bubbasks Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Picked this up for under a bill. Person didnt know if it worked. 1939 Winchester Model 24 12ga. Serial number is in the low 300's How u see it is how I got it. Great workhorse condition. Did a functions check and let off 100 rnds at the 5 stand.pulled it appart and cleaned, oiled and lubed. Very happy with it and aint gonna do a thing but use it. Was missing buttpad so I used a spare leather one I had laying around.
Microgunner Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Great deal. The position of the thumb lever indicates the old girl has a lot of use on her, but I imagine she'll keep going for a while yet.
planeflyer21 Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Awesome find! Great deal. The position of the thumb lever indicates the old girl has a lot of use on her, but I imagine she'll keep going for a while yet. Was going to say the same thing...lots of life left!
bubbasks Posted January 7, 2015 Author Report Posted January 7, 2015 Yeah I noticed that but it unlocks to the right only and sucker locks up tight and not a loose joint or gap on it. Has obvious wear from the left hand on the reliever. Not the most collectible or sought after Winchester so it will stay in the work column until its forced to be a wall hanger.
planeflyer21 Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 That wedge-lock design is flippin' brilliant! Whoever came up with that put some serious thought into something so simple, as to keep the gun operational while experiencing wear. Brilliant.
shepp Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 (edited) Damn bubba nice find!!! Pretty sure you got little ones in the house but that would be i nice wall hanger two throw two in just in case lol "oh that old thing nah just decoration" Edited January 7, 2015 by shepp
