  1. It's weighing about 8.5 lbs... But it could've been lighter. Oh well, next build! <thumbsup>
  2. Matt, what version is that? I have the 308 full size version.
  3. :'( I still haven't shot it yet... :'(
  4. Unless you plan on running the LMOS in your prototype too, I wouldn't bother with this newer designed buffer. JP stuff is designed to work with JP stuff first. If it works with other makers, that is just a bonus for them. If you want something different than the Enidine, you can also try the MGI Rate Reducing Buffer. Although i think the Enidine is a win.
  5. I have been working on and off again on a AR15 rifle for some time now. This was my first build up from parts, and my first piston system. This is what I have installed. * Mega Arms Billet Ambidextrous AR15 Upper and Lower * CMC Flat Tactical Trigger * Rainier Arms Match .223 Wild (1:8") 14.5" Mid length Stainless Steel Barrel * Battlecomp v1.5 (of course) * BAD, Inc. BADASS Short Throw w/ crank and short levers * Adams Arms Mid Length Piston Kit * Troy BattleAxe Pistol Grip * Magpul ACS Stock w/ Lrg Buttpad and swivel attachment * Tubb CS Flat Spring * Carrier Weight System * Daniel Defense FSPM Ext. Mid Length Freefloat Lite-Rail * Troy Micro Di-Optic Tritium Battle Sights Sorry in advance for the poor quality pics. I had some small issues mating parts that weren't designed to go together. The Daniel Defense FSPM rail and the Adams Arms kit were incompatible at first. Some small manipulation was required to "influence" them to work nicely together. You can see below where I had to fit the the two pieces together.
  6. Where have you been all my life? How is it that you evaded discovery for over 50 years? I just installed two BADASS "Crank" levers. One in my .308 and one in my AR15... Oh they look and feel soooo nice.
  7. When is your wife going to start feeding you? Let me know when your XL friends are selling their gear.
  8. If you're on a budget, I suggest Troy or PWS. My personal favorite is the Battlecomp BABC, but they're expensive. I don't know how good they'll be, but Daniel Defense is coming out with a new line of muzzle devices. They're offering 3 new options for the .308. I haven't seen any reviews yet, but DD isn't known for putting out garbage either.
  9. Yes, but not just any muzzle device will fit. Make sure you look to see that the device is labeled as a 7.62 or .308 muzzle device. A .223/5.56 device will not fit and if you try to force it, you could cross thread your barrel.
  10. I saw it! What? Why don't you believe me?
  11. I'm never showing those pictures to my wife. It will destroy my excuse of, "A man cave is supposed to be messy."
  12. I already told the wife we're going. Maybe pack up the trailer and do the long drive for a few weeks. She wants to see the Grand Canyon again. She'll follow me anywhere, as long as there's a Starbucks.
  13. Yup. Common enough that someone invented this... Accu Wedge
  14. :wwop: You got 'em, and we want 'em.
  15. I've looked around online. Most people agree that (the picture I posted) is an "H" or an "I" with a cactus in the middle. I can't confirm that the OP had the same "cactus" in his picture.
  16. The picture is not 100% accurate by any means... It's more of a guide. I'm not the best drawer, and the options available to draw with were limited to me. As for barrels and barrel devices... I do like the battlecomp, but for a 300 BLK I would need another BABC and I'm not excited about another $175+ comp. Plus the BABC is really long, and I'd like to keep the length under some control here. I think I am decided on the new Daniel Defense CHF barrel, their pre-installed low profile gas block, and their new .30 cal comp. Hopefully more to come soon... Payday is around the corner
  17. I would rank POF as one of the top end builders. They lean more towards a combat rifle than a target rifle, but don't let that fool you. They are extremely accurate straight from the factory. POF is one of those builders that you probably won't replace anything on the rifle, because you won't be able to find anything better.
  18. First part is done.... Mega Arms Billet "SBU" (Slick Body Upper) PRI Upper Height Railed.750 Gas Block
  19. OK, ever since I started playing with "black rifles" I wanted to make a .30 cal AR. I have a .308 that has been WORK IN PROGRESS for over a year as I wait on some custom parts fabrication. Recently I finished an AR15 build from scratch. It was my first build up from parts, and it was my first piston build. I'll post pics of that later in a more appropriate area. Originally I had plans to create an AR that shot the 10mm Auto. The lack of parts and magazines and the cost of 10mm became too much of a hassle for me. Next I deceided on the 7.62x39 cartridge. I was turned off by the rumors of fragile bolts, weird magazines and the lack of barrel options from credible manufacturers. I still wanted a heavy caliber battle rifle that was as reliable as an AR15, but wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg to make and shoot. When the 300BLK came out on the market I scoffed at the idea of building a wildcat rifle, fearing the cost of ammo would never make sense of the build. The 6.8 SPC and the 6.5 Grendel were eliminated due to the cost of ammo, and of course needing new mags and bolts again. Now the 300 BLK is becoming a mainstrain load and really taking the market by storm. I really want to see this round reach maximum popularity. It had all the features I looked for in a round. I can use standard AR15 parts and magazines, and still fling a 125gr lead weight out the end of my barrel. I can never build anything "normal" though. I have to push some kind of boundry. So I have come up with a kind of different approach for this new project. I like to draw up my ideas a bit before I start wrenching on bolts. I'll put a build on paper 10 or more times before it actually takes off. Here is a little peek at what I am starting... A little weird I know... and nothing is set in stone... But parts ordering has started and building should be underway soon.
  20. Anyone seen the "scout light mount" for the MOE handguard?
  21. For comparison, I have a Harris 3-9" LW BiPod... Cons: *The ModPod does not have spring loaded legs. *The lock on the legs have three set position locks. *The legs require two hands to manipulate. This is not a speedy bipod. Pros: *VERY lightweight *The side mount leaves your bottom rail open, or in my case leaves room for my hand. *Open and closed position is tight, no rattle. *The side mount also creates a different fulcrum which allows a different element to stabilizing your rifle. I have yet to actually fire a rifle with the ModPod installed. I have this installed on my .308 (still no barrel). There is another option out there, if you can find it. CAA made a side mounted bipod for a while. I think it was discontinued. I'm not a big CAA fan, and eventually gave up on them. I'm pretty sure theirs only came in black. As for the $150 price tag, I think I got them on sale somewhere or my Brownells discount. I really dont remember. You can usually find them on forums for between $100-$150 depending on the time/location.
  22. The BADASS was the only upgrade worth anything on that rifle. They can get $2800-$3000 for that rifle? I need to start selling guns to those southern boys.
  23. I have the Modpod (blk). I don't think it was worth the $150. I do like it though. As for horizontal movement, the modpod is all polymer and while it is very sturdy it still flexes enough to make minor temporary adjustment.
  24. You're right... I got them mixed up. Typing tired again, and didn't bother rereading what I wrote. It's the takesdown spring/detent.
