imschur
ok guys's carrying the Nikon D800 around is not practical, I also tried a Fuji X100 while the images were fantastic it was still too big. I'm looking for something that will fit in a shirt pocket, allow a decent amount of manual control, RAW images, decent in low light and fast focus. Recomendations? edgecrusher
Heather's camera is very good for a point and shoot, Canon sx110 IS…. most likely not the current model, but it continues to impress when I don't want to pull out mine

Microgunner
Whenever I think small and quality I think Leica, although I know little of their current crop.
imschur
Actually Panasonic and Leica share a lot of the same parts. I should mention the camera will be mostly used outdoors for fishing, hiking and biking. Even the Fuji is a little too pricey for the intended destination. Im trying to stay under $700 or there abouts
Armed Eye Doc
I have a Canon SX130IS and love it for everyday use. It is not necessarily the quickest focusing, but it was about $250 a couple of years ago. Here are a couple of pictures I took in CO about 2 years ago. Both are taken from the same spot. The first one is without zoom. If you notice the water in the lower left part, the second picture is the edge of that water on maximum zoom - 12X optical and 48X total. I had to compress the files by 50% due to file size maximum
edgecrusher
yup, newer model than the one I recommended!
EasyEJL
the nkon J1 is pretty sweet. imschur
Well just moments ago I ordered a Canon Powershot S110. It was $349. I figure that was about the most I will spend on a camera that will go everywhere outdoors with me. Im a Nikon guy but I have love for Canon too. DNP
I was gonna suggest an iPhone.... My wife has one of the canon powershot cameras. She seems to like it. I've either got the 1dmk-IIN or my phone. Really, I like the phone.
Microgunner
Cool.My fear with budget glass was that that's what I'd be carrying when the photo of a life time presented itself. So I always lugged around big heavy equipment everywhere I went. It's the main reason I gave up photography, I couldn't enjoy it in moderation.
DNP
It gets expensive quick. Good glass ain't cheap. I bet I'm approaching the cost of a new truck with the money I have into photo gear. I'm done buying new bodies. The mk-II was the last body I will dump over 3k on. It sells now for like $500 and its fine with me.
