  1. He ain't lyin'... I witnessed it. He brought this rifle out here to AZ just a few weeks ago, and I shot it. I want it. There are very, very few factory-built rifles I'd even consider, but this is one of them. Now, the price has gone up - they're around $3.5k now. IMHO, since you're goal is $3k on the rifle, then don't stop there. Wait for another 500 bucks, add that to the pot, and just get the LaRue. You're almost at that with your budget - don't quit now. <thumbsup> Me shooting his, for the first time at 4,600 feet AGL, rifle had been zero'd around sea level, with Federal Gold Medal Match, and brought here. Now, it's at 4,600 feet, shooting a different brand of match ammo (not FGGM), and it nailed the 200-yd swinger first shot. That says alot about the rifle, right there.
  2. Steve at ADCO is a straight awesome gunsmith. I don't think you'd be happier with any other situation, honestly. No kidding. <thumbsup>
  3. That's a good call, that way - keep the barrel stiff. It'll probably also be cheaper to ream the collar up, rather than reprofile 6" of barrel. Makes perfect sense. Steve @ ADCO might just have the .30 cal collars on-hand, too. <dontknow>
  4. That'll be a very, VERY nice setup! <thumbsup> :happydrunks:
  5. Not gonna make it, brother. I just checked the PRI site, remembering that i'd seen the collar and brake set, but I was hunting for 5.56 parts at the time. They don't stock the .30 cal stuff from OPS. The 5.56 collar would work with the 12th Model, .30 cal, in fitment, but the 5.56 collars are for .750" barrels. If you really need the collar, it would be worth it to shoot an email to the guys at ADCO, and see if they have just the collar. If that one strikes out, you can run the 5.56 .750" collar, but something has to be modified. ADCO can do that, no matter which way you go (reprofile barrel to .750, or machine the 5.56 collar up to .800). If you need to go the way of the 5.56 set, due to availability (or lack of the .30 cal parts), then I'd take the 5.56 brake off your hands, for whatever you'd need to sell it for. <thumbsup> PRI 5.56 OPS collar and brake: http://www.precisionreflex.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=186716&CAT=4274 ADCO contact email: steve@adcofirearms.com ADCO mainpage: http://www.adcofirearms.com/
  6. Mounts and collars are in-stock at Precision Reflex, if that's what you're still waiting for. <thumbsup>
  7. I'm a Mossberg guy, but I need to buy an 870, just for this setup. I feel it. :o
  8. I feel like making a road trip just to see if they've got the 36" double in FDE in again... <thumbsup>

    Rottweilers

I had a male Rott from a 2 1/2 month pup. Awesome dog, Zeus. <thumbsup> He was 20lbs at 2 1/2 months, and he was always 10lbs for every month old he was. 7 mos - 70lbs, 9 mos - 90lbs. Purebred from German lines. He peaked at 1 year and 105lbs, but was 125lbs at 2 years, and slightly over 150lbs at 3 years old. Trained him young, to protect the ex-wife. At a year old, he could charge me, wrap his front legs around my waist, and put me straight on the ground. I'd turn out all the lights in the house, put him in front of her, and sneak in - his giant ass would turn sideways in front of her, head would go down slightly, and he'd start a low growl. If I kept approaching, he'd put me down. My orange tiger cat Bart would whoop his ass, though... <laughs> I'd say, "Zeus! Get the cat!" He'd look at me like saying, "Really?! I can GET THE CAT?!!?..." He'd rip across the room - cat wouldn't move, mind you - and he'd pin the cat to the floor with one of thoe bigass paws, then turn and look at me... "I did good, right?..." About that time, the cat would slowly stretch his arms up, stick the claws out, and hook Zeus RIGHT in the chops. Of course, the dog would pull back - and set the claws... He'd haul ass straddle-legged through the house, dragging the cat under him, bouncing all over the floor. When the cat got tired, he'd release, then go to sleep where ever he felt like getting off that ride... <lmao> When my son was born, the ex freaked out over Zeus - "He's gonna eat the baby!!!" :o When she wasn't around, I'd bring Zeus over and say "Kiss Jake," and he'd lick the kid all over the face. Jake loved it. The ex saw that, and thought that Zeus was getting a taste for the baby. She wanted to sell the dog, but I ended up giving him away for free, to a family friend I knew back in Ohio. I shipped his heavy ass air freight from Sea-Tac airport to Columbus, Ohio, and paid the shipping bill. It was over $500 to ship that dog. She was LIVID when she found out about it. I toldher I just gave away my best friend. In hindsight, I should have shipped HER ass air freight, to whoever wanted her. We ended up divorced 2 years later. Everytime I visited family I Ohio, I'd stop in and see Zeus. He never did forget who Jake was. <thumbsup> If I ever get another big dog, it'll be another purebred Rottie.
