Hell yeah, I don't use a scope on mine but when I lob them out there it can be cool as hell if the suns right. keep us posted on this
Lane Posted February 17, 2022 Report Posted February 17, 2022 Have to admit being curious about... A subsonic 300 Blackout load; into what barrel? How purpose built is this gun for 300 Blackout to 1,000 yards?
JBMatt Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 16" Ballistic Advantage, suppressed. Nothing too fancy, but not junk, either. Not ideal, but not impossible.
Lane Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 Thanks for the update. Being a NY resident; I can't even talk about suppressed. What's the twist? You are hitting them point first?
JBMatt Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 I think it's a 1:7 twist. Fast enough that I think this idea would be possible. I'm sure they'll be coming down point first, but I'm pretty positive they'll be coming in like a lawn dart!
DNP Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 I was thinking you might have to lay the target flat on the ground to have a better chance of hitting it. What does the ballistics chart look like for this round?
JBMatt Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 Ha! You're probably right. That's why those balloons in the video were such a great idea. My rough calculations show that I'll likely need 50 MILS of adjustment. At that trajectory, the bullet hits the apex at around 145 ft or so. That's a long ways up to come down accurately. That's over twice as high as the same bullet apex's out of my 300 WM when shooting at a mile. That's only about 65 ft.
unforgiven Posted February 18, 2022 Report Posted February 18, 2022 Amazing and a great way to explain trajectory. 😁

I cold-bored that Win Mag Mile - you should be able to pull this off with the 300BLK at 1k yards... I'm just sayin'... Edited February 19, 2022 by 98Z5V
98Z5V Posted February 19, 2022 Author Report Posted February 19, 2022 (edited) @JBMatt, Todd bought a Savage bad-to-the-bone .338 Lapua bolt gun - he wants to hit the Mile BAD... His Win Mag wouldn't do it (poor choice on projectile selection), so we'll be dealing with a .338 Lapua at Spring Shoot. Interested in an over-and-under on whether we hit before he does?...
