  1. Fulton has a lightweight and a midweight, match grade, 18" barrel. That would cut a lot of weight.
  2. When are we going to talk Roger into building a .308?
  3. I have a .221 Fireball and a 220 Swift... All those rocket .22's just demolish small game. I'd really like to shoot a .204 Ruger just for shits n giggles.
  4. Welcome to our den of Addicts and Enablers.
  5. Welcome! Us Cali guys are outnumbering the other states!
  6. I had to "persuade" my DD rail to fit with a AA Piston kit.
  7. It just looks like they took the battery tubes off an ACS and put them on a CTR... Was all that necessary? I have a question... What the heck am I supposed to put in that tiny door on the side of my ACS?
  8. Welcome to your new home! :) I love CO. Did some hunting up north in Craig and a bit of horseback riding near Durango, actually in Mancos. I took the wife to Mesa Verde to see the 4-corners and some of the indian ruins as well.
  9. Not even an hour cold and already someone is trying to "h-Imschur-jack" the deal. <lmao>
  10. You are aware that Noveske barrels don't fit most gas blocks, right? I noticed you didn't have a specific one picked out, so you might have decided to keep/use the Noveske supplied gas block. As for "velocity"... Noveske uses polygonal rifling. Polygonal barrels have been known to have slightly higher velocity over their traditional counterparts.
  11. There is a guy on face book named "Brad Alms" who works for SI Defense. He has stated several times that they are Danger Close to being available. "Someone" around here may have the carrier... Although he's being stubborn about posting pictures. <munch> I ordered the stainless carrier and the bolt combo... I have yet to hear anything on a solid release date.
  12. If you're dead-set on an illuminated scope, the extra money will definitely make a difference. As the quality of scope goes up, the "ghost" image of the illuminated cross-hair disappears. I've played with low end Chinese knock-offs all the way to top end Leupold. Each step of the way, there was a noticeable difference in quality. While the ghost image may not be a problem for shorter ranges... You'll notice for sure when you start looking out to 800+ distances.
  13. The Magpul PRS weighs in over two pounds, and the monopod has to weigh over a pound as well. That's probably 4 lbs by itself. I'd stick with a standard A2 if weight is important to you. There are lighter handguards available too. DD, SWS and Apex just to name a few.
  14. You don't. The tubes rarely cost more than $25. The cost of your time plus effort is worth more. After about 7k rounds or so (if you are having rifle trouble) just replace the SOB. The tube is much wider than the gas block hole. Id make sure that hole stayed clear of build up and debris and forget the tube. If it's that big of a deal. Strip the tube off, soak it in Simple Green, then swing by the local tobacco shop for some long pipe cleaners.
  15. Dang it, I type faster than I think sometimes... Which is really bad, because I can't type <dontknow>
  16. EDIT: Dang it all! >:( This post has been moved to it's appropriate place.
  17. Those remind me of the Mateba pistols... minus the auto cocking...
  18. I noticed >:( You know I'm calling "dibs" after your next easter egg hunt.
  19. I love those Colts. The "snake" edition pistols are some of my favorite. I just wish they had improved the cylinder release... I'm still debated on building/buying a "SMOLT" for that reason. I think I know a guy who owns one or two who needs to be persuaded to sell >:D
  20. If you need help purchasing that rifle let me know... I can help you off load those PMAG's you hijacked <laughs> Not like you can use them with an Armalite anyways. ;)
  21. Sounds good to me <thumbsup>
  22. The prices can't be posted online, as a deal made with the manufacturer. The cost is way below MSRP. To give you an idea... I bought a AR15 lower through a group buy. The lower+shipping+DROS was cheaper than the best listed price I found online.
  23. henmar77, Contact Mark Laines on CalGuns or PM me for his email address. In the summer of 2010 he organized a HUGE group buy with JD Machine for their .308's. I ended up buying an upper receiver set directly from the JD shop over the phone. As much as I liked the set, it didn't work out for my build. If Mark can get you a deal still, I suggest the matched set... Additionally, Dave Branson has a Mega Arms group buy here that has a very close price to what I spent on the JD. I know for a fact that Dave can get you just the lower if that's all you are looking for.
  24. @Timing... I fixed your links for ya <thumbsup> BTW, Nice review.. Where did you pick it up, and how much did it run you?
  25. Glad you made it here... I really like that rifle. Hell of a way to get started too! All the basics, with just a dash of flare. WTG <thumbsup> Now it's time to start on another build!
