He was taking a nap when he heard a sound in his house. The officer brought his gun downstairs with him and confronted the subject. The burglar made a motion to throw a rock at the homeowner, so he shot him in the head, according to police at the scene."He was yelling some commands and challenging him when the burglar in this case turned toward him with the rock... at which time the homeowner fired one round, struck the subject in the head, and the subject went down," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump. The Tolleson police officer administered aid and immediately called 911.The suspect is described as a young black male, possibly in his teens. He apparently got in by breaking a window.Neighbor Manuel Ohton says he'll be more careful now."I've slept with my garage open. I've forgot to close it. Somebody could really have access to the house, going in through the garage, you know," he said.No names have been released. At last check, the suspect was in extremely critical condition. NoFail
The anti's never advertise the statistics of when the gun saves lives and/or solves crime such as in a home intrusion. I wonder why <dontknow> No I don't.
392heminut
Had a situation similar to that a while back here. Funny thing about it was that the old guy who shot the intruder didn't have a phone so the intruder had to call 911 on his own cell phone to get help after he was shot! <lmao>From the Deming Headlight - By Matt Robinson, Headlight Staff - A home intruder was shot on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 2 as he attempted to charge the home owner. Authorities were tipped off when the failed home intruder called Central Dispatch with his cellular phone seeking help for his two gunshot wounds. Justin Hull, 32, suffered two gunshot wounds after he broke into a home on the 5000 block of Amapola Road in the county. The home owner, a 62-year-old man, had called the Luna County Sheriff's Office to his residence earlier that evening because he had noticed some of his personal items stacked in a strange way. According to Capt. Arturo Baeza, of the LCSO, the home had been burglarized in early Dec. 2011 and the home owner suspected the stacked items were awaiting pickup by intruders. The LCSO conducted its investigation of the oddly-stacked items, then left when they concluded everything was fine. The home owner then sat in his property - which does not have heat or electricity, according to the LCSO - and waited. "He hears a bam and the door flew open and there's this guy charging in," Capt. Baeza said, reading from the LCSO report. "The guy closed distance on him and he (home owner) shot at him three times." The owner was able to connect with the intruder on two shots from his .45-caliber pistol. Hull suffered gunshot wounds to his right leg and beneath his rib cage on the left side of his torso. "We got tapes from the 911 call where he admitted he broke into this guy's house," Capt. Baeza added, noting the call was received at about 10:40 p.m.
98Z5V
"The guy closed distance on him and he (home owner) shot at him three times." Good for the homeowner. <thumbsup>The owner was able to connect with the intruder on two shots from his .45-caliber pistol. Good quick-action firearms handling, in a high intensity situation. <thumbsup>Hull suffered gunshot wounds to his right leg and beneath his rib cage on the left side of his torso. That's what .45 rounds do. I carry a .45... because they don't make a .46. ;D <thumbsup>Don't carry anything that doesn't start with ".4-something"The rules of Gunfighting:http://www.thegunzone.com/gunfighting.html

392heminut
A little follow-up to the story on the shot burglar who had to call 911 on his own phone. I dealt with the perp several times during my LEO career and there is no doubt in my mind that had the old man not shot him, the perp was very capable of taking the old guy's gun from him and using it on him! The last I had heard, the perp was in a hospital in El Paso fighting an extremely bad abdominal infection from the gut shot (the ammo was cast bullet reloads) and it was touch & go for him.
