blue109 Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 http://m.imgur.com/gallery/3kabN Pretty cool. I would have guessed it slower than an AR.
blue109 Posted June 17, 2015 Author Report Posted June 17, 2015 And...OUCH http://m.imgur.com/gallery/BLIlJ
survivalshop Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 Is the AR a 308 or 5.56 ? Is that someone purposely putting their finger in there to show how it gets pinched ? I was taught correctly on how to work the M1's action before I had a chance to get M1 Thumb . <thumbsup>
Rsquared Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 Me too. I was taught initially all about Garand thumb....and how to avoid it. And I can't imagine someone intentionally slamming their finger in the action like that. But......if you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough. <laughs>
unforgiven Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 Great link brother, love that rifle. It's not the pic of the thumb that's interesting,it's the look on the persons face.Mine was like this  after 2 minutes of intro.Up to that point the only thing I knew about the rifle was what I saw in the movies.
Toolndie7 Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 That girl is fast. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
mrmackc Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 (edited) Very smooth rapid fire semi-auto. I think one of the key features is the 5/8" of slack that lets the operating rod to get up to speed before touching the bolt. Fail to feed, fire or extract-eject was extremely rare and was usually shooter error to make sure he didn't have a"long round" or fail to clean and lube properly I love that old rifle, so much that just recently gave mine to my son along with a full ammo box of LC 1962 .30 ball IN BANDOLEARS Of enblocs as issued at Camp Perry for Rattle Battle. Rattle Battle was a fun type team match for us old codgers. Edited June 18, 2015 by mrmackc
