    SFPD shootout

I managed to find another video, from a different angle. It shows things very clearly.
  2. All you're doing with those measurements is checking the exterior dimensions, and the headspace, in a sense, for a .308 Winchester round. Get into the teeth in inside that barrel extension and see what you find - where the lugs on the bolt lock in. That's what you need to focus on. What you've measure doesn't matter, in the grand scheme of things. We've already got a whole big thread on the differences between the bolts and bolt carriers - there's where your meat and potatoes are. I've already successfully built and run a complete Armalite AR-10 "guts" system in a DPMS-based receiver set - it works flawlessly. Armalite complete BCG and barrel - and the recoil system, which really doesn't matter, system to system.
  3. What I've learned over the years - crimp semi-auto loads. I can tell you I've personally seen this - as well as others here that were at the range when this happened. We were possibly saved by a failure to feed, in a 5.56 gun running a Beta 100rd drum. None of the reloads were crimped. The setback (into the case) was so severe, just from recoil on a bump stock, that a setback round locked up the feeding operation. Had it NOT locked it up, and actually chambered, that spike in chamber pressure, from compacting that round like it did, could have been disastrous. Looking at every other round we could see, down into that Beta mag - they were all setback... So, don't crimp your bolt-gun rounds - cool. Got it. You need to crimp anything that's gonna go through a semi.
  4. ^^^ Just keep that guy away from the table saw, gawd daymit...
  5. Hacker. I might try that.
  6. You said "trump." That's gonna make geistacwm shiit his pants...
  7. Yeah...
  8. Yeah, you think YOU have issues. Look what I stumbled upon when I dropped in on my Gun Pusher...
  9. ^^^ That's what the panic buyers always do - the ones that never had an evil black rifle, and suddenly feel they need one.
  10. Their initial email said they had 35k of them made... THAT is impressive! (Multipy that by a hundred bucks...) Mark LaRue is a SMART man.
  11. I just put this in the Wal-Mart 21 thread, but I need to put it here, too... Dick's Sporting Goods, making their statement about not selling ARs anymore, after Sandy Hook... I get it. They caved to policital pressure, and showed their true side. So, fuk them. Now, Dick's Sporting Goods, opening a NEW CHAIN called "Field and Stream" in 2013, so they CAN CONTINUE to sell ARs there... I have a big problem with that. That's way worse than Malarkey views/his wife's donations, and the X-Products bullshiit...

  13. Welcome - where at in Ohio, man? I'm originally from Zanesville.
  14. ^^^ That's what we all said the last time they did this, with their propaganda... The firearms community is ready to HANG X-Products right now, for what Malarkey is doing. IMHO, what Dick's is doing right now is even worse...
  15. Lemme know what state it is that 18 year olds can buy beer...

    Music Mash Ups

    That's badass! Good find!
  17. They didn't keep their word last time, just did it for support and ratings. Wonder what they're really doing this time?... https://www.forbes.com/sites/clareoconnor/2013/08/20/dicks-sporting-goods-selling-ar-15-rifles-at-outdoor-chain-despite-newtown-ban/#f8b7ebe78094
  18. So, these guys are back at it again, stating that they're now going to stop selling "assault-style rifles." Well, what IS IT with Dick's Sporting Goods? Did you STOP selling these evil rifles after Sandy Hook? Or, were you making headlines back then. If you STOPPED selling them then, how is it that you're going to stop now?... Isn't that already stopped, years ago?... http://www.foxbusiness.com/features/dicks-sporting-goods-to-stop-selling-assault-style-rifles
  19. Three major patterns, DPMS LR-308-based, Armalite AR-10-based, and Rock River LAR-8-based. Minor patterns, as well, that include DPMS GII, PSA PA-10 is different, etc. Advertisers typically don't know the difference, just that it's a "bigger AR." They will misuse the term "AR-10" for everything from BCGs to barrels to you-name-it. Calling it AR-10 means it's for the Armalite pattern. That doesn't mean it's gonna work in your DPMS-based build. Most of the time, it's really a DPMS_based part, and they erroneously called it "AR-10 whatever." Seriously. THAT is the biggest hazard.
  20. ^^^ Sad that might be the reality of the future - we're getting to the point where that might be what's necessary... This is an excellent article, here: http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2018/02/27/nra-just-got-new-member-here-s-why-this-mom-two-joined-group.html
  21. More spring tension on the extractor - that's where they're at, around the spring. Never seen one on an ejector spring before.
  22. Yep, another reason to go Faxon, BA, or Criterion.

  24. Excellent background story on this rifle - you're lucky it even got built!
