  1. The .308 choice is great, and the ASA choice is great.... but they don't come together. The ASA is for small calibers only (5.56, 5.45, 6.8, 7.62x39, 300Blk...) The only side charging .308AR's (off the of my head) are the LWRCi REPR and the FA Titan... OR any custom work you get done... I'm pretty sure both of those options are reciprocating. If you want a .30 Cal ASA build, check out the 7.62x40 Wilson, the 7.62x35 (300Blk/300Whisper) and the infamous 7.62x39 Russian.
  2. Lookin good. What's the next step?
  3. I can't figure out how to see the ranking
  4. I should have wrote more... I don't remember what this was about. Too bad Kaiser isn't around anymore. They had a promising design.
  5. That's an experienced Grandpa. That explains it much better.
  6. Hemi is getting close to Grandpa status. It's natural. The best saying I ever heard about kids was, "Grandchildren are your reward for not killing your own kids."
  7. The TAR-21 is especially nice for the quick swap caliber. Go from 5.56x45 to 5.45x39 to 7.62x39 to ??? Lots of gun for one system. As for the 5.7x28, there's rumor of a blow back version coming out that uses special magazines. If that's the case, I'll likely grab the kit for a lightweight pistol... especially if it fits a standard lower. The only initial downside I see is that CMMG is heading the project.
  8. Merry Christmas.... completely derailed
  9. Ugh! Owning an RRA is like being left handed. Great if you're a pitcher or a boxer... The rest of your life sucks.
  10. If you are just looking for a "fun gun". That's about what it's good for. Personally, I would suggest the AR57 over the P90. All the fun, on a better format firearm. When you're tired of it, you have a larger audience to sell it to. My CoP wanted me to order one for the Dept. I talked him out of it due to the ballistics.
  11. I hate sounding like a broken record.... There's a video of Travis Haley shooting an 8" suppressed 300Blk, using just an Aimpoint T1, hitting a target at 700+ yards. A simple rule of thumb I use is 2x for every 100 yards.
  12. This is a 16" carbine barrel launching a .308... I think we might be going the wrong direction with the gas. It's entirely possible that you have too much gas. Your bolt carrier can be traveling so fast that the next round in the magazine isn't making it up fast enough to go into battery. This can also be the reason that you aren't locking back every time. The BCG is just too fast for the other "standard" parts. Remember, there is no real "standard" for the .308 AR rifle. Most of us tinker with parts until we get that "sweet spot". Some get lucky with off the shelf stuff.... Some of us spend the $$$. I'm willing to bet that you could go one of a few routes, depending on your ability and budget; Get an adjustable gas block and dial in the gas a bit. Install a heavy buffer from www.HeavyBuffers.com Don't forget the AR10 buffer as well. Take a look at the Tubbs Carrier Weight System (CWS). Be forewarned, they don't fit in every BCG. This is a cheap trade off, and not quite as good as the above options.
  13. Back then, Santa was still a brunette... It ends at the end of the month, and then restarts a new contest for the following month.
  14. The way I heard it, several dozen applied for the position. All but one died or went missing, in suspicious circumstances. By any means necessary... Right Tom.
  15. WET WET WET WET WET WET.... Did I mention WET!!!! Those new parts are really heavy and gritty. You need to eliminate ALL the friction until the parts are worn in together. Even with off the shelf parts.
  16. I should also mention, I have first hand experience. My entire upper receiver is coated. To test it, I ran the rifle dry (absolutely ZERO oil) for 15 months, never cleaning the rifle. My rifle fire flawless. I only cleaned it at the end because I was getting embarrassed by how dirty it looked. All the NiB parts cleaned to like-new condition using "FireCLean".
  17. Lol. NiB coating is harder than a standard coating this prevents wear and damage to the part treated. It does provide a low friction surface. This feature is really only a benefit if you have several NiB parts working in concert. The surface works similar to a tephlon
  18. This picture didn't make it to the contest.
  19. Turnbull.... best damn work EVER.
  20. Not as cool as getting 308... but I got vote # 338!
  21. That is badass!!
  22. MM55, You can mail that P.O.S. pmag over to me. I'll dispose of it for you.
  23. There's a large group of Sacto guys here. Myself included (albeit, I'm a north bay import). If you're married, I want to apologize now for the financial stress we're about to put on your marriage.
  24. I went to that's guys house. He's a pretty decent guy. His prices fluctuate with the market. If you catch him at "low tide", you can score a pretty decent deal.
  25. That is so sick! Not me. I'm just going to get Ron to adopt me.
