Good news, man.

For how much it matters for a 1:9" twist on a .308 Win round - I've shot 185gr Berger Juggernauts through this gun, I've handloaded Hornady 195gr HPBTs for it, and I regularly shoot 178gr Hornady projectiles through it (just switched over to ELD-Xs from HPBTs) - and it is very, very accurate. You shouldn't need a 1:9" for a .308 Win round, even using some pretty heavy projectiles. I could see 1:9" if all you were gonna do is shoot 225s - but it's not necessary for typical "heavy" handloads or available loaded ammo. 1:10" twist will do fine for almost everything out there, unless you're going super-heavy.

The buffer and BCG are a weird combination, as mentioned previously. That's just spending money for no real gain or benefit. Weight is what softens the recoil of a .308 Win round, as well as spring pressure. I finished one not long ago - full mass Toolcraft BCG, Armalite AR-10 Rifle recoil system (EA1095 spring and 5.4oz 5.200" .308 Rifle Buffer). After that, I added another 4oz into the back of the BCG body. THAT is a soft shooter, scope stays on target during shots at long distances... Instead of that barrel, I'd buy this one and be done. It's gonna shoot very, very accurately, too. https://www.ballisticadvantage.com/20-inch-308-fluted-rifle-ss-premium-barrel.html If not that barrel, or I was in a pinch and it was out of stock, I wouldn't hesitatea second to buy a barrel from Fulton Armory. This one closest fits what you're looking for (no flutes): https://www.fulton-armory.com/barrelfatitan20nmm110ss1x12875gasblockthreaded.aspx ^^^ I have the 18.5" version of that barrel, and it's is just stupid-accurate. It's on the same gun I was describing the recoil system on, above.

This is exactly what I do. I have alot of gauges, calipers, micrometers - for work on engines. Nothing that goes as small as I need for gasports. Numbered drill bits and a digital vernier caliper work perfectly, in that regard.

DPMS Low upper barrel nut aligns but doesn't!

Pics, man. Pics. Don't know what that was that you attached previously, but it wasn't a picture format that can be viewed on a computer. -
Count the numbers that are out there on this coronavirus BS. It's the fucking FLU. It's just that nobody has a vaccine for this one yet. It's only "out of control" and "a major pandemic" because the Chinese DON'T VACCINATE. Can you imagine the pricetag for that country, to vaccinate it's (MASSIVE) population?! It doesn't happen - and they don't. Therefore, it spread fast - if it was really just the FLU or not - if it's not some out of control bio-weapon that got out. Here's the FLU this year in the United States. BIG difference in numbers. 26~36 million infections. Yeah, the number is THAT big, right here in the US. 12~17 millions visits to the doc over it. 250k~440k hospitalizations. 14k~36k DEATHS. That's right here in the United States. And we HAVE a vaccine. Now, during this FLU season, it already transitioned from one virus to a new virus - right here, in the US - and we don't have a vaccine for the new one... You get that next FLU season, at the end of this year. That's how FLU works... You NEVER get the vaccine for what might hit you - you get the vaccine for what happened LAST YEAR... Don't believe me? Check CDC's own website on this info: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm Coronavirus (3rd one, now) is just the FLU without a vaccine yet - and the Chinese weren't prepared for this. That is on them, and their infrastructure, not us. First one was SARS, second one was MERS, now it's the Novel Coronavirus. 3rd one in this pattern. And more people die here a year from the common Influenza issues in this country. This is not a big deal - but the media won't let you buy that... Why aren't they covering the somewhere-between 14K~36K deaths we've had in THIS COUNTRY, just from the regular old Influenza?...

