  1. It has stainless extractor so I can devour steel ammo. I put a revised parts list in the O.P.
  2. This is amazingly lightweight rifle. The first word out of my wife's mouth was wow. The RRA stock is very comfortable, and balances very well. If youre used to the A2 stock this will fit like an old pair of jeans. The 16" fluted barrel swings surprisingly fast. I have no problem pointing one handed. I'm still shocked how thin the Troy/VTAC rail is. After handling it for a bit, I think another AFG1 is in my near future. Still waiting on mags and MBUS to arrive. I ordered some "rebuild kits" online. Even though I'm allowed to buy mags from the store, I have issues ordering online. Since this build is ultimately going to my cousin, I'm going to make some 10/30 mags with a rivet gun.
  3. All done!!
  4. Honestly, I think you should look at other full stock options instead of the collapsible stocks. Wouldn't a compact stock defeat the purpose of your rifle? The RRA A2 Operator stock and the VLTOR A2 ModStock both will fit your current hardware, and only cost about $100-$150. They come with cheek rest storage areas on both sides, and they still line up like a standard stock. I think it'd be nice to see an aluminum or steel dowel lathed out to insert inside the storage area for the extra weight in the rear. Just my $0.02, it usually ain't worth much more than that.
  5. I can understand why you wouldn't want a close ended muzzle device, but shouldn't an open ended device (like the Vortex) be ok? I guess it's one of those "why risk it?" situations...
  6. Edge has a 20" OBR, I volunteer him to buy this ammo and then find a 1,000 yard range to test it out for all of us <thumbsup>
  7. On the contrary. The 1:10 twist should be better. They suggest a minimum 1:13 for the 175gr bullet. Normally the higher grain bullets appreciate the tighter twists. I think they are warning the long range guys with 1:14 twist barrels to shy away. There are some purists that shoot the 135gr bullets with a 1:14 barrel. These are mostly bolt rifle guys. A 175gr bullet is not always used for 1000 yard shots due to the lack of muzzle velocity... This bullet appears to be contradictory to that school of thought.
  8. Anyobe shot sabot's out of an auto rifle yet? I'm very interested in flinging a 70gr bullet 4k fps. Just wondering about others experiences and the availability.
  9. This is direct from Berger's website:
  10. Short answer... Yes. Also take a look at the RRA Operator A2 stock.
  11. I'm going to call Loki in the morning. The price is right and the time frame is more than decent!
  12. Is this a LE sponsored course, or something you are putting yourself through? I have LE purchasing contacts, but they only sell to departments directly. GREAT cheap prices, but no individual sales. Only Municiple/State/Fed Department sales allowed. It's a government contract thing. Mostly Federal and Winchester ammo. Everything from .380 to .308... This is all I shoot any more since I get so much of it. I have a few thousand rounds of various calibers due to the prices. Mostly handgun stuff for me though. PM me if you fall into this category.
  13. Three months!! I ordered this barrel THIRTEEN MONTHS AGO!!!!
  14. Wilson Combat barrel is a bust... Just got off the phone with customer service. The order I put in 2 MONTHS AGO still isn't ready, and they have no prediction on when it will be. ugh! :P
  15. Just got off the phone with Jense Precision / Xtreme Precision Armament / Proof Research (how many names does one company need?) with an update on my ABS carbon fiber wrapped barrel... Barrel wrapped, rough finish complete, ready for final finish and fitting. 4-6 weeks out still.... :'(
  16. OK guys. I ordered a barrel from Wilson Combat on 03/20/0212 with a ship date of 03/30/2012. On the afternoon of 03/30 they emailed me saying the shipment had been delayed indefinitely. I called just now to check in, mind you 2 months later, and they still have no clue when new barrels are coming in. Possibly in another month, they say, maybe more... Needless to say, my order has officially hit the pooper! I'm asking all those sets of beady eyes out there to help keep watch for ANYONE selling a 300 Blackout Barrel, preferably of the 14.5" variety. I was really trying to shy away from the outrageously overpriced AAC and Noveske barrels, and now those are gone too! Thanks in advance for the help.
  17. That's the big suck! Sorry partner. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Did they give a time frame or alternate avenues?
  18. It's true. Most people attribute earthquakes to Cali, but in reality we only have good earthquakes every 5 or 6 years. On the other hand, we burn 1,000's of acres every year in forest fires. Southern Cali evacuates almost every year.
  19. Nothing makes me feel more welcome than a pink neon sign hangin in a window that says "GIRLS"
  20. Apex will ceracote if you call them. I didn't find that out till after I bought mine.
  21. What's to burn? Sand? Rocks? One or two cactus? Seriously though, I know how dangerous those fires can be. California burns down every summer. Y'all be safe.
  22. You want a high cap, low caliber, pistol.... FN 5.7 with mag extensions! 30 rounds of high velocity death!
  23. Drew likes riding the public transit, playing "guess my religion" with the other passengers... disgusting!
  24. Have you ever tried stacking a rimmed cartridge? If there was such a thing as a .22auto (not to be confused with the failed .22 Win Auto), you would see astronomical magazine capacities. As far as the rimmed case goes, you are very limited in the The Ruger rotary magazine is the only mag I have used flawlessly, and they top out at 10 rounds. I have some 10/22 mags that are well over 20 years old, and they cycle like they were just purchased yesterday. I have tried the 25 round banana and 50 round drum, and suffered failures in both. I hear that the Kel-Tec P30 chambered in .22WMR can hold 30 rounds... I also hear that IF you can manage to squeeze that many rounds in, the magazine walls bow out so much you can't fit the mag inside the pistol. To my knowledge, there has only been one ultra high capacity .22lr handgun that worked... That's the Calico M-110 Pistol
  25. You can find similar products on MidwayUSA ( 1 and 2 ) or Brownells ( 1 and 2 ), but your ingenuity was a lot less expensive. Nice work <thumbsup>
