That's a Russian round, that 7.62 x 54. You try to chamber one of those things in your gun, and successfully get it to go off - and we'll See You On The Other Side... SYOTOS...

^^^ That's a great update, man - very well done. Your thread should almost be a sticky or pinned here in this section, just to let others know what they need to do to a PSA PA-10 to make it run.

^^^ AND... Back In The Day... when the military was testing 7.62 NATO ammo, the way to measure pressure was completely different than the methods used to test and measure the civilian equipment/ammo...

Enough lube on a new gun, along with total round count. These big things do need to break in, and break in wet.

I'll jump in on this, too, with my last experience. I ordered a complete upper from LaRue Tactical. Ordered on June 17th. Pandemic-Bullshiit in FULL SWING, too. Called a week later, and asked, "What am I looking at here, time-wise"... Oh, 1~3 months. Okay, just looking for a timeline, got one. Called at the end of month ONE, being hopeful, you know... Same guy on the phone, too. He says, "Oh, that'll be 2~4 months..." Alright, I get it. Called at the end of month 4, same guy on the phone, says, "Oh, what YOU ordered is 5~6 months..." Alright, I'm getting frustrated, but I get it... I broke it all down to him on the phone, during that call. You told me this, then this... but I understand their side of it, too - WITH EVERYTHING THAT'S GOING ON... So, I call AGAIN at the end of month 5... and I think he recognized my phone number or something. He breaks right out with, "You were told that this was a 6-month minimum for this order..." and we talked. No, it was never a 6-month minimum for my order - but I GET IT. So, I'm ready to call them again on December 17th - the first day of the 7th month... and I get tracking information on the 16th of December... Hey, TIMES ARE TOUGH if you're a GUN MANUFACTURER. Not if you're some CUSTOMER SERVICE call-center guy for a Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, WAY BACK IN 1981. So don't toss this shiit in here, like you know the Gun Industry. Don't try to compare the Gun Industry to some house-cleaning service, and tie it all together with some "People expect products in a timely, quality manner" bullshiit. I told you earlier, you're not comparing apples to oranges. You're trying to compare apples to hammers, in an Industry that you do NOT understand. Trying to yank the "Customer Service and Quality Products in a Timely Manner" doesn't have a single thing to do with the Gun Industry, during a year of UNPRECENDETED DEMAND FOR THEIR PRODUCT. What you're stating, doesn't even compare, during a normal year... So, get off the high horse, stop whining about it - and either cancel your order and move on - or shut the fuk up already, and wait PATIENTLY for your order to come through. You'll GET what you ordered. It's just not gonna be on your unrealistic timeline, during the times that we're all facing. You're lucky that you got to order one at all, in the first place. By the way - have you looked for AMMO for your gun yet? Good Luck...

There was lot's of study over the years, but the in-depth crash course, with one-on-one instruction and practice, was a couple years ago at the Fall Shoot. That was invaluable training, right there, and really upped my proficiency level. He was schmammered, as was I, so it made it much easier to pick up on all the little nuances...

Nothing I said is sad. Not to me, not in the least. I stand by what I stated. Fully.

That bitch was laser-engraved with the PSA logo and PA-10 right on the bottom of it, brother, and that thing was 8.000" internal depth. We swapped one of my 3.250" H3 buffer in there, and STILL had to stack some quarters in the tube, to keep your BCG from slamming the ears on the lower... Maybe RRA was the ones making those for PSA, and engraving them for PSA - and it ended up on your RRA instead. And you had a short buffer...

Thank you, Mi Amigo. ❤️ @Retired Mike - we know what you need for a buffer, but lets address that spring as a next step, if necessary. Get the new (correctly weighted H3, 5.4oz) buffer in there first, and run the gun. If we have a spring issue, the quick, cheap fix is to just use an Armalite EA1095 spring. That's their AR-10 recoil spring. They run that same spring in their AR-10 Carbine Recoil System, AND in the AR-10 Rifle Recoil System - and it just works. Every time. You'll have an extension is 8.000" internal with a buffer of 3.250" moving inside it. That's 4.750" of movement inside the extension, that the spring must control. AR-10 Carbine is 7 5/8" internal (7.625") with a 3.250" buffer = 4.375" of movement/spring control. AR-10 Rifle is 9 11/16" internal (9.688") with a 5.200 AR-10 Rifle Buffer length = 4.488" of movement/spring control. That's how the same spring works in both recoil systems. Coil bind (compressed length) on the EA1095 spring is 2.448". I'll bet it would work fine, but maybe there's a very specific reason that Slash offers his very own spring for the RRA LAR-8s. If you get the H3 buffer, and it doesn't solve everything, and you need to make a spring change, and you use that EA1095 spring on my recommendation - and it doesn't work... Then you'll need Slash's spring, and we'll all know that in the future. If that is what all happens, I'll buy that EA1095 spring for what you have to pay for it, with shipping that you had to pay, plus shipping to me for it. I can always use a spare, and Slash is WAY SMARTER on Recoil Systems than I am...

