Daley: City will revise gun law after Supreme Court ruling

Colleen Lawson, who sued Chicago over its handgun ban, and members of the Illinois State Rifle Association speak to reporters today about the Supreme Court ruling. (Michael Tercha/Tribune)

Mayor Richard Daley says the city will rewrite its gun ban ordinance because a Supreme Court ruling today has made the current law "unenforceable."

Just like DC did ,they will make it almost impossible to have one ,with all the hoops you will have to jump through .

Its "us" they are afraid of ,not the guns . Nor do they really care about crime . They want us dependant on them for every thing ,including our lives . Its all about power , over us .

^^^^^^^^  Very true.

I'm just glad to see some common sense applied by some of the judges - not by all of the judges, regretfully.  :(

It would be unbelievable if the court ruled the other way.  I'm happy the 2nd Amendment won, as it should have.

surprised CNN would show this

No kidding - much more inline with a Fox News article than a CNN article.

This is what got me, in that - this comment:

After a recent weekend in which 10 people were killed and 60 wounded by gunfire, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley continued to argue the necessity of a citywide gun ban. "Look at all the guns that shot people this weekend. Where did they come from? That is the issue."

First, the guns didn't shoot people - people shot people.  Second, a handgun ban is NOT going to stop criminals from obtaining guns.  That statement right there is the proof that criminals will get guns, no matter what ban is in place, and they'll use them for whatever they want.  No preventative or prohibitionary law can stop that.

They just don't get it...  :(

There was a news item yesterday about a shooting between cars in the drive-through line at a McDonald's--  in Finland.  First,  all the commentaries were blaming the US 2ND Amendment attitude about the "Right to bear arms" for this incident;  Second,  the guy with the gun was a released felon and in the US he would not be able to legally buy or carry a gun which was forgotten or ignored.  Mention was barely made and ignored by the other contributors that Finland has the most relaxed gun laws in the world.

Sorry, old topic.

What does "Finland has the most relaxed gun laws in the world." mean?
