  1. Ya know, normal people would probably wonder why you're concerned with how bright the reticle is at night....
  2. I was expecting the wind to pick up or change direction. It seemed important at the time to get there before that happened.
  3. I feel ya brother. I got caught up in the moment with the 'it will look so cool on video' line of non-thinking.
  4. Welcome!
  5. So, is it a Savage or an Armalite? If it's made by Savage, the AR10 designation is incorrect. It's a very common mistake, but it becomes a costly mistake when it's time to buy aftermarket parts for a particular platform. Knowing the difference can (and hopefully does) save you a good deal of irritation and wasted time/money. Believe me, this place is going to cause you to need every cent you can possibly spare. Finally and foremost, welcome to the forums. Make yourself at home here!
  6. Exactly. Stop reducing the difficulty of the challenge!
  7. LMAO...... You guys..... SMH
  8. So, if the contestants avoid using condiments to make the canned chicken more edible, they stand a better chance of winning crap that you know you should've thrown away already? I may have to take the challenge myself....
  9. Tacticat cannot be holstered. He barely accepts being carried at low ready....
  10. This thread has promise! *Pulls up chair and cracks open an ice cold Coke*
  11. Awesome, I LOVE putting out fires in the desert!
  12. I'm LMAO over here... Ya'll some cranky 'ol bastards! "Gawdamnit! Back in my day we didn't have all this uppitty fancy modern to-do and get-up on our match-locks! You had to light the dang fuse and keep your sights on target until the gun went off when it darn well pleased. Why, I remember when 'ol Bobby Hager got tard of trying to hold steady and when he rested the buttstock on his upper thigh to take a breather, why that ol' firestick belched thunder & lightnin' and castrated him clean as a whistle! Yes sir, why back in the day...."
  13. You're too late brother, Tom has already enabled his incoherent babbling.... Just wait it out, they'll both end up having to solve some issue with an aftermarket solution, and that's when we'll crush them to bits.
  14. Yeah, I said crap like that back before I could afford good components too.
  15. You can still do ranging at other powers, but the subtension of the reticle is changing. So my PST is MOA subtensions at 24x for measuring and ranging, so at 18x each subtension is 1.25 MOA, 2 MOA at 12x, and 4 MOA at 6x. Should be the same for your MIL reticle, if your subtensions are 1:1 at 18x, they will be 2:1 at 9x, and 3:1 at 6x. So all you really need to keep in mind is how much subtension you're measuring at whatever power you're using and then use the same formula you've always used. IE, if you're using 9x and the target measures 3 MIL by the reticle, it's 6 MIL actual measurement, if you're using 6x, it's a 9 MIL target (by the reticle). The long and short is that the ranging calculation won't change at all, but the target measurement method will. Fortunately, the math for that is really easy.
  16. You can use a Forward Assist with a non-serrated bolt carrier, no problem. It's quite simply not needed as often because there's much more mass to this type of AR, and failure of the bolt to return to battery is worthy of investigation rather than forcing chambering.
  17. Hammers and thumbs don't mix.... You wanna keep that sucker from being damaged, ya gotta put it in a safe place until the danger passes.
  18. It gets found in Chapter Four....
  19. Welcome to the forums! We're glad to have you here.
  20. I'd shot HSM before and not had any issues, but this particular crap was literally coming apart in the gun, leaving blown primers in my magazines, fire control group, and locking lug area. No is bueno compadre.
  21. That's true, and to be fair, any picture of Larry could be an old picture. The dude cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony for dirt...
  22. IT'S LARRY!!!!
  23. It's a great case, I had wanted the Pelican 1770 case but due to an error I ended up with the 1740 case instead. I have to say I am not disappointed at all with it, it's tough as all get out. You can get specs and dimensions and more info here: http://www.pelican.com/us/en/pro/product/watertight-protector-hard-cases/large-case/long-case/1740/
  24. Chapter Three I leave the Delta service desk and head downstairs to the Delta Baggage Claim Office to collect my hard case, wondering if I can hop a ride with another airline and what it will cost to check an oversize overweight hard case onto an airline that is an unknown quantity. I arrive at the Delta Baggage Office and meet the nicest yankee lady I've ever encountered in my life. I told her my situation and asked if my case had arrived at the baggage office. "Just a moment please, sir." She delves into her computer, typing furiously and clicking the mouse intermittently. After a moment she looks up briefly and says, "It shows that it was transferred off of the arriving flight, but I don't see it's physical location listed. Let me go check on it in the back area, I'll be back shortly." True to her word, she reappeared after a brief interval shaking her head. "Sir, if you'll bear with me, I'll locate your bags ASAP, and in the meantime I recommend checking the baggage claim belt just in case there's been some mistake." Crap! Firearms are ALWAYS collected at the airline baggage office, and now it's possible my hard case with irreplaceable firearms are circulating on a belt where Joe Schmoe can develop an interest in them??!! I head towards the baggage belt feeling my pulse beginning to increase in the bulging vein in my neck. If I find my bag on the belt, there's gonna be trouble. I wait ~30 minutes at the belt for my hard case, checking intermittently with the nearby Delta Oversize Baggage office. After all the bags from my flight had been pulled off the belt, my hard case is still a no-show. Now I'm contemplating the possibility that some ramp monkey has gotten sticky fingers with my case, as if enough of the trip so far hadn't gone wrong. I stopped putting the brakes on the getting pissed off and decided that at this point blind rage isn't unjustified. Somebody had better start coming through for me or I'm going to stage a Canadian Protest!!!!
