Sisco Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 Any one ever try setting up a 45 degree offset red dot? I have seen some pics of them in 3 gun matches. I currently have 45 degree of set BUIS. Dont really like it, as the front sight snags on everything. Thinking maybe a mini red dot might work better for back up. As I have two sizeable scopes on my 308 AR's. Any thoughts? And yes, I will follow the rule if necessary.
blue109 Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 Used a few like that. Had my little armasite reflex on my 18" 308 and a PA reflex on a scoped AR. cool setup and very functional. Just sort of roll the gun in and it's right there. Probably faster to acquire than lining up irons. If funds were unlimited, I'd probably go with the RMR that doesn't use batteries so it's always on.
Robocop1051 Posted October 22, 2015 Report Posted October 22, 2015 We put one on the .338lm to pair with the 5-25x glass on top. Makes for very fast sub-100 engagements. JP makes a nice offset iron set. Surely less likely to snag that normal irons.I'm hoping to get a Leupold deltapoint-pro... if they ever hit the market.
Sisco Posted October 22, 2015 Author Report Posted October 22, 2015 Thanks guys, good input. Think I will try it with an el cheapo I have in the back of the safe. If it works I will pick up that Primary arms micro dot.
shibiwan Posted October 23, 2015 Report Posted October 23, 2015 I use a Burris Fastfire III on my 308
MLC Posted October 23, 2015 Report Posted October 23, 2015 I have a Leupold deltapoint in a Burkett offset mount on my AR-15. It's good for the quick, close range stuff.
Sisco Posted October 27, 2015 Author Report Posted October 27, 2015 Going with an offset on my AR10 rifle. The AR10T carbine has a Burris one piece scope mount with rails on the rings, so I will put a mini dot like the fast fire up there. Will post pics in a couple of days. Thanks again guys. Part of the problem is I am a lefty and my son is right handed, so I have to chose which one to set it up for.
shepp Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 I've got an offset fast fire I want to put on my ar15 just never sighted it in. I've got glass on it for 100-400yards I'd like the fast fire for >100 yards

Get one of these and put one on each side. Problem solved!http://warnescopemounts.com/product/ramp30tw-team-warne-30mm-tactical-1-pc-black/
Sisco Posted October 27, 2015 Author Report Posted October 27, 2015 That would work, but I might end up like this guy if I had to choose between three optics. I decided I am going to set it up for my son. Because of a lens deformity I have to adjust the scope differently than he does, so I leave it for him to shoot most the time.

blue109 Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) Wouldn't the 75 and 100 yd zeros be pretty much on top of each other? I had mine zerod at 50 on the 5.56 gun.I had one of those Warne mounts. Very cool little mount and worked well. My PA reflex was a little low and the scope I was using had big target knobs, to the win knob interfered a little with the window, but not enough to obscure the target. shepp Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 I'll mount mine and take some pictures when I get home I should try sighting it in next week

At 100, I find the red dot (or in this case, green dot) pretty accurate. I will have to play around with it a bit
Sisco Posted October 27, 2015 Author Report Posted October 27, 2015 This is the setup for my AR10T carbine. Have to get another sight for the rifle before I can post.
shepp Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 (edited) Fast fire III on MWI 45* mount, I like how it feels good now I just gotta shoot it Edited October 27, 2015 by shepp
Sisco Posted October 28, 2015 Author Report Posted October 28, 2015 (edited) That is exactly how I am going to set up my Standard AR10B rifle.By the way you should have a good bead on that crock pot or rice cooker, or whatever it is at the end of the counter. Edited October 28, 2015 by Sisco
blue109 Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 I found I liked the reflex mounted up on the float tube by the end of the receiver.

blue109 Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 Just seemed easier to align everything with the longer eye relief. Just roll the gun and it was right there. No hunting around for the dot like I sometimes would have to do with it at the rear of the rail. That RDS was cowitness height, so a sight with a short base like a FF might not work without a riser.

Sisco Posted October 28, 2015 Author Report Posted October 28, 2015 I have a gas block adapter, so if I want I could mount it up there as well. Now you got me thinking Blue, and that is a dangerous thing.
blue109 Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 Worth a shot at least. Doesn't hurt to look. Here's the same gun with my PA reflex. It worked, but I didn't like it as much. It sat a little low and I had to adjust my cheek position. The other one was perfect and didn't require me to move my head at all. My phone is being slow so sorry if this posts 5 times lol
shepp Posted October 28, 2015 Report Posted October 28, 2015 Moved it to the front side of the scope mount it does seem easier to pick up thanks blue!
Sisco Posted October 29, 2015 Author Report Posted October 29, 2015 This topic has turned out to be a good excuse for some gun porn. Always nice to look at.
