I'd go more to the higher side of that range, if it was mine, and I've done that in the past, and it works. Go big, and it won't disappoint you. Check what you have, and punch it up. Excellent, thank you! The last part I’m waiting on is the gas tube which is arriving today. I will triple check the port size while it’s back open and go from there. Much appreciated, thanks again
britx303
Gas tube arrived and on it .Brought it up right where you guys are saying it needs to end in regards to the cam recess. Port hole...........the first drill bit to NOT enter is a .093, but the previous at .082 fit easily........so im between those dimensions which seems close enough to test out. So at this point I now have a 5.1oz+ buffer, orange spring, new mags that will now dry feed fine as opposed to not like before, and the gas tube that brought me up where I should be. Grabbing everything and heading to the range now..................
britx303
Runs perfect now and with the Hexmag!!! Doesn’t feed right with the ASC or Pmag, so quickly tossed those 2 aside and continued with the Hex for 60 or so more rounds with Zero issues other than ran out of ammo and moved on to a new 556 we just did and needed sighting in. The wife loved shooting the 308 too!!!! Bonus. Thank all y’all for getting me sorted!!!! It’s appreciated!!!!
unforgiven
Great job getting the rifle going brother, maybe you run a few more rounds through it you can revisit those mags. 🍺🍺

But going to also go ahead and order a couple more Hexmags in the meantime since it fed it so well. I am happy happy happy right now. Iron sights worked great too, as we dont have any type of optic on it. But even 100 yard shots, we were able to easily pick off 4-6" white rocks that were down range...........we got there when range was hot, but had a few open lanes to pick from.........I didnt want to call COLD to setup a target, so figured just function test it while everyone else was still shooting, and the rocks were a visual to focus on, but ended up being more fun than hole punching paper anyways. Once range went COLD, we had run through all the 308 we brought, so then setup a proper target to sight in the new 556. All in all, a great day at the range and better than any day at work, even if we were there under an hour. Mission accomplished.

Yeeeeaaahh Buddy……it may be cheap girl, but damn is she fun. I gotta admit I found myself browsing online today looking at parts to start another or just a complete one. Just window shopping, but I do want a 2nd 308 within a year or less. Might give in and just buy one. The 1st 308 that had me deciding I really wanted one was a Windham that was at a mom n’pop shop on the eastern shore, a year and a half ago in the height of the COVID mess, so passed on it stupidly. But it’s kind of haunted me since.I’m assuming Windhams are a reputable brand??. The price tag said so…….😅

That is good to hear, as I really liked that one and when the time comes I may just go for it. Still some time down the road before next big purchase like that……..which for the sake of my bank account that’s a good thing😇

britx303
Just an update on my sit-chee-ation.......BCA did finally email me back to address the incorrect gas tube, and sent tracking for the correct length tube that they sent out today. Yeah, I took care of it already, but glad they did get around to trying to correct it. Now ive got to check 2 of my friends 308 uppers that I recommended to them to try the BCA out, when I was still in the middle of mine............Already broke the news they now need the 5.3+oz buffer and the orange spring...........but at least they got the forewarning I was still in the beginning phases of learning the 308's myself
britx303
nevermind............they sent the same size wrong tube.

Bear creek arsenal took too long to respond to my emails so ordered it myself elsewhere. I was trying to give BCA credit for finally addressing my complaint and sending out a new tube……..but so much for that. I gave them the dimensions they installed and gave them the dimension I needed but they still sent the short tube that was wrong in the first place. Brandonc74
Hey, so all my friends and family are "old school" and know little/nothing about modern stuff so internet is the only place I have to get information. Bca upper and carbine buffer, aero precision m5 lower. .308/7.62 NATO.. So, this thing is oddly predictable in its failures. I strip, clean and lube it. Then, I fire it. Totally reliable. SOMETIMES I'll rock n roll and have fun with the binary but that just burns money and wastes ammo. Has no effect on reliability, i even reinstalled original trigger... same pattern, unchanged. Gun will cycle every bit as fast as my finger can move/as fast as the gun rattles in "binary mode" After shooting, I strip and clean, followed by lube. Then, I fire it. Roughly 50/50 ftf/fte rate. Absolutely .awful! Clean and lube. Reliable. Clean and lube. Hunk of poop. Clean and lube. Reliable. One then the other, over and over and I'm at a loss. I've even recorded myself servicing/firing it and compared, to see if I am doing something different every other time, and nothing. only meaningful difference I saw was how soon I shot after scrub and lube.. changed up and made that consistent, no change. Please start your own thread about your gun. Please search the Waterboarding thread and read that. Then list all the info the waterboarding thread asks for. There is no way to help you fix your gun without the exact info of your build. These guns are not milspec.. you can't just buy parts and throw them together and expect them to work without a ton of research.
