On my .308's all I need is a rail up top for an optic and a spot on the bottom for a bi-pod. On my short-work AR-15's I use some flashlights, lasers, etc. I even have a tac-cam video camera that I can mount on the side rail. On the big boys, I don't need rails on the foreends.

Dang, missed that criteria. Well then, move to .45 and you can get the Kimber Ten II - I have one and love it for a high-cap 1911.

So is the issue also with mating a non-matching upper to the lower. There must be millions of 6.8 uppers that have been put on 5.56 lowers. And think of the millions of .22lr conversions. <dontknow> -

Yeah, this is a national issue, for sure. The BATFE is a runaway train wreck, they need to be leashed in a big way. But I fear it will not happen, there are far too many people who buy into the notion that groups like them are protecting us and as long as those groups can play on that sheep philosophy, they will. -

Obviously there is differing methods, and I think as with almost everything, it comes down to familiarity and training. I keep the 1300 in a spot where I know it is and keep it positioned in a way that enables me to quickly handle it, I've drilled on bringing it to bear and getting it to condition one. Train, people. That's your best bet.
