The first page and half definitely had some 12 Monkey babble going on. Those with the appropriate experience spoke up, addressed the issue very eloquently, and by page 3 we were back to reality. Every gun website has at least one of "them" at any given time. The legend of Gecko45 comes in many shapes and sizes. To be honest, when obviously untrained people start talking about stockpiling and fortifying, it scares the beejeezus outta me. Especially when they turn to the free unfiltered advice of the Internet for training advice. You end up with a dozen guys who jack off to Chris Costa videos sharing their interpretation like its gospel. It's a hell of a way to introduce yourself to a new forum too. Sorry, I just woke up and this thread irked the piss out of me for days before I posted. You could tell the direction this thread was going when the OP decided to throw proper english and grammar skills out the door to get his point across. The reality is our government has so many layers, it will never be able to implode on itself. There will always be some form of establishment. Furthermore, there will never be another civil war or revolution due to the fact that so many are currently dependant on Government aid. Second, no country possesses the manpower or fuel to occupy our lands. The expanse is too vast, and our population too well armed. Every General across the globe knows this. Zombies, 12/21/2012, and other apocolypse scenarios make box office $$$... That's it. The only thing left is nukes. Plausible?? Except that every 3rd world dictator knows we possess the ability to cause genocide to any country on this planet as a response to any nuclear attack on our soil. I'm more worried about running into a crackhead looking to score his next fix than I am for any "SHTF" scenario. Why can't we just buy and build guns because they are fun and we're addicts for big bangs. Let those "other" sites deal with SHTF preparedness plans.

Had enough of those pesky gators, and now you want a 308. Welcome aboard. We'll help you prep for an 800 yard gator free DMZ.

Only one place I know of that makes a NiB BCG and that is SI Defense. Unless you're ready to drop $600 on the SI-D, I suggest a Young Mfg carrier with a JP enhanced bolt. They are top quality parts. If you buy a custom barrel, you can sometimes buy a bolt from the same builder. I know Lothar Walther will do this. It will greatly increase your rifles performance and accuracy.

When experimenting with new calibers it's safe to stick to main stream build rules. An example is, a few of us have experimental builds using short barrels with rifle length gas systems. I don't know if I'd trust the off-shoot calibers to do the same. Thus I'd stick to traditional barrel length to gas system ratios. I've also heard that gas block holes sometimes need to be opened up on the other calibers.

.243, .260, 6.5, .308, 7mm-08, .338 should all be the same rifle just different barrels.

They make beautiful stuff, but I fear the best part of their company split off when Kaiser Mil Tech left. I've heard bad rumor about their business practice too. All that is opinion and hearsay. Don't let that take away from their quality of work. They are very good at what they do. They are also extra affordable for us Cali boys. If you are near the SD area, I say stop by their shop. I talked to one of their machinists on the phone a year ago. He was very helpful and took care of me in a few days.

Woohoo! :hethan:  :2nd: What is your goal? Something like a Fulton or go big like a Shilen or Satern?
-
Big Bore, what trigger are you using? And who made your barrel?
-
What are you using to hold the brake in place? You don't want to crank that thing hard into the shoulder of the barrel, at the end of the the threads. You'll mushroom that little shoulder. If you don't like the lock nut, try a crush washer or aluminum shim peel-washers. Don't trust lock tight on those. 5 or 6 rounds will heat everything up enough to defeat any of those glues.

I can see the benefits when putting lead to paper or steel. I rely on my FoV too much when I'm putting lead to flesh. I think my next scope will have a BDC for quick adjustments. I'm still staring at that Valdada Spartan.

I have a pair of Browning Mod92's in .357 and .44mag, I've shot a few of those hand load 300gr at oinkers upto 50 yards. If I want to stretch to 100 yards, I shoot 210gr for the flatter flight. My .357 is loaded with 125gr and has killed everything from squirrels to coastal blacktail deer. That rifle and a double barrel .410 sat in the back of my Dads truck for years.

I love R25's. As much as i love them, I couldn't get myself to buy the camo rifle. Still kick myself when I see them. The Rem/JP R25 is sexy as hell. Your paint looks great too. No need to make it match the rifle 100%. You did a perfect job breaking the solid patern.

I like my AR's but I'm not planning on them to survive. I'd fear a guy defending his home with a 10/22 before I fear someone assaulting mine with any black rifle of any make or caliber.

Robocop1051 replied to imschur's topic in 300 AAC Blackout
DD has a 300 BLK 16" carbine length CHF barrel available on their web site. Good price too! I feel something happening... There's a burning sensation coming from my wallet... -
Two Questions
Robocop1051 replied to Bullseyeshooter's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Very nice -
Welcome to our club house. I saw your other thread. Nice rifle.

Argh! The organization is killing me. I want to knock all the shit off your shelves and shuffle your screwdrivers up. I'll bet you separate your metric sockets from the standard sockets too. Chaos saves your mind. The longer it takes for you to find a part, the longer you get to stay in your cave. My work bench looks like Hurricane Katrina took a dump.

MARPAT = Vegitarian Diarrhea A-Tacs is the 2012 camo!! I still vote for...

I haven't been WOW'd by a single piece of news yet... Except that some boothes in the show were closed down and the attendees were escorted out by security. Something about copyright infringement with FN Herstal.

Who makes the best 308 mag loader?
Robocop1051 replied to BR-549's topic in Cleaning ,Maintenance and Tools
I've use the same one for years and it hasn't failed me yet...Have you tried using this one? I think they make a right handed model as well??? :laughing4: -
If you're a righty, and you don't care where your brass lands, you can go completely slick on the side. I bought one of those Mega SBU's for a 300 blk build.

Welcome, from Nor Cal, to our den of addicts and enablers.

Reasons for the phallic handguard: 1. Do you compete? If you do, the longer HG will protect your barrel from whacking into barricades. 2. Do you plan to use a bipod? Bipods limit available hand space. They also work better when mounted closer to the muzzle. 3. Are you using picatinny mounted sights? The farther apart the sights (longer sight radius) the more accurate the rifle. 4. Do you have an ugly barrel or gas block? Let's face it, sometimes you got to put a paper bag over head. Hide the ugly as much as you can. 5. This is the most important... Do you like how it looks? If you like it and you want, get it. If you don't like it, pass tiil you find something better.

I checked their website and brochure. If compatibility is an issue, why not just buy their upper too? The rifles look real nice.
