  1. Battle Arms Development for the ambi safety - nothing else out there is even worth looking at. Norgon for the mag release. You can use the Troy, but it pivot on the side of the receiver. MechArmor is a 100% class operation, and then some. <thumbsup>
  2. Depending on when he retired, and from what unit, I might know him already. I retired out of Huachuca in '07. <thumbsup>
  3. Shot her in the a$s... <lmao> REALLY?! <laughs>
  4. Phelps WMA has a great range, free, but it's only 100 yards. It's near Sumerduck, and worth the drive. Get there early, as it's first-come basis for a bench. If there are waiters trying to get a bench, shooters are supposed to use their bench for an hour, then pack up and give up the bench. Doesn't always happen, and if you hit the range in the middle of the week, you might be the only one there sometimes. http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/wmas/range_rules.pdf http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/wmas/detail.asp?pid=17
  5. ^^^ That, and they don't meet safety standards established by all those agencies. No side impact protection test results, no test on front end crumple zone bull$hit, yada, yada, yada. They were never tested for any of that BS, because they never had to meet those standards. You know, those standards that save us all every single day... :soap:
  6. Your father in law is NOT allowed to bring that damn 460. NOT ALLOWED. That damn thing is EVIL.
  7. Marana Range. Jon is RangeMaster that day. Early as we wanna make it. He's checking to see if I can park my camper down there, and if so I'll be there sometime Saturday and setup. Dirk, you'd be more than welcome in the camper if you want to. <thumbsup>
  8. Nikon has a special right now (until December 31st) on the M-223, but only in the 3~12x42 BDC-600 scope. It's $160 off, taken off right there at point-of-sale. No receipt to send in, no time waiting for a coupon of check from the company - it's an instant rebate, right there at the register. Typically a $450 MSRP scope, that puts it in your hands under $300. It's one hell of a deal. If it's going on another caliber, you can have Nikon make a custom turret for it for your caliber, projo weight and speed. This scope is a no-brainer if you're looking for good, clear glass in a quality scope. Price can't be beat. I found one last week marked down to $258. Grabbed it. http://www.nikonsportoptics.com/en/Nikon-Products/Riflescopes/M-223-3-12x42SF-BDC-600---------.html
  9. This is no ordinary bipod, brother... <thumbsup>
  10. Found a bunch of different loads here - lots of info: http://www.handloads.com/loaddata/default.asp?Caliber=45-70&Weight=All&type=Rifle&Order=Powder&Source DAMN!!! JACKPOT!!! http://www.loaddata.com/loads/45-70caliberloads.html
  11. You're gonna need the camera, brother. :))

It'll happen, and once it does, there will be a writeup about it. It'll be something like this one: https://armyranger.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=20781 Or these others: https://armyranger.com/bb/viewforum.php?f=70
  13. I'll have to save for that - probably can't get that before this trip coming up. We'll just have to muscle through it and load by hand. We'll keep the projectiles close by. Well, as close as we can, anyway. It'll work alright.

This guy is worth a trip to Philly. Some Ranger will do it - gotta be someone that lives within driving distance, and they'll make the trip.
  15. You're going to have the chance to play with ALOT of stuff, brother. ALOT.
  16. AR-15s/M-16s/M-4 variants aren't like that. They're the cotter-pin-type. The .308 ARs started out with the split-pin setup you've now seen. It was all about manufacturing money, like Fark stated.

***dude didn't realize he was posting in the SI Defense section... <lmao> *** ***clicky, clicky, type, type, type... BAM!!! *** :hethan:
  18. I understand the frustration, man - I really do. Not trying to attack you, so please don't take it that way. Trying to help you here... Can you lock that thing to the rear or not?
  19. Not really - just charge through the brush like a pissed off bear - or a "normal" deer, or a beaver. Maybe like a caveman... Nothing is gonna hang you up, man. Go after it like you mean it... <lmao> They can't stop you. They can only hope to contain you... :hethan:
  20. Mega doesn't put out bad parts. There's no way they made a narrow channel for the charging handle, or made a wide charging handle, and wouldn't catch that before they ship. No way.
  21. Can you lock the bolt to the rear? Fight it back, lock it, lock sticking-charging-handle forward. Load mag. Release bolt catch. Fire weapon repeatedly. Reload with full mag, repeat. That thing will break in sooner or later, without cutting on the charging handle. Shoot it, man, instead of trying to diagnose dragging on new parts on an unfired rifle.
  22. I'm almost there. I'll try lasers first, and have them carve my eyeballs all up. If they can make my eyes glow red like Terminator, then I'm IN!
  23. The charging handle doesn't reciprocate - it'll shoot if your BCG isn't binding.
  24. I'm off next Tuesday. Will relieve you of current situation with lowers that don't sell... <lmao>
