GS455
That's a FAIL for a company as far as I'm concerned.
Caliper
Ordered mine Dec '12. Still waiting... Yeah, it was right at the start of the insanity, but it's been 15 months. Waiting on the barrel I hear. Have lots of .308 that needs to be shot here! Honestly, now that RRA has stopped offering other calibers, Magpul is offering Pmags for the "other brand" and that other brand has released an improved Gen2 rifle... I'm starting to wonder if I picked the wrong rifle. Seems that the industry is moving toward a standardized "AR10" and it isn't RRA's. sketch
I would say RRA is definetly not standard but a good rifle if you wait 15 mo you must know this already! Hang in there :)
moses
The good news is the RRA LAR-8 is a high quality built to your specs (basically) extremely accurate 308 AR type rifle, the other good news is www.mosesmag.com is in the process of making a high quality polymer 20 rd mag that will take care of the LAR-8 hard to find a good quality working magazine problem as they are in the process of making a mag built and designed specifically for the LAR-8 that has already been proven by me modifying one of their existing /available polymer 20 rd FAL mags to fit the LAR-8. Once the outer ribs of the FAL mag are sanded/filed/dremeled so it will fit the deeper magwell of the LAR-8 it has functioned flawlessly in my LAR-8, so I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the mosesmag LAR-8 dedicated 20 rd polymer mag!!!!! I waited over 8 months to get my LAR-8 and it was well worth the wait!!!!!! It shoots honest to goodness 3/4" groups with surplus Portuguese ammo @ 100 yds!!!!!!!! I have a 10xSWFA super sniper scope on it.

GS455
1) I would never special order a rifle from RRA again. That wait time was ridiculous but understandable considering the panic. Or was it? 522 days? Come on !!! Panic is long over!!! I WOULD buy the product off the shelf however. I had to send it back twice for some buggy little issues and they were IMMEDIATE and accommodating via of their Svc Dept. 2) Moses is a very well established contributor and gunsmith known on the FAL Files with an excellent reputation. Although I’ve never dealt with him his feedback is unmatched. He has recently ventured into producing some peripherals like FAL mags. The surplus FAL mags I’ve tried in my LAR8-EO are almost totally unreliable. I picked up some Thermolds for it at a great price but I know they need a little grinding/fitting and I have not tried that yet (hassle factor?). So if Moses is going to make some version for the LAR8s (not a stretch from FAL mags) I’m sure they will be just fine. 3) In fact; how do I get on a list to be notified Moses? Not much traffic on this particular forum. There's an LAR8 board on ARF. Might make yerself known there as well. GDrights308
Not a record but 469 days of waiting for the Standard Op. Does anyone on this forum have a suggestion for rear sights. RRA A2, Magpul and MBUS seem to have good reviews. Patience to those still waiting.

smurf
Hey guys. Im in New Zealand and i got my lar-8 eo about 18 months ago. I got it from one of our dealers here. Since then i have seen various models of the lar come and go from shelves. The demand here isnt exceptionally high for these and i imagine that they are being brought in in rather low numbers but i find it bizzare that alot or most of you are having such long wait times when they are coming here in drips and drabs? planeflyer21
Welcome smurf! I think with most that their dealers are playing games or they special ordered lots of different options on their individual rifles. I bought 2 that were available off Gunbroker for less than MSRP and "in stock".

Armed Eye Doc
Welcome from Texas! I love my LAR-8. I waited a long time for mine, but I went through a good friend/ local dealer and was willing to wait for what I got. There are many RRA's to be had if you look at gun shows, larger stores or online. You have to be willing to take what is there and make it your own.

GS455
Am I the only one reading smurf's posts with a NZ accent? It's the Queens English man. Something we should all go back to. As if they ever taught proper English in this country in the last 30 years. I'm no English scholar but you wouldn't believe the grammar I see in writing from my kid's teachers on emails. smurf
I dont have any pics of my gear on hand right now but i will try and get something up later on. I have a metric Fal here with an interesting butt and grip on it which i cant find any reference to on the net so maybe you guys can help me out with identifying it. We can use our guns for hunting or club shooting, there are no restrictions on what we can do with them other than pistols (which may only be used on an approved pistol range) or if you are a collector you may aquire full auto stuff but its never allowed to be fired and has to be kept in some kind of deactivated state. Possibly by removing a firing pin or some other such part. Obtaining a standard firearms lisence gives you an A catagory version. Not allowed pistols or full auto or any type of semi auto with a pistol grip or bayonet lug, collapsible stock or magazine with a capacity of 7 rounds or greater fitted to it. Obtaining a B catagory allows the ownership of pistols but must only shoot them on a police approved pistol range. C catagory is the collectors one and lets you get hold of full autos, cant be fired though. E catagory allows the use of semi autos with pistol grip bayonet lug collapsable stock flash hider and magazines with a greater capacity than 7 rounds. Semis are allowed on the A catagory, You have to fit a thumbhole stock to an AR/AK etc or other semi to negate the pistol grip issue though. Semi shotguns and .22 rifles and other semis that dont use pistol grips can be had also. Thats a pretty loose summing up and i probably havnt made it very clear. Maybe one of my fellow countrymen can make it easier to understand.
