If I understand the page it's a standard Trijicon front post that you need to purchase seprately. How does the $$ work out combined with the cost of the MBUS?

I just went into my box-o-tricks and pulled out a spare rear aperture. I see no reason why a mil-spec sight can't be used to replace the Magpul aperture.

Now I'm thinking of doing a full tritium set. It's a lot cheaper than Troy.

I checked other websites and found a bunch of nay-sayers... Although none have actually tried to make it work. We could be ground breakers on this!

I'm looking at my contacts and resources. I found that I can get a complete set of Magpul MBUS (any color) Gen 2 and combine them with a complete set of Ameriglo 3-dot tritium sights...

For under $200, shipped!!!!

Troy can't beat that price.

It doesn't get any easier than this! Just got the parts in from Brownells.

Magpul front sight $30

Trijicon front sight post $50

First one to post pictures $Priceless.

It took only seconds to replace. Zero complications.

Great job, Robo.

Just a heads up...

I was looking at the design of the Trijicon and the differences between gen1 and gen2 MBUS's. The Trijicon post won't work as well in a gen1.

The post is actually two pieces. The bottom screws down to the level you need to sight in, then the top part spins freely to align the tritium.

The gen1 MBUS doesn't have a front sight lock. Without that little plunger, the top may spin after each shot.

If anyone plans on doing this modification, I strongly recommend the gen2 MBUS as a base.

Sure it does, brother - those long and short roll pins that are included with the Gen 1 are exactly for locking the post into position once you get it set.  <thumbsup>
