Robocop1051 Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 We are trying to raffle off some cool prizes, but not entirely sure how to go about it????? Anyone have any experience with hosting an online raffle/lotto?

Malig8r Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Couldn't you just ask people to pick numbers between x & y then use a random number generator for each one. Closest gets the prize?
GreyGoose Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 (edited) We used to have them pretty regularly on the podcast.People mailed in their check, or paid via paypal and were then entered in the drawing, the list of entries was posted on the website with some letters redacted as to protect privacy. We had one guy pull 5 names and laid them out randomly from left to right, and another guy would draw a card from a deck of cards with only the 1-5 cards in it, and that number was then counted from left to right and that lucky cat would be the winner. Was fun and we had a lot of participation, and the sponsors got involved and it grew pretty quick into some great items and a great thing for the podcast. The drawing process seems a bit over the top at first blush, but it alleviated anxiety for those who were certain there was foul play afoot. ;-) Edited August 24, 2015 by GreyGoose
jtallen83 Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 I won a Viridian laser on a raffle at the 10T site. They had a points system going and we turned in points for raffle chances. There were points for posts, thank yous, referrals, ect. The upside was those that contributed the most had the best chance, downside was newer members were pretty much left out so the new members that showed up for the raffle didn't stick around..There are lots of random number generator programs out there both for assigning numbers and drawing them.I like the "like" system when it gives the people that put time into the site to help others the best shot at a prize, that is good for the vendors as well because those are the guys that are more likely to post a review of the product.