Here's some good shiit - this came from SOFREP: The Coronavirus: Is China using it as a weapon? by John Cote 3 days ago Share This : Television and radio news outlets are providing updates on the current spread of the Coronavirus. The Coronavirus first presented itself to the medical researchers in 1960 when it was found in the respiratory tract of a patient with a common cold. It gets its name from the crown-like spikes which radiate out from all over the surface of the virus. Its discovery created the new form of virus, Coronaviridae. Two other forms of Coronavirus exist and they are the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS, which was introduced into the human population in 2003 when a farmer in Guangdong China got it from a civet — a cat-like animal. Then in 2012, the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome MERS virus was isolated in a patient in Saudi Arabia. SARS spread to 37 different countries infecting a total of 8,448 patients and killing 858; the spillover came from Camels. The current form of coronavirus is called Novel Coronavirus ( 2019-nCoV). It presented itself to the human population sometime in the early part of December 2019. We still do not know the origin of its jump from an animal to a human. Originally, the Chinese government claimed that the first case came from a Chinese Wet market located in Wuhan. Fact: The Wuhan Wet market was inspected by government officials two months before the outbreak. Fact: Wuhan Institute of Virology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was established in 2015 in Hubei China. This facility is the only Level BSL4 laboratory in China. Fact: The Wuhan Institute is currently conducting studies with the coronavirus. This is known by the scientific papers published by staff members. Fact: This new illness presented itself during the largest human migration of the year: the Chinese New Year celebration. Over 1.5 billion people are on the move across the globe visiting family members. Fact: This illness presented itself during the normal flu season. Fact: This illness appears to have a 14-day incubation period and the illness can be spread asymptomatically meaning it can be contagious even before the symptoms present themselves. Fact: 2019-nCoV has no natural immunity. Fact: There is no vaccine available. Fact: Chinese officials have now stated it spreads by way of droplets and aerosols. Nadine Gurr and Benjamin Cole stated in their book The New Face of Terrorism, threats from weapons of mass destruction: “Outside of war situations, states have used NBC weapons for covert operations many times.” As an example, they mention that “in the 1970s, Cuba accused the U.S.A. of being responsible for blue mold found on their tobacco crops, and cane smut on sugar cane. But since these blights are not unknown to Cuba, it’s impossible to tell if this was a covert Biological Weapons (BW) attack.” The mayor of Wuhan was told by the Central Government of China to keep the outbreak of this new virus secret. He allowed five million people to leave Wuhan before steps were taken to restrict travel from the infected region. These five million people were the initial carriers of 2019-nCoV. My contention is that this outbreak was a test to see how effectively this new weaponized virus would spread. History has shown that the Central Government of China cares little about its population. I would not be surprised if this were a test that has spun completely out of control. The reason I believe that 2019-nCoV has been weaponized is that it is highly contagious even before symptoms start appearing in the victims. The one major diagnostic test used by officials to control the spread of the disease is checking the temperature of the patient and if they have a fever then they are suspected of having the virus. However, 2019-nCoV can be spread by patients who are asymptomatic, which means that symptoms wouldn’t show yet. Passengers carrying 2019-nCoV can easily pass through airport checkpoints undetected and they are still contagious. Time will tell if I am correct or not.

My mom told me this a few years ago... It started out all sweet, and motherly, and then... I realized how close I'd come... She told me, "When you were little, you were so sweet when you were sleeping. I'd come in and look at you,and you were so sweet like that. And it was everything I had to keep from choking you for what you did that day..." No shiit. She told me that. The only thing I could think to say was, "MOTHER!!! Don't MAKE ME CHOKE YOU OUT RIGHT NOW!!!" If you get to meet her, you'll understand - I corrupted my own mother. She never cussed until I came back from Basic Training. I turned her on to a complete new world, with wonderful Army vernacular and vocabulary. She had NO idea that "FUK!" , and it's derivatives, can be a noun, verb, adjective and adverb - until I came back from Basic. From them on, it only escalated. @AZMan (Dan) has met her, @DNP (Dirk) has met her, and @Matt.Cross has met her. Those guys think that I'm the way I am, because of HER. Little do they know - I corrupted her, and she's the way SHE is, because of me... Morale of the story - do enough in life that you can be a positive role model on your own parents...

Yeah - back in those days, if a young member of the herd wasn't gonna make it, they'd just get eaten. Not saying you weren't gonna make it, brother, but think about one of those childhood colds that you had, or something like that - you know they were thinking, "Should we just eat him?...? Damn glad you didn't get eaten, Doc!
-
Not mentioned yet, Doc - but this is badass, brother. Awesome.

