  1. Same here. See if you can drag him back here...
  2. Which one did you get, brother? Loading your own ammo for it?
  3. I know - I've read reviews that are all over the place on them, but I've seen alot of reviews that were positive (1 MOA or under) with off-the-shelf ammo, for this specific length/profile. I risked it, and grabbed the thing. That's the primary reason I went up it with the borescope - look for something shady, or ugly. The chamber was good, and the start of the rifling wasn't crazy. That little burr at the gas port will go away quick - they just went too fast with the drill bit on that. The gas port diameter spec'd out to exactly what they said it would be (0.071"), so that sounds like it'll be enough to run it well. If it doesn't like my handloads for the other (confirmed, shot and zero'd) two Grendels, I'll play with it some and see if it prefers a different powder charge - I'll give it the chance. I have another 18" Grendel that needs to get sighted/broke in, with this one. So, chamber looks alright, rifling looks alright - if the interior of the crown is screwed, I'll have it cut to 14.5" and rethreaded/recrowned, and give it another shot. Literally. If that doesn't work, it turns into a short tomato stake.

Happy Birthday to the Much Better Half!!!
  5. New Precision Rifle stock on the market, from Seekins Precision. No doubt at all that it will be very well built. http://www.seekinsprecision.com/procomp-10x.html Primary Arms has it for a good deal right now.
  6. This is pretty funny. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/06/05/david-hogg-arm-wrestling-kaitlin-bennett/674141002/
  7. This is just crazy. What a fascinating video... Make sure you hit this one, too - AR15 lower from beer cans...
  8. That's okay - they're still well worth that, and alot more, brother. That crazy cheap $70-something barrel I just bought went on sale for $49, right after I received my tracking number...
  9. Took a trip through the barrel with the 5mm borescope. Didn't clean it, nothing - wanted to see what was in there first. Chamber looks good, rifling looks good, I see a very little burr right there at the gas port, but that'll be gone with the first round outta the barrel. Hope it shoots like they say it will. Went after it with the Bore Snake after getting the video. It's ready for some rangetime...
  10. Yeah, I didn't mess the title up... Mark LaRue put his MBT 2S trigger on sale for $87 each. This sale lasts until Christmas 2018. For real. LaRue MBT Christmas Sale !! $87 each through Christmas !! We introduced our MBT in early 2015 at $250 each. Then made some efficiency changes that made that amount way more than our profit model called for. So we came down to $200. Then consolidated the whole trigger shop into one large trigger hall. But that proved so efficient, we added the "I can wait price of $125", then we made more ergonomic changes in-house that smoothed through-put even more, so we had the $99 MBT sale. That got us somewhere past the 40,000th MBT trigger made, sold, or installed in LaRue rifles. "So Mark, what's with the $87 bucks?" Glad you asked. I want to ship the 50,000th MBT trigger before Christmas. Enjoy the savings ? Mark LaRue
  11. Hey, hey now... I like dogs ALOT more than he does...
  12. I know when I first put that one together, I tossed an AR-15 catch in it. It functioned, but I didn't like the engagement on the follower on an empty mag. I know I had trouble finding "the perfect" solution... I didn't address it on my build thread, and it took so damn long to build that gun that I forgot what I used now...
  13. I can't remember what catch I used in my .338 Fed, on the Matrix receivers. I had to knock that corner off; it wouldn't clear. Maybe is was a 10A catch? I'll have to look at it again.
  14. He'd eat me alive if I tried to take him out, brother...
  15. This guy right here is almost 0.090" longer than that 10B catch posted above - you think you'll have to knock that squared edge off the back of it so it'll pivot okay?

Woke up at 5:30 this morning, prepped the ribeyes and the chuck steak. Bring 'em up to room temp, salt and sit 45 minutes per side (or maybe longer). Got the shrimp and the cheddar brats ready. Done cooking for the week, already. Gotta beat the heat, and grill in the morning. Gets too damn hot here to cook inside the house.
  17. @washguy Right on, brother!!! I went through this thing to gather a price and get a parts list together. Kinda shocked at it, but to be fair, Matt left that rail at my house as an ambush - that would have easily moved this price north by $200, minimum... $74 Bear Creek Arsenal barrel, 16" stainless carbine gas, M4 profile (Primary Arms sale). Just days after I ordered it, they put it on sale again for $49. Damnit. $34 Matrix stripped upper receiver (PA sale). $164 to DSG Arms for: B5 stock, VLTOR A5 H buffer and spring, DSG lock plate and ring (RE), standard charging handle and PRI Combat Latch for it, Seekins enhanced bolt catch and hardware, port door kit and forward assist kit, mag catch parts, buffer retainer/spring, and carbine gas tube. $75 to my Gun Pusher for the Aero Gen 2 stripped lower. $74 to Huckleberry Arms (GREAT GUY!!!) for the Toolcraft nitrided 6.5G BCG. $21 to Shooter's World (over the counter) for the RVG forward grip. Could have picked it up cheaper, but forgot to order it... Rail came from Matt, as well as the pistol grip. Had the MaTech BUIS and 30-cal A2 FH already. Colt M4 FSB came out of the parts box to get modded. Takedown and pivot pins, springs, detents came out of the parts box. Regular old safety selector, pin and spring from the parts box. Enhanced trigger guard (aluminum one) from a batch of them, in the parts box. $200 to my tool truck guy at work - he sells gun parts. Got the KE Arms SLT-1 trigger from him. That's the single most expensive thing so far. $642 into this thing. With a mil-spec trigger from the parts box, it could have been $442. Pretty damn cool. Gotta say, that SLT-1 trigger is pretty nice. Good, short single stage with very short reset. Light pull, minimal takeup (very short takeup!), and it breaks easy. They list the pull weight at 4.5lbs, but is sure does feel lighter than that. Never noticed this before - TactiCat has a Peace Symbol on the top of his head...
  18. Total setup... I shoulda seen that...
  19. SMACK! This guy rocks. Completely badass. DeerMeatForDinner... he get's it done...
  20. Fuk me, here we go...
  21. That's what I was thinking!
  22. I use these, almost exclusively now. I don't even look at crush washers anymore, or peel washers. These things are the sheeeeiiit. With these things, you base it off the largest shim, and calculate from there - they include a chart, for degrees of rotation needed. No way that muzzle device will bottom. https://precisionarmament.com/product/accu-washer-system/
  23. EDIT - I removed this one. Needlessly bashed PSA again, but I think they'll get the hint. Edit complete.
  24. It is insane. I lost my shiit in the Spring Shoot, when we shot it for the first time. I got that thing done about a week before the spring shoot, and hadn't even shot it yet. I figured, since it was short, that I'd HOPE to get it on at 500 yards. DAMN! Was I wrong, on that brother. WAY wrong. On the 18" Grendel I was 3.0 mils drop at 500 yards. On the 12.5" Grendel, I was 4.0 mils drop... fornicate me, this thing performs! Matt and I stretched it out to the 845 target. The short one was making impacts center-of-mass after dialing on the drop, and it was consistent as hell - I was nuts about that. I couldn't contain myself... I was so happy, I think I peed on Matt over it... The cartridge is fucking magic, man. It's fucking magic. You won't find anything in a small-frame AR that can beat it. I hedge that up to the .224 Valk, too...