This makes perfect sense, mathematically. Normally, in the RRA LAR-8, you'd have to run a 2.250" buffer to run the standard 7.000" internal-depth AR15 Carbine Receiver extension. As mentioned earlier, the RRA LAR-8 BCG is 1/4" longer than DPMS LR-308 and Armalite AR-10 BCGs (same OAL for those two brands). SO, that longer BCG needs a shorter buffer, to be able to fit into the same space (length of extension). Got it... Now, by MOVING to an 8.000" internal depth carbine receiver extension - they can use a buffer that's exactly 1.000" longer, follow? What's that new buffer length... 3.250"... Standard AR15 carbine buffer length, which is... Armalite AR-10 Carbine Buffer length. Makes perfect sense to me for them to switch to that. Makes perfect sense to me, also, as to why Slash has his warning/advisement in his buffer listing. @Retired Mike - that buffer you're running is just a 3.250" long standard AR15 carbine buffer - you listed 2.9oz, the AR15 exact part should weigh in at 3.0oz, for standard carbine. What I'm saying is - that not even an H1 buffer (3.8oz), it's not even an H2 buffer (4.6oz), and it's definitely not the H3 buffer (5.4oz). Quick fix it this - just toss any old AR15 H3 Carbine Buffer. Or use the Armalite AR-10 Carbine buffer, because those are all H3-weighted... Solved, brothers. And we know why. Subnote - now, I know why @sketch ended up a few years ago with a PA-10 Carbine extension that was 8.000" internal depth - someone at PSA copied what RRA was doing, and made those extension that way - but they didn't know why, what it would impact, or what the differences were between the major platforms... Hmmm...

Damn, my old Stompin' Grounds! Have him come up here to my location some weekend, Rob, and we'll go expend valuable materials...

I had to physically fit one in an Aero M5 upper receiver, just to test the function of the complete PSA upper that I was looking at - I had to do this, because the PSA upper would not close and pin to the Aero M5 lower I was using for the test of that complete PSA upper. It fit in the M5 fine, the PSA BCG ran fine in there. I ran it with no handguard at all, because I was looking at gas port sizing problems, and resizing as I went, until it ran correctly.

You "can't forget how to ride" like Jay-Rod did... No wrecking @DNP 's wife's bike 3 times on the same ride...

Man, it's a fun crowd this weekend, I'll tell ya!...

Bet you can't post pics of that stuff on Twitter and FaceBook - without getting a warning or suspension... Those two companies need to swirl at the bottom of the toilet, and just get flushed. Anti-Fucking-American, with their censorship. They're the 1st Amendment's worst enemy...

You just turned into Rene's Official Interpreter. Don't worry, it's not a bad title to hold. I'm @sketch's Official Interpreter - but I lose control alot of times...

Well, GAWD DAYUM!!! Imagine THAT Shiit, right there!!! Maybe I'm not as dumb as I look, you rotten bastards. I fuckin' TOLD YA'S, too...

That buffer weight doesn't surprise me. That's damn near half of what your buffer weight should be, to run a .308AR. You need to email Clint @ HeavyBuffers.com... Those two tubes are exactly what you think - they fit CR123 batteries. Email him: clint@heavybuffers.com Make sure you tell him that .308AR.com sent you...

Indeed... Already planning the next one, after parts come in to fix this engine. Taking BOTH next time - 2-stroke and the 4-stroke. One goes down, fuk it - rip the other one. No headlights on the 2-stroke, though, so I need the 4-t to ride at night. You ain't kiddin'... Plus, there are WAY BIGGER hills out there. I'll let you know on the plans for the next one, brother - I'm trying to get these local guys to make a trip down south - they've NEVER ridden the south dunes. Only Glamis, up north. I'll keep you advised. It'll definitely be an off-weekend, no holidays. Pull into Ogilby Campground all the way under the trees, right up against the little dunes...

Built one. Now the information is stuck... BUT I FUCKED IT UP!!! I guess there's too MANY numbers stuck in this noggin!!! The original sets were DPMS LOW PROFILE, 0.160" tang on the upper... The Newer DPMS Sets that Chris makes are still DPMS LOW PROFILE... Sorry - numbers confuse me sometimes...
