  2. Welcome to our den of addicts and enablers. We'll push, prod and provoke you until you customize that second AP4! <thumbsup> Now before I forget... :pics-stfu: <laughs> :sign10: <lmao>
  3. Figure out which suppressor you will want in the future. You don't want to have to buy that part twice.
  4. I passed on the last bulk order. I wasn't too interested in the 154gr plinking ammo. I really would have liked something in the 125ish weight. A friend of mine loaded up some Hornady 208gr A-Max subsonic rounds for his .300 Whisper, then sold his rifle. I graciously took them off his hands. I'm interested to see how they perform in my 14.5" Blackout.
  5. Read about it HERE Mega Arms halts sale of monolithic uppers In a move that may signal the first of more possible announcements by companies manufacturing AR platforms, Mega Arms has decided to stop the manufacture and sale of their line of AR15 and MATEN MTS monolithic upper receivers. In an announcement to their dealers earlier this week, Mega explains one of their competitors has obtained a patent that grants them ownership of the monolithic rail platform. Mega states they do not want to put the resources into the expense of ongoing litigation and instead will work to bring a new platform to market that will exceed the performance of existing receivers The company became aware of possible US patent infringement issues earlier this spring and spent a couple months conferring with their legal counsel and trying to get in contact with the patent holder. I spoke with Jason Curns, manager of Mega Arms, who said they had explored other options before taking this step. “We reached out to the patent holder to discuss a licensing deal and we never heard back,” Curns said. GearScout has learned that the patent holder is Karl Lewis, of Lewis Machine and Tool, who shares the patent with co-inventors James Bargren, Jacob Schafer and Neal Hohl. The patent application was filed in 2003 and granted full, non-provisional, patent status in May, 2012. It remains to be seen how other manufacturers will deal with the surfacing of this patent. The patent could be like a bomb going off in the offices of Colt, POF, VLTOR and other manufacturers using an upper receiver with a continuous rail and integral handguard.
  6. I just got this email too... Looks like no NiB Mono upper for me either. DAMN IT :rant2:
  7. :rant2: Bad fr3d! Put yourself on time out! :banned: No one gets to talk like that in here. Blasphemer!
  8. Black male's wearing black hoodies... They are obviously being stereotyped due to their clothing. Suddenly those Treyvon Martin targets don't look so silly.
  9. She caught Jar-Jar Binks!?! The great and mighty Darth Vader couldn't kill one untrained boy Jedi, but that retarded Rastafari amphibian was able to destroy an entire movie franchise. When the zombie apocolypse comes, I hope JJ Abrams comes back to eat George Lucas.
  10. Ok, you twist my arm. I'll shoot this one too.
  11. Looky, looky HERE You know you want it. I barely understand what it is, and I want it <dontknow>
  12. put this gun on the 'must shoot' list <thumbsup>
  13. I take this back. It looks like Troy does NOT make the Alpha rail for the 308 yet. Too bad, it's a damn good rail.
  14. Brownells.com, MidwayUSA.com and RainierArms.com are always a good start <thumbsup>
  15. I have to admit, I bought the chopped mag because no one else had one. I just wanted to be first.
  16. Hope this helps a bit. Remember, in the end this is your rifle, not mine. You are fully authorized to tell me to kiss off, and build it however you want. All the parts you picked are nice/good quality parts. I just shared my opinion to expand your options.
  17. Adjusting gas should only be required if you're running a suppressor. The 18.5" with rifle gas is absolutely fine. FA used to make a 16" rifle length. My 17" has a rifle length. As long as the gas hole is wide enough, it'll cycle. I guess the short answer you were looking for is "yes, it is over gassed" <lmao>
  18. You will be LEAGUES more satisfied with a "match" or better barrel. The "Select" barrels are ok for plinking and light hunting, but if you're expecting to any long distance accuracy you're going to be more satisfied with the match. They make an "ultra match", but the cost is only justified if you are taking advantage of the quality. I had the 14.5" select barrel. I replaced it with a 14.5" match barrel. Absolutely no regrets. I don't know who makes the select barrels. I'm pretty sure the match barrels come from Wilson barrels and the ultra match barrels come from White Oak Armament Barrels
  19. My wife and my wallet would like to say "Damn you Tom". <laughs> Looks like a new order is coming.
  20. NEMO Arms has a similar rifle on the cover of their catalog. Personally, I like it! I think I would like more wood (rifle length) as an option. I would have kept the A2 front sight. I like the modernization of the old frontier style. I think it's classy and original.
  21. Is it mil or commercial
  22. I fight myself daily on whether or not to buy this sight for my 14.5" 5.56. You like them? What do you know about the Primary Weapons clone??
  23. Technically only the barrel extension and the and the bolt need to match... That is not the best plan of action though. I have to 110% recommend that once you pick a format (Armalite vs DPMS/KAC), stick to that format for the remainder of the build. Keep checking Rainier Arms. Get on their mailing list, so they'll email you when it comes in. If you get impatient, try places like Calguns.net and SnipersHide.com for a used one. I see them on there all the time.
  24. With a screen name that insinuates you are a BIG guy, possibly of Africana decent. I surely hope you have thick skin and a great sense of humor. Otherwise I'd hate to suffer the consequences. <lmao> *for those that don't know, Makulu means "Big" in Zulu. Welcome to our den of misfits and miscreants, addicts and enablers. We aim to please hit!
