I live on a curvy road in the boondocks and it's a favorite road for kids speeding on motorcycles.

Saturday night about 10pm we heard a lone cycle hauling azz towards us then suddenly, nothing.

The rider had left the road hitting our fence shearing off two 6x6 and two 4x4 pressure treated posts.

Our neighbor was the first to get there and call 911.

The bike landed in the field across the street and the rider landed in our neighbor's pasture. Unfortunately, his severed leg landed in the middle of the street.

He was still conscious and trying to talk and get up.

Emergency vehicles arrived including a helicopter that landed in the middle of the street.

They worked on him for quite some time then medi-lifted him out on the helicopter.

He died on the scene.

One or two motorcyclists die every year on our scenic back road. This one was in our front yard though. God bless his family.

Crap. I hate motorcycle crash stories.... Especially with how many hours I put in on one. The age limit for a motorcycle should be raised to 30. I lost a friend of the family in a VERY similar accident.... Too fast in the fog. Riding home from a bar at 2am (toxicology says he was sober). He missed a turn on a country road and went off the road. His chest hit the center, between the handle bars, and the coroner believes that impact severed the arteries from his heart. The bike disintegrated on impact and left our friend crumpled next to a ranchers driveway... he was discovered 4 or 5 hours later.

I can't even count how many times I've stared my maker in the eyes while riding... Good thing he doesn't want me yet.

<---------- as you can see, I'm a motorcyclist as well, but this one got traded in for a brand spankin new 14 Street Glide Peace Officer Special Edition. Its a dangerously awesome freedom that is as addicting as breathing. I hate the winter months in Ohio. I think when it's your time, it's your time just don't do anything to speed it along. Most of the bike crashes I have been to are due to alcohol as per toxicology.

most of my friends ride. almost every one of them has been hit. you could build a good sized monument with all the pins and rods and junked bikes between them. way too many old people in this town for me to even consider it.

Just spoke with the FHP.

The guy was riding a 2006 Yamaha and left over 400 feet of skid marks before he left the road.

They estimate his speed was well into triple digits.

They needed property damage information for the report.

My best friend had his foot severed at the ankle later in they took 6" of his shin so it would be possible for him to have a prostatic, he was hit head on by a car crossing the center line in a corner. Figure his foot was caught in the wheel well also snapping his femur and then caved the A pillar in with his shoulder braking his clavicle and ripping thru his moto GP grade leather jacket he was given while performing in China. Two things saved his life his helmet and a doctor whom missed the golf course and came upon the accident and tied off his leg with his belt. Ryan wears the guys belt often and has searched for the man with no luck......

Btw he broke the worlds fastest wheelie on ice this weekend @ 117.5mph

Sadly Ive lost more friends than I can think of on motorcycles and most were struck by someone

Self-imposed that limit on myself and glad I did.  My buddy used to be a driving instructor in Europe and feels we should have graduated motocycle licenses, as they do there.  250cc, 500cc, 750cc and higher.  Makes sense.

I was averaging 150 miles per day in the valley here (250+max).  Cars are the enemy...stay away.  Ride like everyone who drives is blind...because they are and that's how they drive.

Damn thats hard to hear , but heard too often .

As long as there are motorcycles , there will be accidents & speed kills , I learned it very early riding . Didn't stop me from going fast Bar hopping though , glad I made it through that phase.
