Tomorrow on lunch I am calling them. Saturday, I may be making a retail store visit to pick up that mega ambi set. I have that much cash in my hand. Thank you all for the heads up. Hopefully, they do not sell out before Saturday. I have gotten a bunch of stuff from them ! +
308lrnewb
Thank you everyone. Oh, Survivalshop ... We just hit four pages and.. I am likely decided on a receiver set. So long as it remains in inventory. Hoping to hear good news tomorrow.
mjg
I would second (or third or fourth) Mega - I just purchased the Mega Arms Maten MML M-LOK Ambi 16" set and love the quality of the product. They are hard to find - but well worth it in my opinion.

308lrnewb
Well, JSE has my order in processing for the ambi upper/lower set. If they are quick enough, I may pick it up tomorrow. If not, I will be getting it next weekend. While not the special handguard unit.. was leaning to the SLR ultralite keymod 16" guard. I was able to get one of the last two receiver sets they had in stock. Last night at 9pm central.. they had ten. Woah! Guess the building process has begun. Eventually will have some photographs. Again, I appreciate all the help and guidance!!

MikedaddyH
He stated local pickup. My last two were 6 hours then 2 days, ATF are very very busy !!!
mjg
Yeah I guess I don't understand that. I just lot a lower for JSE shipped to my local FFL and walked away with it the day I arrived. Ohio is pretty flexible - is it because of State laws?
MikedaddyH
I would say Friday or Saturday are high sales days that's the reason from the delay.
308lrnewb
Well, the lady at the phone with JSE this morning said to anticipate 15-20 minutes. Sometimes, ten. I am getting there around the time doors open. Will be damned if I drive four hours one way to get told 'come back later'. No sir. I already passed a check last year, have had zero infractions - moving violations or otherwise since. Better be no issues! Yea, you all are REAL good at spending my money. I fully intend to throw up a picture or two tomorrow. Just the receiver sets but still..
MikedaddyH
ATF works faster in Missouri than it does any where else in the country .lol !
308lrnewb
When I bought my colt 1911 about ten months back.. the process literally took less then fifteen minutes. Maybe you just fit the no fly classification during initial screening!! Ever lived in Chicago?
308lrnewb
So.. I drove four hours plus change to JSE... The staff is AMAZING there!!!!! Top tier, A++ people. Turns out, it is family owned. Well... .......... ........... Bad news.. I played with the ambi standard maten set.. then, while filing the FFL paperwork.... ............ I ask politely to fondle the 5.56 maten special upper sitting on the shelf beneath my paperwork. At this point I begin socializing with the lady checking me out. Turns out, they have this extended rifle length MKM Maten.. And.. Long story short --- Ohyea, MikedaddyH - move to a better state or stop breaking the damn law! My FFL paperwork was sub ten minutes. So wait a sec you got the Ma ten mkm and not the 556 you were just fondling ? I saw they had a couple of the mkm's but i didnt say anything bout them...last time I talked someone into one of those his ol lady came after me lol Wash
MikedaddyH
Glad you got a new toy . Its not me its the ffl. Some are busy. I have gotten some under 8 minutes.
308lrnewb
That is the MATEN. I mentioned 'oh man.. sure wish you had one of these in the maten and not this poodle shooting five-five-six...' "oh, we do. I have a rifle length and an extended rifle length in the back." 'are you sure, i looked for a little while just two nights ago. saw everything was m-lok and out of stock. no single uppers and separate lowers, no kits..' "let me go check, but i am certain.. *click click* inventory says we have one here in the building" She walked off.. came back with a quite dusty arsed box. It came home with me. I think it was maybe Gwen? I could describe her physical form. Nice lady. I would say mid to late forties. Graying blonde hair. Sweet as could be. So, I broke my bank.. followed the advice and took a hit to my wallet in views of 'when will i see one of these again?' I really wanted this set when I first started getting into the AR10/308 build idea. About a year back. Brushed it off.. Saw one today and, well.. Now I am eating cans of tuna and pasta salads again for a month. Next is a non-adjustable nitride gas block and tube from SLR, nitride hybrid contour criterion barrel and a heavy buffer. Mega recommends the rubber city bolt carrier.. Thinking I am going to use the dwilson bolt carrier in nitride with the rubber city high pressure bolt and JP one piece gas ring. Will be checking headspace, hope everything comes out well. I hate the nickel boron. No judgement please. The plan is black on black with non-symmetrical urban gray cerakoting for breakup. Then, I can use a gillie style cloth wrap for matching season and have 'depth' to the breakup. Besides, I have heard nitride finish is actually pretty decent. Opting for the non-adjusting block due to simplicity and 'adaptive' nature to different loads. Compromises. *shrug* The receiver set is so darn tight, I have to really pull it apart. Can push it together and shake it hard with out the pins in place. Still will not come apart. Plus, I sure like the aesthetics; deflector pad and all. Thank you guys for riding my back side about putting up or shutting up. Even though I will be needing a belt after this tuna and pasta diet takes hold! 308lrnewb
holy hells! Shepp will consult me out of a month of spending money into this hole! That whole receiver kit is actually pretty light. Handguard... Is REAL nice. When I saw the box open... I thought "oh poop.. there goes my savings". The feel just as a receiver kit and MIAD gen 1.1 pistol grip.. feels good. Are the KNS "match grade" .154" trigger/hammer pins worth the $6 they run, over a $4 pin set from dpms? Looking so far to be a parts roster of: Dwilson bolt carrier + rubber city high pressure bolt + jp one piece gas ring Slash heavy buffer - rifle length SLR non adjustable nitride gas block + nitride rifle length gas tube Criterion hybrid contour 18" stainless nitride barrel BAD CAS short throw Hiperfire 24 3G trigger Thinking I want the LMT back up sights. They are pricey! But... Being I am going to be running heavy metal limited for a year or two before affording a good 1-6 power first focal plane lens.. Any free consultations or chime ins?? washguy
Whoa whoa. You are gonna put an a2 rifle butt on this nice unit ? And a heavy azz buffer? Slow down snoopy Wash Edited July 24, 2016 by washguy
blue109
Ignore the haters...A2 stocks are awesome ( I prefer A1), but I'd skip the Heavy buffer And just run standard. I'd probably skip the one piece rings and just use what comes on the bolt.
