BCG Drags on ammo

Hello all, just built my first ar308 and have an issue with the BCG dragging on the top of the ammo, so much so the bolt wont lock up if there is more than one round loaded in the mag.  I have tried two different mags both pmag one 10rd and one 20 rd.  The lower is an Anderson Rifle and BCG is Aero precision.  What should the next step be?

The bolt carrier dragging on the top round in the mag is normal, if it didn't then the round wouldn't pop up in front of the bolt while cycling to be fed into the chamber.

 

How wet are you running the BCG? The 308 platform seems to need a LOT of oil on the BCG (not the locking lugs) while being broken in. If your BCG isn't dripping wet this could be your problem.

Who makes the upper? You may have an incompatible upper/lower combo

The upper and lower are anderson rifle purchased together as a matching kit.  My BCG is not dripping wet so I will give that a try.

It will take some to break in, and dripping wet is the way to do it. Sometimes more than 200 rounds

So in that case, what would you do ?

 So , you are saying that when more than one round is loaded in the Mag., it will double feed ?

 

  If you have just PMags , use a DPMS or other brand steel mag. 

Rifle could be short stroking . Does the last round in the mag hold/catch the BCG back , after its fired ?

 

Can you manually cycle the action with an empty mag. & it will hold/catch the BCG .

SS, he isn't having feed problems. The way I take it is that his bolt is dragging enough that it's so slow it isn't going completely into battery.

 I would still try a steel mag , just for $hits & giggles . 

 Do you have the correct Buffer spring ? The Buffer spring should strip a round from the mag & force the BCG into battery , even with the slight resistance of a cartridge in the mag..

^^^  Yep.  If it's a new rifle, unfired, then there's alot of parts that still need to mate together.  It would be understandable that things will be dragging on these big heavy things.  <thumbsup>
