392heminut Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 Just bought one of these from a buddy of mine for $400. It's been mounted on an AR once but never fired! http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Aimpoint-Comp-M4-S-p/aimpoint%20comp%20m4.htm
98Z5V Posted January 30, 2015 Report Posted January 30, 2015 Goddamned great sight, brother. Nice score. <thumbsup>
392heminut Posted January 30, 2015 Author Report Posted January 30, 2015 I didn't know anything about it. My buddy told me "Google it and call me back!" Needless to say, I called him back! <thumbsup>
98Z5V Posted January 31, 2015 Report Posted January 31, 2015 Put in a new battery. Turn your sight on. Don't ever turn your sight off. Change your battery 8 years from now. Yeah, that $hit just happened. <thumbsup>
Robocop1051 Posted January 31, 2015 Report Posted January 31, 2015 Yeah. Gotta love those +50k hour battery life RDS.
98Z5V Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 I still like the EOTech over the Aimpoint, and like the differences between the two. I'm glad Aimpoint has moved to the 2MOA dot over the larger dots. I like the EOTech holograph - that thing will appear in a busted, broken sight window, and the reticle is great, IMHO. I just wish EOTech could master that battery life the way Aimpoint has. 80,000 hours on some models... Both are fantastic brands.
planeflyer21 Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 That's one reason the Nikon Monarch VSD red dot sight is so cool...1, 4, 6, 8, and 10 MOA dot sizes to choose from. At OP right now for $249.
392heminut Posted February 1, 2015 Author Report Posted February 1, 2015 Put in a new battery. Turn your sight on. Don't ever turn your sight off. Change your battery 8 years from now. Yeah, that $hit just happened. <thumbsup> No schit! I can just leave that thing on? And yeah, I'm liking that 2 MOA dot!
98Z5V Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 No schit! I can just leave that thing on? And yeah, I'm liking that 2 MOA dot! Yep, leave it on. 80,000 hours of use from the single AA battery. You can pull 500,000 hours of use from it in the Night Vision settings. No schit... <thumbsup>
Zebra644 Posted February 1, 2015 Report Posted February 1, 2015 Did you see the Daniel Defense Torture test with an Aimpoint Micro on it? I'll put its durability up against an Eo-Tech any day brother
Robocop1051 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Did you see the Daniel Defense Torture test with an Aimpoint Micro on it? I'll put its durability up against an Eo-Tech any day brother That was a serious fuckin test. I saw that rifle at SHOT, and it is completely fucked up. They have that SOB proudly on display... and rightfully so! No one has ever done a test like that since... They've been close, but not to that level of extreme.
Zebra644 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 That's one thing that sold me on running a Daniel Defense with an Aimpoint. I was running a Spikes Billet with a Noveske keymod tube and Daniel Defense barrel. It is a good rifle but that Daniel Defense is better balanced, and like the Spikes with a Daniel Defense barrel, it shoots really really smooth and accurate as hell.
Cali_Ed Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 That's a smoking deal, I'm looking to finish up my 556 build with something like this but no so expensive. Any reccomendations? Sorry for the jack
98Z5V Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Primary Arms micro red dot, 2MOA dot. I haven't been able to kill one yet, and have 5 or 6 of them. $hit, I might have more than that, but I'm not gonna go count them. I'll be getting another one for the 45-70 to try out, and see if that will kill one. I'll be telling Marshall about it up front, and letting him know what I intend to do to it... https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_Arms_s/586.htm Edited February 4, 2015 by 98Z5V
edgecrusher Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I have a couple too. I've run them hard, no issues. That said I still want some aimpoints, but that'll be upgrades. Primary Arms work fine for now.
Robocop1051 Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Holosun optics are surprisingly nice... I bought the PA red dot that 98 is talking about and I actually like the Holosun more. http://www.primaryarms.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=holosun Slightly more than the PA model, but a LOT more bang for your buck.
Cali_Ed Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I was just looking at those after reading Not her thread where brother 98 reccomended them, so u guys have experience with their magnifiers ?
98Z5V Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 The only magnifier I have is a 3x Burris AR Tripler, that I nailed on a $69 sale. Damn sweet magnifier, and that price couldn't be beat, even if it was double that. With PA's reputation, you can't make a mistake picking up their magnifier, brother. Seriously. If you have an issue with it, Marshall will take care of you.
Cali_Ed Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Sweet looks like I know what I'm getting for the beater
98Z5V Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I should be making a commission... <lmao>
Cali_Ed Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Someone should hook up with them and get us a forum discount
Cali_Ed Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Anyone use the vortex strike fire ? Buddy has near new one for 75 bucks Also a bushnell trs25 for 65 Edited February 4, 2015 by Cali_Ed
FaRKle! Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 If you want something more rugged than the PA microdot, Holosun, and Vortex sights, try the Aimpoint PRO or Meprolight Tru Dot RDS.I bought one of the Tru Dot RDS sights during the black friday sale and like it a lot. The battery life is ~2 years (15k-18khrs) at max brightness. It also has an auto-on and off function and integrated QD mount. I like the large window.
Rsquared Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Anyone use the vortex strike fire ? Buddy has near new one for 75 bucks Also a bushnell trs25 for 65 Dancing close to the edge of "The Rule" <laughs>
