6132expert Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Ok I now have a new DPMS 16 inch 762 marked sport barrel on the way..... great deal on it I might add. What do you guys suggest for the gas block? It must be a low pro due to the 13.8 troy rail. Does anyone make a low pro ajustable?
imschur Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Brownells sells the PRI but it's out of stock at the time of this post. Can probably find it at the usual places
edgecrusher Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 in stock at rainier armshttp://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=966
6132expert Posted February 11, 2012 Author Report Posted February 11, 2012 OK so you guys know this barrel is a .750 at the gas block. Also do yall know what gas tube lenght it is. I am buying it from an indivisual but I can not seem to find much info on it on the net.
98Z5V Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 Which 13.8" Troy rail are you running? We just had a problem with the Troy TRX and the PRI adjustable...
edgecrusher Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 i didn't actually know, i just posted the link. i can help more if you disclose more details
Robocop1051 Posted February 12, 2012 Report Posted February 12, 2012 VLTOR makes a low pro gb as well. It's not adjustable though.
6132expert Posted February 12, 2012 Author Report Posted February 12, 2012 It is a Troy MRF-308 rail. What was the problem?
98Z5V Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 The TRX rail for the .308 was slightly too small in inner diameter, and wouldn't clear the hump on the PRI at the adjustment part. You can stuff anything under the MRF-308 - I'm running that one on my .308. <thumbsup>Edited, for correction - the TRX skinny-rail info... MRF is still good. <thumbsup>
6132expert Posted February 13, 2012 Author Report Posted February 13, 2012 Sweet I will be ordering the PRI and gas tube and pin tonight! Is there any difference in a BCG for 7.62 and 308?
98Z5V Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 Is there any difference in a BCG for 7.62 and 308?BCG? Nope, no difference between 7.62x51 and .308 Win BCGs for these. Just make sure you're getting a DPMS bolt with it, for your (current) DPMS barrel/extension.
6132expert Posted February 13, 2012 Author Report Posted February 13, 2012 The guy has the BCG, but he wants a new price on it. The barrel he says has only had ruffly 50 rounds through it, so is a new bolt going to matter or should I really get the one he had in the extention?
98Z5V Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 With such a small round count, it really wouldn't matter. Just make sure it's a DPMS-type bolt since it's going into a DPMS barrel extension.
6132expert Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 Will do for sure. Has SI released their .308 BCG?
98Z5V Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 Will do for sure. Has SI released their .308 BCG?I think the only person they've ever sent one to was Matt Cross... <lmao>
imschur Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 I think the only person they've ever sent one to was Matt Cross... <lmao> Well I think it counts twice because he had to send it back because it wasnt right.
Matt.Cross Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 I think the only person they've ever sent one to was Matt Cross... <lmao>I gotta tell ya, this one-off they sent me is really nice. If I'd been thinking, I would've had it serialized so I had number 1 of 1 shipped. <laughs> <lmao>Well I think it counts twice because he had to send it back because it wasnt right. No, that would be the Young Mfg bolt carrier....I gotta say though, my one-off isn't particularly impressive. It's machined in such a manner as to override the bolt catch on the last round out of the magazine, and that aggravates the crap out of me because now I gotta buy a chamber indicator for the range.
Robocop1051 Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 Oh did I forget tell you guys???? SI-D called and said they finished my NiB bolt. I had them ship it and a NiB barrel extention directly to my barrel maker. Barrel guy confirmed the bolt made it to their shop.

Are you talking about the SI or the Young's ?
Matt.Cross Posted February 14, 2012 Report Posted February 14, 2012 I was referring to the SI carrier, the front portion is angled off in such a manner as to override the bolt stop on it's way into battery.
6132expert Posted February 14, 2012 Author Report Posted February 14, 2012 MAAAN,you anit kiddin! Its all good. <thumbsup>
6132expert Posted February 15, 2012 Author Report Posted February 15, 2012 Two more questions. When ordering a new gas tube does it come with the roll pin to attach it to the gas block or does the gas block come with this? Also are an AR-15 and .308 gas tubes one in the same? Also what happened to the damn spell checker?
imschur Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 I cant recall a pin coming with either part on any of my orders. I order a pin. Yes they are the same.Spell check isnt installed on this server. If you use Internet Explorer download ispell. For firefox dowload after the deadline. Both will correct your spelling everywhere on the web rather than just here.