  10. This is going to turn into one VERY nice stick! Looks great so far. <thumbsup>
  11. Currently have a Leatherman Blast. I think I've pretty much used most of the models out there, over time. Original Leatherman when I was first in the Army. Went to the Gerbers with the sliding pliers for years and years, both the silver ones and the black oxide ones. I still have a good SOG somewhere - it used to get strapped down to the rear rollbar in my Jeep, so I always knew exactly where it was. In reality, there are so many options out there, with so many models, that you can't go wrong with any of them, as long you're happy and find the one with the options you prefer. <thumbsup> Swiss Army Knives are another sickness of mine - I always carried one of those things on my belt - the bigger the better. <laughs>
  12. The only other option here is: Buy a new stripped upper receiver from Fulton Armory. They only use the old-height flat top uppers. At that point, you can just just about any rail you want. Afterwards, sell the upper you have. <thumbsup>
  13. So, you DO have the Hi-Rider upper receiver? Look closely at that thing in the pic, man. If that's the one you have, there is another, more costly, option for you. I didn't even know that DPMS made a rail for that thing, honestly. Nobody else does, unfortunately.
  14. SWEET!!! ;D
  15. She needs to :gtfo2:
  16. Yeah, brother - the hook on the end, that goes into the receiver first - use that thing to push the detent down. <thumbsup> Make sure the hammer is back (cocked) and safety on, so the buffer will clear when it shoots out... <laughs>
  17. Jon, the lower receiver doesn't care which one you use. Commercial sized tubes have a larger outer diameter (1.17"), with the threads cut down into them. Larger is not necessarily stronger, though. Mil sized tubes have a smaller outer diameter (1.14"), with rolled threads.
  18. Great ammo - was introduced to the Army at the same time as the M16A2. It's the reason we went from 1:9 twist barrels in the A1s (shooting M193 55-grainers) to the 1:7 twist in the A2. <thumbsup>
  19. That's what the end of the charging handle is for - use it to push the buffer detent down. <thumbsup> I like the tool you've made, but if the charging handle does the same thing, then there's nothing extra I need to carry with me, or keep track of.
  20. jon308, this thing right here is the DPMS LR-308B Hi-Rider. This is why I asked for a pic of your rifle, to see what we're working with, before tossing out answers that might not matter - because, if you have this, there is no other rail that will match up with it... Beyond that, on the lo-pro flat tops, there are two heights. There's a thread here on how to measure both, find the difference (old or new), and get the right rail for it.
  21. Put yourself in that situation, and suddenly, it's not so "funny..." From your perspective, and situation, you don't understand. When you're in that kinda poop, you have a kind of comaraderie and perspective, that can make certain shitty situations "filled with humor" much after the fact - amongst those that went through the same thing. From an aspect of battling nature - I get it. From an aspect of battling adversity, and overcoming it - you don't get it. Not in this perspective that you've chosen to engage.
  22. That happened - he rode it, and is now shopping for one... <thumbsup> <lmao>
  23. The M4S and M4 are rockin' 80k hours on battery life (over 8 years), with the T-1 and H-1 turning in 50k hours of battery life. I didn't check the M3 and M2, but I think those ones were upgraded to longer life. Aimpoint's main page has been hi-jacked, so be careful when searching. Computer HIV, et al. <thumbsup>
  24. GOOD!!! Another state added to the list - this is "Constitutional Carry," correct? Carry concealed with no special permit? Damn glad to see it. <thumbsup>
