MICRO SLICK COATING?

So been doing some reading on different coatings. Im interested in the coatings cause it can help with the cleanings and no worrying about needing enough oil in gun. Does anyone know if Micro Slick is the same as DSL like the army is using? If so is there s DIY kit to buy?

Not really the answer to your question but some companies sell stuff coated in it. Year and a half or so ago I bought any ares BCG that has a coating on it because my 556 seemed like it would bind up after awhile, after I swapped bolts it seems to be problem solved

Yea i seen that you can send your parts that you want the coating to be done on. Also reviews seem to be very beneficial once done on every aspect of the BCG and Upper.

I got a buddy with one, says he hasn't had any problems with it functioning. I contacted them though about their treatment to see if it protects against moisture that causes rust, they never gave me a straight answer. Considering I am surrounded by swamp land and it is often very humid, rust is a big deal for me. So still would have to keep it somewhat lubed anyways, even in storage to keep it from rusting. But might work for you if you are interested.

Ar...nope just good ol lube....but on the barrel.. receiver..and every handgun ...every weapon in my bunker has a coating.....   Wash

what do you use for lube? everyone I know uses rem oil and I hate the stuff. I've tried several types but so far I like gold old CLP best.

anything but rem oil...im not a fan of it....good ol clp is my fav and  mpro 7 sometimes     Wash

does mpro7 make a lubricant? I've always just used their cleaner, which wasn't bad but also didn't blow me away either.

Sounds almost identical to micro slick or the Anderson rifles.

I spoke with Anderson rifles. They told me they dont do coatings for people's parts or rifles. You can buy an R85 Treated rifle from them.

Yea thats nice stuff. My neighbor has nibx coated BCG from Aero. Nice bcg! You still need to run a little oil as recommended, granted he was told there is plenty of people that run them dry. Not sure how i feel about that.

Mobil one synthetic oil 30 wt just soak all your parts in the stuff after a while the metal simply will not take any more and stays slick easy to clean,since it bonds with metal easy to do and works the bcg, after soaking for a couple weeks is really great everything moves like it is on ball bearings...

Never heard of that one. Magwa have you done this yourself? Sounds like a cheap alternative and great if it works. 

 But i have seen videos where people have done micro slick just on the BCG and they say it feels like its riding on ball bearings. They say if you have the BCG, inside of upper and charging handle done its so smooth there is almost no friction

I've not done the Mobil 1 trick but there sure is a LOT of people swearing by it, all over internet gun forums, from black powder to semi-auto "battle rifles".

I use mobile one also. When amsoil sponsored us I had spent a lot of time at shows with our rep and heard numerous stories of motors losing oil and still running because of how the molecules fill in the pores of the metal forming a barrier between metals. Imo amsoil is far above Mobil one, but it's the same concept and one of the reasons after you run syn. Your not suppose to go back to standard.

Shepp what is your maintenance like on your guns that you run Mobil1? Any better then running CLP?

I clean my firearms everytime i get done shooting . if i can cut down on cleaning times and potentially have a firearm that more reliable in the field then its worth it to me

Works great for protecting the finish of your weapon...been using it for a long time on some pricey pistolas that never see daylight     and on carry guns too....its a dry film that you can see go into surface then come back and buff or not....anodizing on the ar's love this stuff....as for the bcg a little lube will do     I guess ive been using this for over 10 years at least...buy the refill bottle while you buy the pkg cloth ive got 2 cloths and have almost used half a bottle in 10 years...lol       Wash

FWIW I use CLP on my parts. Use on my Aero NickBor BCG . Was an article where they mention trans fluid for BCG lube. Just my 2 mags.
