Grill, smoker - doesn't matter what Dirk touches. If it makes heat, or something similar - he can cook some badass stuff on it. And it's ALWAYS DAMN GREAT...

    98's 6mm ARC

I was SHOCKED to see that there are only 4 dudes signed up for Heavy Metal - the Large Frame ARs. FLOORED! I'll be watching that very closely, to see what's going on there, and I think the .260 Rem will be going out there for the June match. I mentioned that to @JBMatt, and his response was simple... "If you're taking the .260, then I'm taking the Creedmoor..." Saturday will tell, and we'll see what's up with the results - but we might spice that Heavy Metal class up a little bit in June. Or die trying.

    98's 6mm ARC

Match was changed because of Memorial Day weekend. Will be this Saturday, 22 May. Registration opened on Monday this week, and I signed right up. Me, @JBMatt and DirtBike Tommy are all in the same squad. If nobody likes shiit-talking - then we'll just all shiit-talk each other the whole time... The others will eventually catch on, and get with the program... Here's this month's stage info breakdown... Disappointed to NOT see that 710 make an appearance this time. BUT, they're timing the first stage - in case of a tie-breaker at the end. Guess there have been some dudes that were close at the finish, before - they time that one, and it breaks any tied scores at the end, based on overall time on that one stage. I LIKE IT!!!... 5-22-21 Stage 1.pdf 5-22-21 Stage 2.pdf 5-22-21 Stage 3.pdf 5-22-21 Stage 4.pdf 5-22-21 Stage 5.pdf
  4. The only thing I didn't like about that scope was - no exposed turrets. No markings to dial with. I've looked at it numerous times, hoping they'd change it, but they haven't. I'm a dummy, and need to look at numbers when dialing...
  5. The Valk aint' bad, brother - not in the least. It just didn't live up to the hype that they announced it at. I like mine, won't sell it - but I won't put it up against a Grendel or my Mk11 gun - that they said it was gonna crush.... Fuckin' magazine people...
  6. You need to hang out with me more, man - I punch these things up all the time.

He doesn't have as many kids as @Matt.Cross - but he ain't far off... If there was a runner-up to Matt - it's Eric. I think Matt is up to 17 now...
  8. I saw it all - and I can't refute any of it... No credit cards in this house - he nailed it. I killed credit cards in 2008, and fighting those cocksuckers was something else. If I don't have the money for it, I don't buy it - but I don't do anything on credit, for nothing. Never will again, either. "Smart" phones aren't. Those companies can tell you anything they want about "encryption" - but they're not encrypted. I hacked 'em for a living. Did quite well at it, too - and that's why I won't have one. Hack my "cloud" fuckers out there, because I don't have a cloud... Had a Com 64, and that Vic 20 mentioned below, as a teenager. That's where I learned, very early on. Yeah ^^^ that, too! WHAAAAT?!!? Made my own video games with a Vic 20. Programmed all of them... This, sadly, is true. You need to be able to do EVERYTHING you do manually. If you can't do it manually - you will get fucked when your batteries fail. If you ONLY know how to do it with the tech aids - those won't last forever. If you know how to do it manually - even running math on a notebook and a pen, with your brain (and math), and what you observe - that won't fail you when the batteries die, or the electricity is cut off. Estimate range, run ballistic solutions for your scope, for distance, wind, density altitude and your load... Who cares if the batteries die? If you can do it on your own, it doesn't matter. This all comes back to Land Navigation. It does. With a compass, protractor, and a map - and decades of experience with terrain association - I will beat your GPS device all day long. I'll really beat it, once your batteries fail - and you don't know what I know, about Land Nav. This is the exact reason that I teach distance shooting the way that I do. Only the basics, nothing more, learn the math, the factors, constants, and how to use them... One day, tech will fail you. If you know the math and the basics, and you're proficient at it - then the tech doesn't matter. You, at that point, will beat that guy, that relies on the tech all the time. You win, he loses - because he just doesn't know the "simplistics" of it all. Thus endeth the Sermon for the night... Learn, fuckers... Learn...
  9. I only have one, and I certainly won't build another one... I built an 18" Valk from the BA SPR profile barrel, and basically I only did it because of all the hype surrounding it when they announced it. They compared it to 6.5 Grendel, and the Hornady .308 178gr ELD-X. Right up my alley, right there, advertisers. I built it almost identical to my Grendel SPR build, and my Mk12 Mod 1 (5.56) build, to shoot it against those two, plus my Mk11 - which has only seen handloads of 178 ELD-X for it's entire life - and it is BADASS... Determination? The Valk isn't what they cracked it up to be, it doesn't beat the Grendel, and the Mk11 178 ELD-X smokes it. I built the thing to disprove the magazine and advertisement shiit-talking and hype that was going on when it was launched. It doesn't measure up to all that was said about it, nowhere close. Will I sell it? Nope, I'll keep it. It's already built, paid for, and I figured out a solid load with 88gr ELD-Ms, and it does work. It just doesn't smoke Grendel or any 178 ELD-X .30 cal load that's worth a damn. I'll hang onto it, so when someone says "Valk will KILL that!..." - I have it standing by, to prove them wrong. I certainly won't build any more of them. One did it for me. Just my $0.02. 6 ARC smokes all this small frame stuff, by miles. Nothing else is even in it's league. I'm sticking with that. Doesn't mean I'm selling any Grendels - just means I'm building more 6 ARCS. I'm up to 2 of them now...
  10. I think my 6 ARC 12.5" Faxon barrel was 0.070" gas port, carbine gas, 0.750" journal. I didn't post that in the gas port info thread, but I'm pretty sure I posted it in the build thread. No harm going over, you know it's gonna work.
  11. Nah, gone.
  12. That's only because nobody else is shooting that gawd-awful platform...
  13. RRA shipped factory guns with TherMold mags. They even had TherMold put the RRA logo in them. So, yes.
  14. Hell yeah, Albro!!! Any day shooting is worth twice as much as a day working. Well done. P.S. That's a good lookin' range, right there.
  15. Ooooh - he really twisted it up - but it makes sense. Well played @DNP
  16. Same here - they just work. And don't break the bank.
  17. Pictures of the malfunction would help.
  18. Bore the same-diameter hole, straight up through. Done.
  19. Every quarter that you add gets you 0.069" of space-freedom. Stack 'em if you have to, make up whatever space you need to. In the old(er) days, it took $1.75 to make a pistol caliber carbine run with a regular AR15 buffer. .
  20. They put out great firearms - and that 10mm is a BEAUTY!!! Hang on to that thing, man - what an awesome pistola.
  21. I like it, alot. Keep plugging away, brother.
  22. Those are the TherMolds, but they work just like the metal mags.
  23. I'm pretty sure that @JBMatt is just tired of shooting a mile - without someone he can poke at, that's shooting it with him...
  24. Truth, right there. I can't get small pistol primers for anything, and it's fucking up my pistol training. I kept up on most of my stuff, and have powders, primers and projectiles for my rifle calibers, but I slipped up on my .300 Win Mag stuff. It's been about 3 months that I've been out of the one-mile playtime, because I ran out of loaded ammo, and couldn't get the Hornady 225gr ELD-Ms. @JBMatt hooked me up last week, and called and texted about it - IN STOCK at Natchez. I hopped on and bought 400, and they get delivered tomorrow. I didn't respond to Matt fast enough, and he had 200 in his cart, in case he didn't hear from me - just because. THAT is a friend, right there...
