Pistol vs Carbine

Belt fed has a point. But another thing to consider, my Radical Arms 308 Blk came with a 16 inch barrel,, but is a pistol length gas system. And indeed, I shoot it suppressed with a non-adjsutable gas block with absolutely no problem with many different loads. I think that for 300 Blk the pistol length gas system might indeed give you a bit more flexibility.

No need for a 16 inch unless you want the rifle classification. The new braces are pretty much stocks, they do all the same things. The length loses advantage much past 10 inches. Pistol length gas will help with reliability for unsuppressed subs, I started with an adjustable block on a 10.5 inch pistol gas barrel, ended up with a standard block that works fine with everything.

i have this also both supressed non adj gas block. fires with subs or Sonics.

the 10.5" usta be an 8" barrel with standard gasblock. shot fine aswell, just need more length to fit the can.

Quick question fellers. I got my boss talked into building a 300 Blk. I see 2 options for gas length. I'm guessing pistol would be best if he planned to suppress it? Any pointers on building it? Gonna go with a 16" pipe. Thanks in advance!

Even though this came from CMMG, it's pretty accurate.  Build based off this:

Thank you gentlemen! I do believe the carbine would suit him best.

On a side note, I started working at this place about 8 months ago and now have 4 guys that knew nothing about AR's, owning and wanting to building their own.

I'd say the "enabler" training I recieved here has paid off.

I think a carbine would be a much more enjoyable experience if he is new to the AR platform. He can do more with it like scopes and being able to shoot farther with more accuracy.  My pistol is fine for about 25 to 50 yards, beyond that it sucks. it has a 10.5 barrel. plus you can't shoot the damn thing without ear protection. now target shooting that's fine, I don't want to wear any hunting. I originally bought it to use as a home defense gun. after firing it I can't imagine shooting it in an enclosed building without hearing protection.. Guess a forward blast muzzle device would help.

Easy solution, SDN-6! I had no interest in a 300 BO until suppressors became legal in Iowa, building the third one now. We have no problem whacking a 12 inch gong at 100 yards, betting a 6 inch would rarely see a miss and this is with red dots and irons.

I second the suppressor.  My home defense is an 10.5" SBR with a suppressor.   I can easily shoot 2 moa at a 100 yds with subsonic rounds..
