created the version that won the military contracts, so he's rocking at least 110 years.... -
The 168 FGMM is also excellent, but from 500 yards out the 175gr is far easier to shoot with reticle holdovers. And that dope chart was scary accurate, it was generated based on the elevation of the reservation and the expected weather conditions.

Cool! Sorry for the thread clutter, just looking for clarification. Thank you!
-
Also, just for clarity's sake, this is for a standard AR correct?
-
Yeah, I'd say that's pretty accurate...
