planeflyer21
I think there is alot of truth to this statement no matter what side of the fence you are on “Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.” Rick Warren Yup.

jtallen83
Thought just struck me. Wonder if they will use this to come down heavier on the states legalizing weed? Had a similar discussion with my 70 year old Mother today, she is worried that everyone will be stoned now. I told her not to worry, most people are already chemically altered one way or another......... It would seem to me if a state must recognize another states marriage licenses then they would have to recognize medical pot cards? ????? The feds will push for more pot use. The AG already told fed prosecutors to lay off the weed charges. The FIRST thing I was told when made a federal employee was "We don't do UA's here." A federalized police force will be just around the corner, we can't expect states to protect citizen rights they don't agree with can we? ??? ??? GRA
Federalized police force ... interesting point. Actually Nixon tried to create such a thing back in his day. He created the Federal Protective Service to over the federal buildings and leased properties throughout the country as an answer to having one jurisdictional force to deal federally / equally with all the Vietnam-era demonstrations going on back then. Theoretically, these cops were to have expanded through the years to include traffic enforcement on the federal interstates (obviously to collect fines and other revenues for the federal guvmint), across the board deputization in multiple jurisdictions for national emergencies, etc., but this was viewed as unconstitutional. Clinton later tried to get rid of FPS (under GSA) stating they were unnecessary duplication of the local police. The Oklahoma City bombing stopped this from happening. The FPS still exists but is now under Homeland Security. Until presently they are reclassified as "inspectors" with law enforcement powers. Along with FEMA, this agency can be changed very easily. I think the Anointed One has picked up on this original Nixon idea somehow and is trying to run with it. If he can nationalize the police and place them all under his control he will be able to dominate all peacekeeping efforts. We can only imagine how this will play out in the various courts. After what the SCOTUS has just handed us recently, this is more than a nightmare.
EngrBob
The real issue is whether or not the 10th Amendment has any meaning or whether SCOTUS has virtually eliminated it. The issue of the effects of gay marriage and parenting can be debated forever, and tend to be emotional rather than rational arguments. While I don't have any particular concern what others may do in their bedrooms, having been married to a clinical psychologist for 38 years, who has specialized in children and adolescents, there is research indicating that same sex "parents" do create issues for children, but then so does having both parents work. The idea of a federal government assuming powers not specifically granted by the Constitution is very frightening and what we should be most concerned with. :ugone2far:
planeflyer21
Like Mark Twain said, "We spend the first 21 years of our lives growing up, and the rest of it recovering." Touchy-feely will be enforced, individualism waning and whims going where the majority or the puppet masters want.
Magwa
Gay marriage serves no purpose none zero.... it is a political ploy to again make waves I have no issues with gay people, i do not care what they do in their own homes I do care what they do in public in front of children I do not believe that their lifestyle is a good one to tell kids it is normal it is not normal it is different and in this country different is ok except when it bothers or infringes on other people and thier beliefs... live together , be happy but you will never be married no matter what the paper says! Marrige is one man and one woman IMO.