That's exactly what I've done in the past, when jumpers can't hit the drop zone. If I was running the DZ, I was responsible for all the equipment (and sending the reports that jumpers were off the DZ. Damned if I was ever losing a parachute because someone couldn't fly it - I'd go out the next day and get the parachutes back. Set of tree spikes, harness belt, two straps (one set long and one set shorter), chainsaw on a 6' piece of one inch tubular nylon, hanging from the belt. Q-Tip the tree, until I was up to the parachute. Get it out, let it fall, go get it, and turn it in damaged. Better than not turning it in at all and writing it off on a Statement of Charges. 110ft Nisqually Pines are no joke, when you're up there - this guy in this vid is WAY higher than that; that's BALLS! Worst was a jumper that hit TWO trees. Had to go up one, Q-Tip it, clear the chute, come down. Go up the OTHER tree, Q-Tip it, and finally free the chute from that one. That sucked ass.

Yep, pics will help. I think I know what you're talking about already, and have a solution - if it's what I think it is. -
That would explain why I thought that price was high...
-
This is the only place I found that didn't outright state that it was out of stock - worth a call to them, on the chance that they have one still: https://www.wolverinesupplies.com/ProductDetail/AMLEX0022_-Armalite-30mm-One-Piece-Scope-Mount---Medium-
-
I fully endorse your quest, and support it. I love the old Armalite mounts. I've only got one 30mm and one 1" - and they really work. Solid stuff. (No, you can't have my 30mm - I'm just backing you up and supporting you in this endeavor... )

Did some griddle work today. Parents finally made it out to AZ, so it was time to cook for them. Got the big griddle for the Camp Chef stove, seasoned that thing in, and put it to it's first cook. thin sliced potatoes with bell peppers and onions, sauteed red onions and mushrooms, with garlic and balsamic vinegar (to put on the steaks), 2 thick ribeyes and 2 thick NY strips, one skewer of shrimp, then asparagas. This little thing cooks like a champ! YUM!!!
-
That's good data - nice work!

For some reason, from my recent stories, it seems like you're talking about ME here. For some reason, you might think that you go to SHOT Show and buy everything you can, and come back with JUST A KILLIN'... Well, you do - as a vendor... In the long run... SHOT doesn't allow ANY sales of gear or equipment on the floor, and - big one here - if you're a vendor and selling whilst AT SHOT - you are gone. You'll never be back, as a vendor. It's not a fucking Gun Show, where you sell everything you can. You don't bargain or haggle with a customer, on the floor, then take their money and trade your wares. That's not what SHOT is - but you apparently don't realize that. SHOT is the INDUSTRY Trade Show. Nothing is sold there, over-the-counter, nothing. That's not even "legal" there. What you do at SHOT is make connections - you CONNECT with vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers. Those CONNECTIONS that you make, last you throughout the year, in your business - or they last a lifetime. Yes, you can make deals, commitments, and purchase orders - but that's not delivered right there, on the floor of the show. For fuks sake @edgecrusher sold $70k of body armor right there on the floor, on Wednesday alone... If you're such a dumbass that all you think I got from SHOT was a $3k bar tab, that shows what you don't even have a clue about. You just revealed how stupid you are about the whole thing, and the whole reason for the show. That $3k bar tab was from an investor - and there's a new investor in the company now... You're Welcome. However, YOU know what you're talking about... You're fucking clueless about this industry...
-
You have about 87 of these things, don't ya?... Stocked away... I love it...
-
Obviously, we have to blame you...
-
The only people that think I come off as a dick - are dickheads. I'm far from that, and if you knew me, Jim - and you should by now, how many years? How many PMs? - if you knew me Jim, you'd know that already. I have zero patience for complete assholes. Won't give then the time of day. You shouldn't be shocked or surprised by that statement.
-
I might just order one from White Oak and roll the dice. I've never even put my barrel in an upper yet - just bought it and stocked it away.
-
I heard that one's a real bitch to reload for, and you have to pay SERIOUS ATTENTION - fuk it up and you're done...
-
I haven't even started on mine yet - barrel is in a drawer, no kidding. I need to pick up another receiver, mount the thing, and see what's what. Your original gas tube was 11.000", right?
